“Tara was an outstanding pet sitter for our Juniper. We actually booked her as a house sitter as well and she took care of our other animals and random things that came up. Very responsible and I could tell Juniper was being looked after and loved. Thank you so much. Would book her again anytime!”

About: I've had my own dogs and have taken care of other dogs for many years - puppies & dogs of all ages and personalities. I can take care of your dog for a short visit or an extended period. I'm retired and I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to spend with your dog(s). If they are active, I can also run with them. I take dogs on lots of long walks, plus playtime and cuddling. I have plenty of room in a dog friendly house with covered furniture. I have a crate big enough for a 50 lb dog if your dog is used to a crate for naps, etc.
About: I’ve had dogs since I was eight years old. Including puppies and rescuing senior dogs. Some of the senior dogs were at the end of their life so I understand the need for compassion and care. I currently have a two year old puppy which I have trained since she was five months old. So I am very versed in the need for daily exercise, consistent training, and daily enrichment. I’ve been dog sitting for at least ten years. Including extended stays at my residence. I’m currently a part time worker, looking for something to fill my extra time. So I have a very flexible schedule and I’m always ready for some extra dog time. My goal is to always put your pets need first. Including any care they need. Including cleaning up after them and any extra medications they may need. Also adding comfort and safety in stressful situations.
“Genevieve was very wonderful to work with. Everything went smoothly for the week that we were away. She kept us updated and sent photos of our chickens and our dog. Without us asking, she offered to take the trash out for us, brought in our mail. She went above and beyond and bathed our pup and cleaned the chicken coop for us while we were away! Highly recommend Genevieve and will be requesting her for future needs.”

“As always, I truly appreciate Jenna. I don't know what we'd do without her!! My pets are always thrilled when she arrives which is a complete 180 from when I boarded the dog (she would tremble and cower at the boarding place and also go on hunger strikes). Now she couldn't wag her whole butt harder! Jenna's always great with communication, respecting our home while we're away, ensuring everything gets done for all the animals (walks, love, feeding, etc.), and sending photos so I know they're happy and healthy. I can't imagine going away any other way than having Jenna staying here with our animals while we're gone. Thank you!!!”

“Zach was absolutely great. My family and I went to the Outer Banks this past week. I have 2 dogs, my sister has 2 dogs and my other sister has 1 dog. We all traveled together and rented a home in Duck. It was one of our best vacations, THANKS TO ZACH. He came 2 nights that week and set with all 5 dogs. He sent me pics of all them. I thought I would be very nervous leaving my 2, but I wasn’t at all. If anyone is visiting the Outer Banks and needs a dog sitter reach out to Zach he will take excellent care of your furbabies. Zach if your ever in Morgantown WV look me up. Thank you again Zach for taking such good care of my babies.”

“Rose did an amazing job! She is very loving and very easy-going! And helped us with a last-minute all day long taking care of puppies and dogs day! She’s very kind and the dogs loved her! Thank you so much!”

“Jennifer is amazing! Our dogs loved her and were noticeably calm and content when we got home. She spent so much time with them and really gave them lots of love and attention. They need medications and have a very detailed routine and Jennifer did everything they needed with no issues or concerns. Thank you so much! She is our favorite sitter now! 🙏”

About: I am a dog lover and I’m comfortable with all breeds. I had multiple pets including a dog and cat that I took care of growing up. I currently have no pets but have recently taken care of friends’ dogs. This has included overnight and daytime boarding at my house while taking care of all walking, playing, and feeding needs. I’m currently working PRN (part time) as a physical therapist and I have a lot of flexibility and freedom in my schedule. I’m looking to fill some of this free time with something that I’ve always enjoyed, taking care of pets. I am trustworthy, clean, and respectful of others homes when entering to care for their pets. I am happy to walk your dog wherever they normally like to go around your home.
“Zimir was wonderful! He took great care of my goldens and cat. He kept me updated with photos and updates and was very responsive! “⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you are looking for someone to trust completely with your fur babies, look no further than Morgan — she is absolutely exceptional! We were away for two full weeks on an international trip to Dubai and Egypt, and the only reason we could truly relax and enjoy every moment of our travels was knowing that Zack and Gia were in Morgan's loving, capable hands. That peace of mind is priceless. Morgan didn't just "watch" our dogs — she genuinely cared for them as if they were her own. Two weeks is a long time to be away from your pets, and she made the whole experience seamless and stress-free. We came home to two happy, healthy, well-loved pups who were clearly comfortable and content the entire time we were gone. Her communication was top-notch — responsive, reassuring, and she kept us updated without us ever having to wonder how Zack and Gia were doing. That level of attentiveness says everything about her dedication and professionalism. Morgan is warm, trustworthy, and truly passionate about the animals in her care. She has earned a client for life, and we cannot recommend her highly enough. If you want your pets treated like royalty while you're away, Morgan is your person — 10 out of 10, without hesitation!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grandy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grandy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grandy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
