About: I own a 7 acre property that is a short drive up Fickle Hill Rd in Arcata! It includes a private trail with access to the community forest and a very large fenced in yard. I have a 1 year old female German Shepherd (Sabine) who is very well trained and LOVES to play with other dogs. I’ve been working with animals my entire life but started officially dog sitting and walking about 10 years ago! I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes and personalities and feel comfortable and confident in my care abilities. Locally I have done in home care both long term and short term. Now that I have this large property I would like to do more of a doggy day care! I am capable of providing training, grooming, as well as daily exercise and enrichment activities! I am free Monday - Thursday every week as I work from home as a ceramic artist. On the weekends (Friday - Sunday) I work as a waitress. I offer care from my home where I have a very large fenced in yard with plenty of space to run around and enjoy the outdoors. As well as a large dog friendly home for those rainy days. All plants and trees on the property are dog safe! I also have a private trail that is connected to the community forest trails where I take Sabine (my dog) for daily walks. Sabine also loves the beach so we do take weekly trips out to the dunes in Samoa! I’m a dog lover and feel that I am very attuned to understanding the way they communicate. Your dog will look forward to playing around the property and spending time in the forest with Sabine and I!

“Stari was awesome with my high energy 2 year old boy, Charlie. Despite short notice for booking the walks, she was dependable & easy to communicate with & took him out even in bad weather with his little coat on. She gave daily updates & pictures, which really eased my mind while I was caring for my daughter after surgery. I will definitely use Stari again when I need help with Charlie!”

About: I have been a sitter for 4 years for friends and neighbors. My care has included walking, potty breaks, overnight care, and more! I’ve lived with Dobermans my whole life and am capable of care for any dog of any size! I am a full time student at Cal Poly humboldt, my classes are in the morning and I am completely open in afternoons, weekends and holidays! I am active and love to play with animals!! My dogs at home are escape artists so I know how to avoid an escape due to fences. I have kennel trained multiple of my dogs and prefer to use kennels for bigger dogs.

About: Dogs have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a house full of dogs, I developed a deep respect and love for animals early on. At just 10 years old, I began working in a boarding kennel, where I learned firsthand the importance of structure, consistency, and compassionate care. Over the years, I’ve continued to immerse myself in the pet care world, working in a variety of boarding kennels and doggy daycare environments. These experiences have given me a well-rounded understanding of canine behavior, social dynamics, and the importance of individualized attention. For the past three years, I’ve built and operated my own dog training business, offering a personalized board-and-train program out of my home. My approach is rooted in relationship-based training, where communication, trust, and understanding come first. I strive to create a balanced, enriching environment that brings out the best in every dog. Above all, the happiness and well-being of dogs is my top priority. Whether I’m training, boarding, or simply spending time with them, I make it my mission to ensure each dog feels safe, fulfilled, and loved. This summer, I’m taking the opportunity to travel and connect with new communities, bringing my passion for dogs with me wherever I go. I’m excited to share my knowledge, learn from others, and continue doing what I love most—helping dogs live their best lives. When I’m house or dog sitting, caring for the pet becomes the rhythm of my day. Since I don’t have other work or responsibilities to juggle during those stays, I can really focus on being present and in tune with what the dog needs and enjoys. Because I’m not pulled in other directions, I can give them the kind of calm, consistent attention that helps them feel settled and happy while their people are away. It’s a pace and lifestyle that works really well for me—and for the dogs. When I’m caring for your dog in your home, their safety and comfort are my top priorities. I understand that your home is their safe space, and I treat it—and them—with the respect and attention they deserve. Here’s how I create a secure, trusting, and nurturing environment for your pet: ✅ Safety First • I follow your dog’s established routine and boundaries to minimize stress and support a sense of stability. • Doors, gates, and fences are always double-checked to prevent accidental escapes. • I monitor closely for any signs of injury, illness, or unusual behavior—and you’ll be the first to know if something seems off. • I keep your dog’s environment clean, calm, and free from hazards, using only pet-safe products if cleaning is needed. 🤝 Building Trust • I take the time to get to know your dog’s personality, body language, and preferences from the start—respecting their pace. • I use calm, confident energy to help your dog feel secure in my presence. • Communication with you is ongoing and transparent; I’m happy to send updates, photos, or check-ins as often as you’d like. • If your dog is anxious or shy, I patiently build rapport through positive interactions, never forcing engagement.

“Aurora was great!! She communicated with me very well and talked me through the whole process. We even did a short meet and great beforehand to make me more comfortable. Loved getting the walk report cards with pictures!! Will definitely be using her again when I need someone to walk my pup!!”

Allison P.
“Miss Sonny has the strongest ability to communicate with dogs I’ve ever seen. She’s a pro at reading and responding to their cues, tons I never noticed before she taught me. My once extremely anxious dog blossomed once listened and spoken to “in her own language.” Miss Sonny is friendly, patient, and loving with her dog friends and parents alike. It’s obvious she loves what she does, and my dog absolutely loves training with her. All the wiggles and thumbs up in the world for Miss Sonny from me and my happy and capable pup Miss Ellie May :-)”

Karen D.
“Karen is so conscientious and loving! Her home is such a beautiful and fun place for an animal to spend time away from their owners. Her entire family and resident dog Renny, create a hospitable and warm environment for your fur baby. Your animal is sure to be treated like a family member. Karen is detail oriented and responds quickly to inquiries. She is great at sending periodic photos that show how much fun your animal is having while you are away. Sometimes my dog gets more exercise when spending time with her than I give her at home. I feel so lucky to call her my close friend!”
