“Kayla was great. Was on time, took the pups on a nice long walk, sent a few pictures, and communicated with me when she picked them up and dropped them off. Will definitely be reaching out for here services again.”

About: We are a cozy, warm, loving family of four who love animals! I (Jenny) rescued my first dog, Summit-a black lab mix many years ago. He was with us over 14 years and we loved him so much! We just recently adopted a kitten a little over a year ago. She is a tuxedo house cat named Smokey. Drop-in visits and dog walking are what we are able to offer as of right now. We may bring boarding back into the mix when Smokey is a bit older. Jenny works part time and has time for drop-in visits as well as dog walking. If allowed by the pet parents our kids (10 and 12) would also love to help out! We play with Smokey in our home with balls, springs, socks! I am happy to pet and play with your pet. Feed, let out, clean litter boxes, and taking leashed dogs for walks.
About: I’m a remote worker who has been lucky enough to love and care for my own cat, dog, hamster, and horse, as well as numerous other critters in kennels, barns, and animal shelters. I work remotely, so my time is very flexible. I’m happy to drop in for a visit or walk any time of day, rain, blizzard, or shine! I live in a quiet house with an eleven-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who loves playing tug-of-war and snuggling with his furry buddies. When I’m working with a pet, I always play off of the animal’s behavior and respect their boundaries. The health, safety, and cleanliness of your pet are my top priorities.
About: I've had dogs in my family ever since I was a little kid, so I have a good amount of experience. Over the last couple of years especially, I have really worked to have meaningful relationships with my family dogs, spending quality time with them inside and outside, taking them for walks, and providing them with plenty of love. Unfortunately, the family dog we've for nearly 15 years passed away recently :( I put together a memory book of her this last Christmas, attesting to just how special she was to our family. I am a very respectful, friendly, and dependent sitter. I can always be counted on to not only do what's right, but to go above and beyond expectations. I prioritize a healthy and active lifestyle, so sitting on my phone or being lazy would never be an issue! I love to take dogs for walks outside, or simply even just play and spend time with them! I am currently in the process of finding full time work for this summer. I would likely be working Mon-Fri; however, that isn't 100% confirmed. With that in mind, Saturday and Sunday would likely be the days that would work best for dog walking and/or house sitting. Depending on what specific work hours look like, I would also be available to walk dogs during weekdays as well, most likely in the evening hours after dinner time (5pm and on) In my client's home, I will always be respectful of their home and property. I demonstrate amazing responsibility and can be very well trusted to follow all/any specific instructions in caring for the client's dog! Above all, I will always make sure everyone is safe and taken care of, but also have fun as well!
About: I have had 4 dogs of my own and have taken care of lots of friends and families pets. I have taken care of pets of all ages and breeds. I am currently working part-time. I am home from college and I have very flexible hours. I am able to work weekdays and weekends! I will take care of pets with fences or no fences. I will watch them outside and make sure they don’t get into anything in the house!
About: I've been taking care of my own animals since I was 8 years old. I grew up with multiple pets in my house hold. I raised a chinchilla to be 18 and my oldest dog was almost 16. Our family recently moved to the area and I’m just getting back into Rover. I'm currently a teacher so I have plenty of time to check in on your animal(s). I have a flexible schedule in the summer so I will try to work with your schedule. I am able to check in on your animal(s), give them attention, take them for a walk, and feed them/give them potty breaks. If there is bad weather or the animal needs extra attention (for longer periods of time) they can hang out in my home with me. I have three friendly golden dogs!
About: Hi there! My name is Teresa! I have a family that absolutely loves dogs and is thinking about adding another pup to our household and thought this would be a good way to see if it would be a good fit for our family! My husband and I and our four kids(13, 11, 6, 5) have had our current dog for 7 months and had adopted a rescue prior to that that we had for almost a year! We both had dogs growing up so this is such an important thing we want to teach our kids! We love to take our dog on walks and we absolutely love to play with him in our house, and we can’t wait to do the same with yours! Our fenced in yard offers a great place for dogs to be able to run and have so much fun! Please reach out if you have any questions, our schedule can be quite flexible depending on your needs!

About: I have 3 years of pet sitting experience caring for dogs, cats, fish, and lizards. I grew up around animals and currently have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and farm animals, so I’m very comfortable with different personalities, sizes, and routines. I’ve cared for up to 3 dogs at once and have experience with pets ranging from puppies and kittens to senior animals (dogs 1–14 years old, cats 1–17 years old). I’m also comfortable administering medications since my own pets require them. Experience with breeds ranges from English Mastiffs to small terriers. I currently work part time, so I will have plenty of time to spend with your pets! I am free most days of the week, and have a very flexible schedule. I make sure to treat not only your pets, but your property with respect and privacy. Your pets safety and happiness is one of my main goals with all of my visits.

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life and have cared for two of my own since I was little, so being around dogs feels completely natural to me. I currently work at a dog boarding and daycare facility, where I’ve gained hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, playtime, basic handling, and reading dog behavior. I genuinely love spending time with dogs, and I’m excited to use my experience to give your dogs safe, reliable, and affectionate care. I’m a high school student but free all summer! I only work a few days every 2 weeks at a dog daycare and boarding facility so I have plenty of time to stop by and walk or check in on your pet! I have so much experience with all situations pets can get into I know first aid or even how to calm a pet down. I’m experienced in all sizes and personalities and can handle anything!
“Megan was great with Thor and Loki. Great with her communication and sharing pictures of their walks. Will definitely be reaching out to her again and would recommend her to anyone!!”

About: Hello! I’m a lifelong dog lover and experienced pet owner who has had dogs my entire life. As an educator, I’m looking for summer work doing something I genuinely enjoy. Taking care of animals is exactly that for me. I’m available throughout the summer with a very flexible schedule, so I can accommodate daytime walks, drop-ins, or extended care as needed. I’m very active and love being outdoors, which makes me a great fit for dogs who enjoy walks, playtime, and lots of attention. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I’ll make sure your dog feels safe, cared for, and loved while you’re away. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, energetic play, or just companionship, I’ll tailor my care to their needs and personality. I look forward to meeting you and your pets. As mentioned in my description, I'm an educator so my availability is currently super flexible throughout the summer. You let me know what you need and I'm likely available to make it happen. I know how important the safety of pets are to you and your family. With two dogs of my own, I know how much time and thought goes into deciding who you will trust to take care of your canine family members. I assure you that I will do everything I can to provide a loving and caring experience for your pets while you are unable to be with them.
About: Hi, I’m Dana! Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I have hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages, including puppies, senior pets, and pets with medical needs. I’ve cared for paralyzed dogs, senior cats, and pets that require medication and extra patience, so I understand how important trust, safety, and consistency are when it comes to your furry family members. I treat every pet like they’re my own — with love, attention, patience, and dependable care. Whether your dog needs an energetic walk, a quick drop-in visit while you’re away, or overnight companionship and care, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and happy the entire time. Pet care will be my full-time focus for the next 3–4 months before I head to college, which means I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of availability for walks, drop-ins, and sitting. I’m reliable, communicative, and committed to keeping you updated with photos and messages so you always know your pet is in great hands. I also have previous pet-sitting experience with repeat families who trusted me to care for their pets while they traveled, and I can provide references upon request. My previous experience as a pet sitter has provided me with references from past families who attest to my exceptional care and dedication in providing the best possible care for their animals during their absences.
About: Im a pet owner myself with 2 kitties and a bully breed. I’m comfortable with all kinds of pets including reptiles and birds as well as doing nail clippings with non aggressive pets. I taught my dog a few tricks like shake and spin. Overall very flexible with care on my days off. Thanks for looking! I currently work full-time 3 days a week, 12 hr shifts. Aside from that I’m free weekends to care for your babies while you take a vacation or a quick break! My pets are always supervised as they tend to be velcro babies. I take my pets out on a schedule as well as have a feeding schedule twice a day. Trips to the dog park are an option so long as safety is kept in mind, I tend to go when the park is less busy to avoid any potential fights. Pets are allowed on furniture and beds as they are family.
“I booked Shannon for a dog walk and was very happy with her service! Shannon was very responsive, open about her schedule, and worked with me to ensure my dogs needs were met. She took the time to meet and get to know my fur babies and showed that she truly cares. Shannon was a great with Roxy and Burton and we plan to continue working with Shannon in the future. Highly recommend!”

About: Hi! I'm a lifelong dog lover with hands-on experience caring for dogs of all ages, breeds, personalities, and needs. I grew up in a family that always had dogs, and caring for them has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. Today, I share my home with two wonderful dogs—a Cocker Spaniel and a Bulldog—who keep life fun, active, and full of love. Over the years, I've gained experience raising two puppies of different breeds, giving me a strong understanding of puppy care, training consistency, socialization, and the patience that young dogs need as they grow and learn. I've also cared for senior dogs, including administering medications and accommodating age-related mobility and health needs. In addition, I have experience working with special-needs and disabled dogs, and I understand the importance of providing compassionate, individualized care tailored to each dog's unique situation. As a teacher on summer break, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to your pet. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playtime, enrichment activities, or simply relaxing with a caring companion, I'll make sure they receive the attention, affection, and care they deserve. I know how important it is to trust someone with your furry family member, and I strive to provide a safe, loving, and stress-free experience for both pets and their owners. I'll keep you updated with regular messages and photos so you can enjoy peace of mind while you're away. My goal is to make your dog feel comfortable, secure, and loved—just like they do with you. I look forward to meeting you and your pet and providing the same level of care I would want for my own pets! I am currently not working a set schedule so I have plenty of time for all of your pet care needs! I can do house sitting, dog walking and drop ins on any day of the week. When I stay in someone’s home to care for their pet, I will treat it with the upmost respect, leaving it better than I found it. I am clean, respectful and responsible.
“Michelle is great! She was very communicative and asked a lot of good questions to make sure she was prepared to give my dog the best care. My dog and cat instantly clicked with her. Looking forward to more future bookings. :)”

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.
Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Elko. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.
For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Elko.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elko. On Rover:
- 93% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
