“We’ve booked with Erica several times now and she’s been wonderful with our hyper little girl, Daisy. Erica sends pics and videos and has put us at ease with leaving Daisy with her. Highly recommend!”

“Heather did an amazing job with my rescue girl. I was a nervous wreck leaving her but had to travel for work. My girl settled right in and I got the cutest updates. Heather knows how to deal with my quirky dork of a pup. She was patient with her and made her feel like she was home. My girl is tired and happy. I will definitely use Heather in the future for my boarding needs.”

“Svitlana was SO sweet and very patient with our shy boy, Enzo. She was very accommodating and easy to work with. Enzo is usually extremely reserved with new people, but it was clear that he immediately trusted her and felt comfortable with her. She was great with sending pictures of Enzo and keeping us updated. We would love to use her again in the future!”

“Edith is nothing short of absolutely amazing! We had a very last-minute situation with me going out of town for work and my husband tied up with commitments he couldn’t miss. We signed up for Rover and immediately matched with Edith. Not only was she able to accommodate our last-minute boarding and sitting request, but she went above and beyond. We received the sweetest pictures and videos of our puppy, Rosie, which warmed our hearts and gave us peace of mind. With how busy my work has been the last few months, I’m only just now able to sit down and truly thank her for ALL she did—including keeping us consistently updated on how Rosie was doing. On top of that, we faced another unexpected challenge during the stay, and Edith once again came to the rescue. Our family is forever grateful that our paths crossed with hers, and we will be using Edith for ALL of our puppy’s needs moving forward. Amazing care, Edith—thank you!”

“This is the 2nd time I left my dog Maggie in Heather's care. Heather did a great job and cared for Maggie well. Maggie had a great time playing with her furry and human friends every day and she always looks happy in the pictures Heather sent me. I will ask for Heather's help next time I'm away.”

“Andrea and her family are great! Definitely will be using her again! She definitely made Lily feel at home and loved since our first interaction with the meet and greet! We especially loved the updates and pictures of Lily! Thank you so much Andrea!”

“Our dog Lincoln loved staying at Christine’s place! She took such good care of him, and he came home very happy! We enjoyed our vacation without having to worry about our dogs comfort of safety. Thank you Christine!”

“Makaylah was absolutely wonderful. I needed very last minute overnight accommodations for my pup, and ended up needing an extra day of care. Makaylah was so kind and flexible. My dog (who is often nervous with new people for a few minutes) took to her immediately, and it made me feel so comfortable leaving her, and I got morning and evening texts with sweet pictures and updates on how she was doing. I would highly recommend Makaylah to anyone!”

“Our Duke can be a little high maintenance, but Tanine took him in and made him feel comfortable during his stay. Tanine, her kids, and the other dogs were all great to him. He seemed to really enjoy his stay. Thanks!!!”

“Charity was great. Maya was so exhausted when she came home and we could tell that she had a great time while staying with Charity. She was very responsive and sent lots of pictures. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Kirstin was so wonderful with our dog; she took great care of her and we got lots of thoughtful updates. Our flight was delayed on our way back and she was so helpful and flexible throughout, and even kept our dog for an extra night. We were so grateful! Highly recommend; will definitely book again.”

“We had a wonderful experience from start to finish with Bella! The communication in advance of our trip was beneficial and helpful, and she developed rapport quickly with our pup Bubba once we arrived. Bella’s energy, knowledge, and care throughout our conversations helped instill trust quickly. Bubba is looking forward to his next visit!”

“Emil was so sweet with my little pup and he came back super happy! He was very thorough with making sure he did everything he needed and let him sniff around all the time. A great place to send my little guy.”

About: I've taken care of large and small animals all my life, I grew up taking care of my aunt's horses with her, and I've pet sat and house sat for the past couple of years and have been very successful. I am no longer a college student so my schedule is way more open! I love all animals small or large! I am currently looking for a part-time job, I will always be available on the weekends and I should be available in the mornings and late mornings almost every day. I have a big fenced-in backyard, and I own two friendly dogs and an indoor-outdoor cat that stays away from most people and other dogs who come to visit so there is no worry about him if you're worried about your animal around cats.
“Samantha was great, flexible, and clearly loves and understands dogs. Our little Maltipoo had a great time hanging out with her and her dog. We will definitely use her again when we're in the area.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Haywood home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Haywood.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Haywood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
