About: Caring for other is my passion. Whether it's people or pets. I love animals and treat them like another member of the family. I grew up with pets and I've cared for them my entire life. I also have a nack for training dogs as well. I potty trained my dog and taught her to open doors and take items to others. I can provide play data as well with family members who have pets as well with other rover customers if desired. I live in a safe and clean environment that will foster a great experience for all parties. I'm looking to build long lasting relationships with all pets and their owners. Choosing me will be a great choice. Have a great day. Thank you for your consideration.

About: My name is Kim. I've had pets all my life. I signed up for doggie fieldtrips at LMAS 6yrs ago. Such a fun way to get dogs out of the shelter. I am not in the best place for a pet right now. So I'm limited to walking and check ins. I work in the IT field and have evenings and weekends available to give your pet some excercise and attention. I have a recurring check in that I have come to love. I will take good care of your fur baby. I work full time 5 days a week in the IT field. Evenings, saturday and sunday I am available. I will do my best to give you a quick response. Depending on the animal of course, there is alot to consider. I try to get them up and out and engaged. Fed. Watered. Happy! Also animals are messy. I will do my best to be keep things looking as they were when I got there.

About: What started off as a favor for a friend turned into a genuine love for all pets. As a pet owner myself, I understand the guilt and sadness that comes with leaving your fur baby with a stranger, so it is my mission to make sure that the owner as well as the pet feel comfortable enough to put their trust in me. I am a student with a part time job. I have available time for any animal with any need. Evenings or even night walks are perfect. Boundaries are important, not only for the owner before the pet as well. That is always my top priority. As well as treating a pet as my own.

About: I have experience with many family, friends, and have made connections with others sitting for vacations or if it’s just a simple walk! I have also been around dogs my whole life with my own and know how to properly take care of all ages. I know leaving your furry friend can be stressful so my goal is to help you leave some stress behind and know your pup is in loving and caring hands! Being with dogs is my happy place so I enjoy all the little things. I love getting to know each pet’s personality and making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. I can also snap as many photos as you’d like while we hangout! I am all full time Chick-fil-A manager working mostly afternoons. I am available for care from 8AM-2PM. I can also do drop ins after 10PM. I am open on my off days which is Sunday and Thursday. Feel free to message me beyond that and I will try my best to make it work! I treat every dog like it’s my own! I follow their normal routine of what they’re used to. I will always make sure they have food and water, give them the proper care, give them plenty of attention, playtime, and walks. I also make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved at all times! About: I’ve taken care of, for one, my own dog since I was young and besides from that my neighbors, friends, and family always rely on me when they’re out of town to take care of their pets:) I’ve taken care of puppies and senior dogs! I’m currently enrolled at the University Of Louisville, and have some in person and also online classes so when I’m available could differ but I’m pretty flexible and I could bring my laptop anywhere! I love pets like they’re my own, I have a deep spot in my heart for them all🥹 I can crate any size dog if need be (I know some worry about that). More than happy to take them out wherever whenever, play/walk with them, or bathe them:)!

About: I have always had dogs inside my household growing up so I am knowledgeable in taking care of pets. I currently take care of my parents dog and even have a few other friends I dog sit for on occasion. I regularly take care of my parents dog and I regularly take him for walks, feed him on a regular schedule and ensure his water bowl is full. I love the company of any dog as I live alone and have no children. I have a clean home where a dog cannot easily access things that they should not be. I love getting out for exercise so they will have walks and play time. I also work from home and can work from any home if need be. This makes it very easy to let dogs out for potty breaks and make sure they are fed and have water.

About: I’m someone with a big heart and a genuine love for animals, and I treat every pet as if they were part of my own family. I understand that every dog is unique, so I tailor each visit to their physical abilities and comfort level. If your pup is full of energy, we can play fetch, explore, and enjoy active time together. If they prefer a slower pace, we can cuddle, relax, and soak up plenty of gentle attention.I 100% want every animal to be my friend. I mainly do the weekends as I am a full time employee and pet parent of my mini monsters. If you are needing a drop in during the week it would have to be after 7. My Animals are my priority and i work hard so my babies have a good life in the air conditioning/heat and have plenty of love

About: I have always been an animal lover since I was a wee lad! I’ve never been afraid of “big scary dogs” or getting scratched by a cat. As long as they’re comfortable, I know I have nothing to fear! I always make sure to provide the best care for pets that aren’t mine because I think of how I would want my dog to be treated! I’ve just graduated college, so I am completely free to hang out with your pets all day if needed! Just give me the heads up and I’ll be on my way! I always make sure to introduce myself to the pet before anything. I make sure to feed them based off of their schedule and take them outside every hour if possible. The most important thing for me is that your pet feels comfortable!

About: I am a pet owner myself. I have a 2 year old puppy, great pyrenees and mount bernese mix, Willow. We adopted her at 8 weeks old and have been happy ever since. I’m currently working part time at a local grocery store. I’m free in the evenings Monday-Wednesdays, available all day Thursdays and Fridays. Available late afternoon Saturdays and Sundays. I’ll follow any instruction that is needed to take care of your pet. I can give baths, play with your pet in the backyard, and I will clean any mess your pet makes. If your animal needs a brush, I don’t mind brushing them. I can give your dog walks around the neighborhood.

Emmalea did a wonderful job checking in on our two cats while we were away for a short trip. Her communication with us was top notch, and I would definitely recommend Emmalea. Our cats were relaxed and happy when we returned home, and we knew that they were cared for well while we were away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
