“Jackie did a great job for us housesitting our dog and cat for a week while we were traveling—she even washed the sheets before we came home! We would definitely recommend her.”

“Tierra was amazing. Very kind and exceptional communication. She is very well-versed in animal care and was so good to our pups. She left the house nice and tidy and kept us updated while we were gone. Will absolutely book with her again.”

About: Ive always had pets growing up. Cats for the majority but I have babysat families with fish, cats, dogs, and farm animals. I enjoy being outside so it was always a joy. I am a stay at home mom so I have plenty of time to watch any furry friends. I am available all days of the week besides Sundays I have a partially fenced yard and have 2 indoor cats. They go outside occasionally and avoid confrontation but are otherwise extremely nice and friendly. I always give my cats food and water on a schedule and am sure to include their wet foods for their health. I do have a baby, soon to be toddler, who loves our cats and just enjoys being in their presence

“Suzanne kept me in the know with my puppy daily and quick to respond. She and my pup got along very well and was well taken care of as well as the house itself. I recommend Suzanne to housesit for your furry friend! Thanks Suzanne ❤️”

About: There hasn’t been a time in my life I can remember where I haven’t had a furry friend by my side. I’ve taken care of numerous pets from families and friends who may not have been mine but I loved just as dearly as my own. I have experience with all ages and types of pets, however mellow or rowdy. I believe every animal deserves as much respect, patience, and love it takes for them to feel safe. I’m confident in my ability to accommodate any pet regardless of age or personality. I’m not currently working so I have plenty of time I’d gladly spend with your pets, no matter how early or late, I can be extremely flexible. This is often based on my clients routines which I like to follow as closely as I can. I love spending quality time going for a long walk or playing with any fun toys with pets.
“I can't say enough how much I appreciate and love Ashten & Shelby! They did amazing with my pup as always and even earned some kitty cuddles which is very rare for my cats when they're around strangers. as an employee of Rover, this is the experience i hope for all Rover users”

“Jocelyn is truly wonderful in every way. She recently stayed with my cat, Squeaky Pete, for four days, and from our very first meet‑and‑greet I felt completely at ease. Throughout her stay she was communicative, thoughtful, and sent the sweetest updates and photos of Petey — I didn’t feel a single moment of anxiety while I was away. When I came home, everything was spotless and perfectly in place… honestly, even cleaner than when I left. And the best part? Petey has actually been looking around for her, which says everything about how much he enjoyed their time together and the care she gave him. He requires an inhaler twice a day, and Jocelyn handled it safely, gently, and with total confidence. Knowing he was in such capable hands gave me so much peace of mind. I recommend Jocelyn wholeheartedly. Both Petey and I look forward to working with her again and again — she’s truly a gem.”

“Joy was a great sitter for our energetic pup and a good steward with our 121 yr old home!! It was fun seeing pics of her interacting with our WitchHazel, and the the house was just as clean as when we’d left it! Looking forward to calling upon her in the future! Highly recommend her”

About: I have over 7 years of hands-on pet care experience with animals of all sizes, ages, breeds, and personalities. My professional background includes working in kennels, doggy daycare, grooming, dog training, and veterinary assisting, so I’m comfortable caring for everything from playful puppies to seniors and pets with special needs. Safety is always my priority, but I also want your pet to feel like they’re part of the family while they’re with me. I’m comfortable administering oral and injectable medications, providing frequent potty breaks, following detailed feeding or medication routines, and caring for pets who may need a little extra patience. I also have dog and cat first aid/CPR experience and am comfortable with large breeds, multiple-pet households, and pets with different activity levels. I send regular pictures and updates so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for. 🐾 My schedule is very flexible, which allows me to spend plenty of time with the pets in my care rather than leaving them alone for long periods. I’m available throughout the day for potty breaks, playtime, walks, feeding, medications, cuddles, and whatever routine your pet is used to at home. For boarding, I have a house with a fenced yard and plenty of opportunities for supervised outdoor time. Dogs are welcome to relax on the furniture and make themselves comfortable. I keep care personalized and follow each owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, crate routines, medications, exercise needs, and sleeping preferences. Because I have dogs and young children in my home, I’m careful about making sure boarding dogs are a good fit before their stay. Meet-and-greets are always welcome! My goal is for you to leave feeling completely comfortable and for your pet to feel like they’re having their own little vacation. ❤️ I have a fenced in yard and and a dog park in walking distance! My home also has room for pups to run and play!
“Helina house-sat for me and took care of my two senior Yorkies for a week. She sent me daily updates so I was assured that my babies were well cared for. I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation at Glacier National Park, where my dogs would have been bear snacks. I highly recommend Helina!”

“Rachel was amazing. We contacted her day of so it was pretty short notice and she made herself available and was on time. She was kind and patient and caring. Otis adored her. She has a lot of experience and knowledge. I felt totally comfortable with her in our home and would absolutely ask her to dog sit for us again. Ty Rachel!”

“Alexandra has proved herself to be a great cat-sitter. She followed our cat care instructions very well. She spent time with them in the evening/night when they get the most lonely(they sleep most of the day), gave them wet food on schedule, checked their water fountains, dry food dispensers and litter robot to make sure they were in order, and cleaned up after Boo when he puked. When we came home, the cats seemed emotionally very well and cared for. I could tell she had spent the right amount of time with them and given them enough attention, because they were not upset, stressed or angry at me for leaving them as they would be if they had not been attended to sufficiently. Alexandra was also very kind to our apartment while she was over, leaving it very clean. Best of all, she was easy to communicate with while we were away. I definitely recommend her as a pet sitter!”

“Shasta was great. She left the house clean and just as we left it. The pets were well tended and happy. She also sent updates consistently. We will definitely be reaching out to her again!”

“Abby did a great job looking out after my two dogs! She left earlier today before I got home. Dogs were taken care of and the house locked up. Not 20 minutes after she left the house, a neighbor of mine called and said they had Buddy. He had escaped the yard somehow! I contacted Abby and asked if she could go back to the house and deal with that situation. She didn’t hesitate! I got back from out of town and found the dogs happy and healthy like nothing ever happened! Thank you Abby for the extra care!!”

“Betty did a wonderful job taking care of our three dogs! She was very communicative and sent awesome photos and seemed to really just love on our pups while we were out of town for the weekend.”

“this was the second time we used Wini to care for our dog, Sadie. Wini stayed with Sadie for 3 weeks so we could take an European bucket list trip over the holidays. Wini is amazing and provided such wonderful care for Sadie, we rarely worried about being gone. Communication remains excellent and the care provided by Wini is superior. I am certain we will book with Wini again when we need her supreme care! Thank you Wini.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hite walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hite maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hite choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hite. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
