“Alicia and her boyfriend Jonah are without doubt the best house and pet sitters you could possibly have!! I was left pretty last minute without a pet sitter for my senior pup for a 10 day trip, Alicia took the time to come meet with her before our trip, and then while we were away she sent multiple pictures and videos updating us every day! The house was left spotless, communication was superb, overall great people and could not recommend her more!!! Id give 100 stars if I could!”

“Amazing job! This was my first time having a dog sitter and I was a bit nervous and unsure. The meet and greet was smooth, and kind of an information dump on the sitter. Durning the stay, plenty of updates and pictures. Upon return, my dog (who is high energy) was tired, calm and ready for bed. Which is perfect for me since I was too!”

About: I cared for Breezy( Portuguese Water dog💕💕) in my home for 4 yrs while her mom went to work each day. Sadly she passed away😞…, but she had the best time and fun with my family and I for 4 fab years. I have also taken care of family and friends dogs while they go away on vacation. I’m a stay at home mom who loves the outdoors and I take several walks a day with my 12yr old dog Frieda, I have a lot of free time during the day between the hrs of 9am -6 pm for in home visits and walks. This schedule works best for me. My family and I LOVE all fur babies. They will always be a huge part of our family. I have a fenced in yard and a super sweet and friendly family dog Frieda whom we adore and love so much! The safety and wellbeing of your pet is my biggest priority.
“David took care of everything and everyone—from our Velcro dog who became his best bud to our 16 year old very shy kitty who ended up snuggling up and sleeping with him. It was so nice to come home to happy healthy pets and everything at the house taken care of. I highly recommend David and will be seeking out his services again. Thank you!!!”

“Nicole was very diligent in following the care instructions I left and went above and beyond when the unexpected came up. I was updated every day. She left the house in great shape when her stay was over. She has become my go-to pet sitter.”

“My two Jack Russell’s had a great time with Shannon while she did a 5 day house sit with them. Shannon regularly kept us up to date on their wellbeing with pictures and texts. She also was able to help us out for an extra day when our flight was delayed returning home and ensured the dogs were still taken care of while we were delayed getting home. The house looked great when we got back and we had two happy pups. Thanks again Shannon!”

“Maddy was incredible!! I felt so comfortable having her at our home. She took pictures everyday and kept us updated with how our pups were doing. We have 3 crazy dogs and she handled them all with ease. Will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Tessa took care of two cats and two dogs. One of the cats required a pill every day and one of the dogs needed pills as well. One of the dogs was a senior and needed help with stairs. Tessa did a fantastic job with all of it. I have no fence so she had the added job of leashing and walking the dogs numerous times a day. I would not hesitate to employ and recommend her.”

“Eric did a terrific job taking care of our senior pup. Our doggo was extremely relaxed and happy when we came back from our trip, so it was obvious that Eric took amazing care of him. Eric was also very thorough about following instructions and asking questions about our dog's routines and preferences. And the house was in great shape as well!”

“Teadie cared wonderfully for our 3 dogs as if they were her own, and even took our Rambo to an emergency vet appointment. She went above and beyond and we will definitely use her again in the future and recommend her to anyone who needs a great dog sitter.”

“She was great with our pups. One fairly energetic, but in need of calm because he was recovering from knee surgery, and the other a 17 year old diva who is mostly blind and mostly deaf. Will definitely book again.”

“I had Ivy stay with my girl Cassie for 3 nights. She did a great job! Cassie and I loved her on our meet and greet. She was very respectful of my home as well. She took the time to write down all feeding and medication times because she knew how important it was to give her medication every 12 hours. I would definitely recommend her to care for your pets. I get nervous leaving Cassie when I have to travel for work, but Ivy staying with her definitely put my mind at ease. I will be using her again for my next trip in a few weeks!”

“I was very hesitant to have a sitter stay at my house . We took a chance on Gabby and couldn’t be happier . She sent us updates on our boy throughout the stay , showed up on time , distributed his meds properly , and followed all our directions for our boy. On top of that she left our house in the same condition it was given to her and took all our mail and deliveries in. Our Zee came back to us happy and as healthy as we left him. I’d definetly recommend Gabby and we hope to use her again.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Greenwood Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Greenwood Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Greenwood Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
