“It was our first time hiring a sitter for our cats and we were a little nervous about it. We couldn't be happier with Josie's service. She takes her job very seriously, she updated us everyday and upload pictures of our cats. She was alwasy easy to reach out to. I'll definitely work with her in future as well. Recommend her 10/10”

“Sofia was amazing with my very hyper 10 month old puppy! She made sure to make sure she was wore out and had some fun while I was away at work. Always on time, and very informative throughout her visit. I highly recommend Sofia!”

About: From a young child, to a teenager, and as an adult I've always been entrusted with neighbors, friends, and family pets that are just that-part of the family. I've been able to assist in leash training from my own experience with large-breed dogs (German Shepherd mix, approx. 100 pounds) and know how to keep everyone safe, happy, and make time for play time! I'm currently working part-time, but looking for flexibility to care for spiritual volunteering on a more regular basis. Most days I have off in the afternoons, and will be able to assist those who may work away from home or work longer shifts. I have experience crate-training, as well as those who may be allowed to roam in the home as well. I have been able to train my own dog with some professional assistance in proper leash walking and have helped several others to begin doing the same from the training I've received as well. I have worked with food and toy-aggressive dogs in the past and can work through these issues if they're present.

About: I have been caring for dogs for my friends and family since I was 10 years old. I have worked with dogs of all sizes and energy levels. I have also worked with puppies, geriatric dogs, and dogs with special medical needs, and I can reliably administer medication with minimal stress to the pet. I prioritize calm, comfortable, and compassionate care that meets the unique requirements of each dog I care for. I work full time but with multiple hour breaks throughout the day and fully free evenings. I would be able to care for pets in the evening from 5:00 pm as long as needed. On the weekends and holidays I have full freedom to spend the full time with pets. In my own home I provide a quiet, calm environment with many pet beds, a fenced yard, large windows, high places, and areas and rooms that can be completely from one another. In clients homes, I care for pets by communicating before the service to establish boundaries and access instructions as well as meet the pets. Before getting to the property, I tell the client I am on my way. Then when I provide the care, I enter the property as instructed and feed and water the pet/s (including medication if needed). Then I change litter, bedding, pee pads, etc. Then I do any grooming that the pets need. After that I socialize and play with the pets if they are comfortable with that. Before leaving I clean anything else that needs to be cleaned. Then I leave and secure the property as instructed and send a message to the client to update them.
“This was my first time having Jana do a house visit for my two dogs - and it won't be my last. She quickly responded to my request to drop in the next day, let them out and feed them dinner. She came over the next morning to meet them, and go over the details. She called me about an hour before her appointed scheduled time to ask if I wanted her to go over early as thunder and rain was predicted for that time, and I'd told her that Annie was terrified of it. I really appreciated this! Thank you very much, Jana! :)”

About: I have been around or taking care of dogs since I was about six years old. I grew up around dogs of all shapes and sizes. My first dream job was to be a veterinarian because of my love for animals, but dogs more than anything else. I love dogs, and I understand that dogs have their own personalities their own emotions their own likes their own dislikes and different ways to be cared for just like humans do.i treat dogs with respect and I treat dogs with love. I never call dogs “ it” I call them by their name and gender like they should be addressed. I’ve also volunteered more than once at K9 battle buddies. I know how to adapt to different dogs with different demeanors. I am a military veteran with more time on my hands than I used to have so why not spend this time taking care of walking, watching and playing with animals that I love If a dog is in my home, I will take care of them as if this dog is mine as if I brought this dog into my family. I will treat the dog love I will protect him or her as if they are my own. If I’m in the home of the owner, I’ll respect the dogs home as if I’m babysitting a child. I will respect the home of the owner as well.
“She was amazing! This is the first time I hire pet sitter services for my cat. Once he saw her he liked her right away. There was daily pictures of him and she made sure he had water/ clean litter and food. I will be working with her in the future and highly recommend! Thank you again for watching my baby, Zoe!”

About: As a lifelong animal lover and pet owner, I know how important it is to find someone you trust with your pets. I have previous pet sitting experience through ........, caring for both dogs and cats with overnight stays and drop-in visits, and I treat every pet like they’re my own. I’ll take the time to learn your pet’s routine and provide the care they need, whether that’s walks, playtime, feeding, potty breaks, cuddles, or medication with instructions. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved until you’re back home. I work full-time during the week, so I’m available for evening drop-in visits and walks after work, as well as weekends. I understand the importance of consistency and will do my best to accommodate your pet’s routine whenever possible. My availability is updated regularly, and I’ll always communicate promptly about scheduling. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a secure fenced yard where dogs can safely play, and my friendly Husky, Yunaleska(Yuna Tuna), loves having canine companions. Because Yuna is not spayed, I require male dogs staying in my home to be neutered for everyone’s safety and comfort. My cats are accustomed to dogs and generally prefer to relax in their own space. I’ll follow your pet’s routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and any medication instructions. Whether your pet is staying with me or I’m caring for them in your home, you’ll receive regular photo and message updates so you can relax knowing they’re safe, happy, and well cared for.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
