About: There hasn’t been a time in my life where I haven’t been around a dog. I’ve been with the dogs throughout their walks of life. From puppies to seniors. I have also cared for and loved several other animals. I have experience in caring for rabbits, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, and birds. I also know CPR for dogs. My schedule is open so I have most days completely free! I bring my work with me so I’ll be able to stay with your pets all day. I take pets on exciting walks, and play with them if they are in the mood. I also have a knowledge of trails and other areas for walking for dogs that need deeper exercise. I also do light training, commands like sit/stay I have taught many times to dogs and also exercised with my own. Some dogs require more mental stimulation than others, so it’s best to keep them busy.

Nikki took wonderful care of Tucker. She gave daily updates, pictures and videos and I could tell he had a great time during her visits. On top of that she was very flexible with her schedule and made some accommodations which were very helpful! Will definitely be using her again

About: I love dogs and cats. I grew up with both. I will treat your pet the way I would want mine to be treated with care, adoration and respect. I know that when you are away it can lead to increased stress for your animal and I will foster an environment that feels safe by maintaining their schedule and routines, enforcing boundaries and giving them the attention or space they need. I love a good snuggle, pet and long walk! I have experience with productive walk techniques to ensure your dog will get the most out of their walk. They'll feel better physically and mentally and have a greater sense of accomplishment and self-worth. I am happy to spend time with you to teach you the tools and techniques I use. Productive walks not only work wonders for your dog's mental health but can do the same for your enjoyment and bonding on a walk and can save your shoulders and knees from a dog who pulls. I look forward to meeting you and your pet!

About: Growing up with a variety of dogs and cats, I’ve always had a hands-on approach to caring for animals of all shapes and sizes. Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience in everything from basic care and grooming to managing special needs for both puppies and senior pets. What really sets me apart as a sitter is my background in dog training—while raising puppies of my own, I completed training courses to ensure they developed good behavior and essential skills. Whether it’s reinforcing commands, managing energy levels, or providing gentle care for older pets with unique needs, I’m comfortable adapting to each animal’s personality and requirements. My goal is to provide a safe, loving environment where your pets can thrive while you’re away! As a full-time college student with a flexible schedule, I have plenty of time to devote to your pet’s care. I attend only one in-person class for 50 minutes twice a week, with the rest of my classes being online and remote. This allows me to be home for most of the day, ensuring your pet gets the attention and care they need. I'm also an active person and make it a priority to get outside for walks every day, so I’m always happy to take your dog for a stroll or play with your pet in the yard. Whether it's feeding, playtime, or simply keeping them company, pet care easily fits into my daily routine! When caring for pets in my home or yours, your pets safety and your trust in me are my top priorities. At my home, I ensure a pet-friendly environment with secure spaces for your pet to explore and relax. I keep hazards like toxic plants, choking risks, and dangerous chemicals out of reach. My home is calm, clean, and cozy—perfect for a pet to feel safe and at ease while you're away. If I’m caring for your pet in their own home, I follow your instructions closely to maintain their routine and environment, ensuring they feel comfortable and secure. I keep open communication with pet owners, providing updates and photos so you can trust that your pet is happy, healthy, and well cared for at all times. Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Idaho City. On Rover:

  • 86% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
