“Marie is an outstanding and caring pet sitter, very responsive and attentive, spends quality time with your pet while providing updates and pictures for your peace of mind. I highly recommend her and will be using her services in the future for sure!”

“Keshia was great! My dogs loved playing with her and told us that we should go away more often. On time and our dogs were extremely happy and slept all night with out needing to go out. We were very pleased to have Keshia as oidog sitter.”

“Madison took care of our 4 pets- 2 large dogs & 2 cats while we were out of town for 5 days. One of the dogs had just had surgery and ended up being somewhat challenging with his bandage. She made sure he was taken care of and kept us up to date the whole time. She went above and beyond! We will use her in the future!”

“Carissa was awesome during a 3 day house sit! she was so patient with our little guys and they love her!! She sent tons of pics/videos and updates and was really communicative with us. She was also really flexible when we let her know beforehand that one of our doggies had just started limping right before we left. It was an extra cute/sweet touch that she left a little drawing of the doggies. Highly recommend!!”

About: I love caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities! I’ll make sure your pup gets plenty of exercise, attention, playtime, fresh food and water, and lots of love. I’m also comfortable caring for dogs with special routines or medications. Your dog’s safety and happiness are my top priorities, and I’ll keep you updated with pictures and messages while you’re away! 🐶❤️ I recently moved to Connecticut with my boyfriend to start a new chapter in our lives. While we look for a new home, I have no work. I’m looking for pet-sitting opportunities. Right now I have a very flexible schedule, so I’m available to give your pets plenty of attention, care, and love! 🐾❤️ I’m currently staying somewhere temporarily while my boyfriend and I look for our own home, so I’m not able to have pets stay with me right now. However, I’m more than happy to come to your home and care for your pets there! I have a very flexible schedule and can stay for as long as your pets need, whether that’s a few hours, overnight, or multiple days. 🐾❤️

“Marissa was amazing and attentive. She sent updates everyday with pictures. Maizy was so happy, warmed up to Marissa right away. Gave her lots of kisses and attention the whole time Marissa was there. We can't say enough on how happy we are with the car, attention and love our fur baby received while we were away. We will be using Marissa again in the future.”

About: I’ve had many dogs all different kind of breeds. Very good at training and giving them attention. Takes them for walks 1 to 3 times a day I’m free Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some weekends if 2 week notice. Mornings afternoons and evenings work durning the week. Weekends when I’m available mainly evenings and nights I don’t have a fenced yard but I will keep them on leash at all times and be very close so they don’t take off
“Kaitlynn has taken great care of our greyhounds. She continues to be thorough and communicative. One of our dogs is leash reactive and Kaitlynn is able to manage this well. Highly recommend to others!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life and currently help care for my family’s Labrador Retriever and Chihuahua, so I’m experienced with both large and small breeds and different energy levels. I’ve also pet sat and watched multiple dogs for friends and family over the years, including feeding, walking, playing, and making sure they feel comfortable and cared for while their owners are away. I truly love dogs and animals and enjoy spending time with them, whether that means going on walks, playing outside, or just giving them attention and companionship. I’m responsible, patient, and will always treat your pets like they’re part of my own family. My schedule is very flexible, and I’m always willing to help whenever I can. I’m able to work around and make time for pet care, including walks, drop-ins, weekends, and evening visits. I understand how important reliable care is for pets, and I’m happy to accommodate different schedules whenever possible. Safety, trust, and a calm environment are my top priorities when caring for pets. I always make sure animals are in a secure, comfortable, and stress-free setting where they feel safe and cared for. I closely follow any instructions provided by owners and pay attention to each pet’s individual needs and routines. I treat every animal like they are my own children, with love, patience, and responsibility. I understand how much trust it takes to leave a pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility very seriously by making sure they are always safe, happy, and well cared for.

“Nicole was absolutely amazing! She was so detailed and thoughtful in her communication with us, and I felt so comforted knowing that she was looking after our pups. She also helped us out when we had a last minute travel delay & came to check on our dogs on short notice. Truly the best! Will definitely be rebooking!”

“Sarah and Mason took great care of our dog and two cats. When we arrived home after a week-long work trip, we arrived to find a lovely note letting us know when our dog was walked last, and when the animals were fed. Not only that the house was a clean as we left it and all the animals were super-happy. We will definitely use them again!!”

“Tyler is an amazing sitter who will go above and beyond for your pups! He took amazing care of our dog Dozer and was very communicative. Would highly recommend him a d will definitely book again in the future!”

About: I fostered kittens and cats until I was 6 years old, and I grew up around big dogs like mastiffs and pitties! I’ve grew up with cats my whole life and currently have one; I have owned a dog, leopard gecko, guinea pig, fish, and small insects. I have also pet sat a lovebird and bunny before! I currently only work during weekends and have a completely flexible weekday schedule as of now, I often go on daily long hikes/walks and am free throughout any part of the day and have plenty of time to hang out with and care for your pets! I have a large back yard in which your dogs are free in run in, though not fenced in, and a spacious house with one cat that has her own space if needed to be separated. I also go on hikes every week and try to go on them every day, so I’d love to take your pet on long walks or just chill at home with them!
“Sophia had great communication with me before, during and after her stay. My pup was THRILLED with her and I'm sure that's because she was given love and attention. My instructions for the home were followed perfectly and it was left in pristine condition. I would definitely book with Sophia again!”

“Anya was wonderful and our dogs loved her. She did a great job ensuring they were well taken care of and loved. She helped take care of things around the house and sent pictures and updates while we were away. Would 100% recommend her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Foster
Lily was wonderful! She cared for our two elderly dogs in our home for a week, and they were clearly well loved, comfortable, and well looked after. She provided regular photos and updates, spent extra time with them, and made sure they received plenty of attention and affection. She also took excellent care of our home—watering plants, maintaining the pool, handling unexpected refrigerated package deliveries, and even washing the towels and sheets she used before leaving everything as she found it. Lily is trustworthy, thoughtful, and truly goes above and beyond. We would absolutely recommend her and would gladly have her care for our dogs and home again

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,748 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Foster. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Foster walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Foster maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Foster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Foster. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
