“Alex and his family took great care of our extremely high energy dog. She went for walks, played with other dogs, and came home exhausted. Alex sent lots of pictures and updates too. Thank you!”

“This was our 1st time using Rover and our 1st time leaving our new dog with someone else for the weekend. So I was a little nervous. Steve was great with Phinny and sent me pictures and a quick note after the 1st night. This really put me at ease. And from the long nap Phinny took when I brought him home, we could tell he had a blast socializing and playing with all the other dogs! We will definitely use them again!”

“Mary is amazing! She watched our dog Atlas while we were on a cruise and it looked like he was having so much fun. She kept us updated with pictures and even sent him home with a new toy and Christmas ornament when we picked him up. We will definitely be asking her to watch him again.”
“We had a lovely experience with Andrea! She was very easy to coordinate with and responded to communications promptly, and we returned to a happy and relaxed dog. Thank you again.”

“Natalie took such exceptionally good care of Goose, and he and Leo had a great long weekend playing together and going on walks. Thank you for your care and attention to him and making him feel right at home :)”

About: i grew up living with 4 dogs and multiple litters of puppies. i love grooming my dogs, training them and cuddling with them. my old landlord had a dog that he never took care of so i took care of her everyday until she sadly passed away. i have two dogs i take them out every 2-3 hours. i sometimes take them to fields so they can run around and play for a few hours. i make sure my pets have food and water at all times. i give them baths and clip they’re nails when needed and give them lots of love and play with them. i do have a crate but only use it when i need to.
“Amazing!! My dog usually doesn’t eat when I leave her cause she’s very shy, first time she came home with a full tummy! Always updated me, went on walks and felt at homeee!:)”

“Lorinda did a wonderful job caring for my dogs during their two day boarding stay. One of the dogs can be sassy in new settings and around new dogs and Lorinda handled it with no issues. I would board my dogs with Lorinda again.”

“Dana took great care of Loki on our long trip away! He got a little stomach upset (typical for him with routine/environment changes) and she was very attentive, communicative, and helped get him back on track. Everything was really smooth, and Loki always comes back happy & calm :)”

About: What sets me apart is the genuine love and personal attention I give every pet. After 15 years caring for my toy poodle, Ginger, I understand how much trust it takes to leave your beloved pet with someone else. I provide patient, dependable, and personalized care while making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, happy, and loved. As someone who is currently unemployed, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time to pet care. I can work around your pet’s routine and provide reliable, attentive care while you’re away. I provide a safe, calm, and loving home where pets can feel comfortable and cared for. I follow each pet’s routine, including feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and plenty of attention. I treat every pet like family and make sure they receive the patience, love, and care they deserve.

About: I have had dogs and cats since I was a kid and have always enjoyed looking after and caring for animals. My girlfriend and I don't have any pets at the moment and have been housing our friends pets when they are traveling. Hoping to offer our comfortable house to other pets while their people are traveling! I currently work from 9-5 a short bus ride from my house. I have a lot of flexibility to go home for lunch during the day and check on our house guests. On the weekends we are usually around the house and enjoy going for walks along the gorge trails. We have a three-quarters fenced in backyard for quality fetch time and a large house for the pets to roam in. We have a very open living and dining room for running around and chasing toys! When I visit houses to check on pets I like to stay and play with them for a bit. Make sure they are comfortable and getting some fun in during the day!
“Very responsive. Constant updates and photos so you can relax on vacation! Huge plus of knowing my Bella is taken care of and calm. Would recommend Megan to all my friends and family. BEYOND SATISFIED !! ❤️”

“Alicia provided excellent pet care for our cats in her home. She had a special cat room where they stayed and it had ample toys to play with. Her love for animals was obvious and she gave our cats. Excellent care attention. Thank you so much!”

“Kathryn and Jared were great with our female pittie with her 11 day stay. Their dogs welcomed her, and they had a great time just by looking at the pictures they sent. We will definitely use them the next time we go on vacation.”

About: I've had dogs my entire life from puppies to rescues! I've also been a grooming salon manager in Ithaca for 9 years. I've cared for many different breeds, ages, temperaments, and quirks all dogs have and I love them all the same. I have two dogs of my own Luke and Yoda. Luke is a 6 year old lab mix around 35 lbs. He is very loving and playful. Yoda is a 5 year old miniature fox terrier mix who has unlimited energy and is the sweetest snuggler. I am home all day with my baby and two dogs of my own so I can give the same care to some extra dogs! I treat every dog as if they are my own. I have lots of extra blankets to make sure they have there own space (i do recommend to bring some of there stuff like blankets, beds, and toys to make them more comfortable) and have extra room to separate them if they need to be alone. I will always make sure they are comfortable, happy, loved, and safe!
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, with different energy levels and needs for decades. I’ve volunteered for rescues and fostered puppies and seniors. I am comfortable administering meds, giving baths, working on manners, caring for reactive pups, and will go out of my way to meet your dog’s needs. My flexible schedule gives me plenty of time for long walks and playing with pups on both weekdays and weekends (yes, I am very lucky). I will follow your instructions carefully to make sure that your pet is happy and safe. A pet’s safety is always my number one priority.
About: Pet care found ME... I did not find it. After cuddling with random dogs I'd meet on the street my whole life, someone finally asked me "Why don't you take care of pets professionally?" And thus a career was born (which I've adored ever since). I owned my own pet care company for over 15 years while living in NYC and NJ. Now, I’m based in Ithaca, and look forward to taking care of your fur baby! I am not working full time and have plenty of downtime. Thus, my schedule is super flexible and easily adjustable to your pet care needs! I treat all pets as if they were my own. I had a chow chow for many years, which was a member of our family and that is how I view ALL animals. They are part of our lives and our hearts and should be treated with just as much kindness and love as their human counterparts. Hospitality and pet care are my main sources of income. I work nights in hospitality, and my schedule is fairly flexible. I will always make every fur baby take care of my priority! I can take care of pets at your home or mine. I live in a three story/three bedroom townhouse, so there is plenty of room. The townhouse community sits on a big piece of open property. I absolutely LOVE playing with your pets--whether they are in my house or yours. I especially love giving them lots of love and affection!
About: I have worked with dogs and cats in General practice vet clinics and ER vet clinics for over three years. I also have experience volunteering at animal shelters and dog sitting/cat sitting. My schedule is very flexible and I am available most days and times for your pet! I am even able to care for pets on weekends, early mornings and evenings. I have a one bedroom apartment and no animals in the house.I can keep up with feeding schedules, walking schedules, and any medical needs your pet may have such as providing medication. I treat each pet like my own and I love staying in touch with pet parents throughout the stay by sending pictures!
“We had a wonderful experience working with Charlene. Her knowledge of dog training and experience put us at ease immediately, and she took affectionate and attentive care of our dog. It's obvious she really enjoys spending time with dogs and knows how to make them feel comfortable and well cared for. We would absolutely recommend her and hope to have her sit for us again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Killawog home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Killawog.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Killawog sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
