Sarah was a wonderful pet sitter. She took excellent care of my dog and cat. She even dealt with a intruding racoon and she also watered my huge collection of plants. I really appreciated her hard work and care.

Mike took good care of our two older dogs. They were happy and healthy apon our 5 day return and the house was great as we left it. He got packages from outside that werent supose to be delivered so that was great too. He showed up on time and stayed until our agreed upon touch down of flight very late the last night. Knowing he lives in the town we do also is nice. We will definitely get him to stay again if he's free next time we need a sitter. He even fixed our tv remote/sound bar connectivity issues. Thanks Mike! Dana

Spencer is an amazing young man. From our fist meeting we knew he was the one. He was punctual, polite, cheerful, and our dogs loved him. After two meetings and many texts we booked him. This was the best vacation I have ever had. I felt so secure my dogs were being well cared for. When we arrived home, our dogs were pleased to see us but not desperate that we were home. I could tell Spencer was their buddy and they liked him a lot. Also our house was in better shape than when we left. We was respectful of all spaces, and did everything and more than we asked. I cannot say enough good about this young man. We will be booking him again.

Alicia was so incredible, my baby loved her almost immediately and she was so thorough during our meet and greet. I can tell she really put her heart and time into my pets. With the consistent updates and pictures there was not a doubt in my mind that my pets were being loved like they were her own.

About: Hi! I’m Samantha, an experienced pet sitter and animal lover. I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. From energetic puppies to senior dogs who prefer a slower pace. I know every pet has their own routine, and I believe the best care comes from keeping them comfortable in their familiar environment. Whether that’s sticking to a feeding schedule, administering medications, providing enrichment, or simply spending quality time cuddling on the couch, I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs. I treat every home with the same respect I’d want someone to show mine, and I strive to make every pet feel safe, loved, and stress-free while you’re away. I work part time in an optometry office and part time at a spa, which allows me to offer a flexible schedule for pet care. I’m available early mornings, during my lunch break on most weekdays, evenings after work, and all day Friday and Sunday. During overnight stays, I provide care before work, stop by during my lunch break when needed, return after work for dinner, walks, and quality time, then stay overnight with your pet. I always strive to maintain their normal routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and any special instructions before the booking. I always keep dogs leashed when out, unless you’ve specifically approved otherwise, and they’re in a secure area. I make sure gates and doors are secured, fresh water is always available, and I closely monitor pets during walks, playtime, and outdoor breaks. I treat every client’s home with respect, keep it clean, and make sure it’s in the same condition.

Rebeca did an amazing job house sitting and caring for our reactive dog, Ginger. From the moment we met her, it was clear that she was patient, attentive, and genuinely cared about Ginger's well-being. Caring for a reactive dog requires extra understanding and compassion, and Rebeca handled everything beautifully. She kept us updated throughout our trip with pictures and the sweetest stories about Ginger's day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. When we returned home, Ginger was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Our house was also in great shape. We are incredibly grateful for the love and attention Rebeca gave to Ginger and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and responsible pet sitter. We will absolutely book with her again!

About: I've cared for dogs for years, including my own pets as well as dogs belonging to friends and family. Through that experience, I've learned how important it is to provide a safe, loving, and dependable environment where every dog feels comfortable and cared for. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, so I take the time to follow each owner's instructions carefully, whether that's feeding schedules, walks, playtime, or simply giving them the attention and affection they need. My goal is to make your pet feel happy and secure while you're away. I'll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands. I treat every dog with the same care, patience, and love that I give my own. I'm currently in college, but I only have three classes this semester. Therefore, I will have more time to play with your pup! I'm available to board on weekends and most weekdays. The only times I will be out are Tuesdays and Thursdays before 2 pm and Wednesdays after 2pm. I have a fenced yard to play outside in and your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. Whether I'm caring for your pet in your home or mine, I'll make sure they have plenty of attention, exercise, fresh water, and a calm, loving environment. I follow each pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions you provide. I understand that consistency helps pets feel safe and comfortable while you're away. I also make sure pets are always supervised during walks, keep doors and gates secure, and pay close attention to their behavior to ensure they're happy and healthy. I'll treat your home with respect and keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know how your pet is doing.

About: As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve been caring for dogs since childhood, growing up with Labrador Retrievers and learning firsthand the importance of patience, consistency, and affection. Over the years, I’ve helped whelp litters, fostered rescue dogs (including one who became a beloved member of our family), and cared for dogs of all ages and temperaments. My home is peaceful and dog-friendly, shared with my sweet mixed-breed dog, Prema, and features a large, securely fenced yard for safe play and exploration. Daily walks, plenty of attention, and a calm, nurturing environment ensure that every dog in my care feels comfortable, loved, and right at home. I’m currently working from home, part-time, and teaching yoga at a nearby gym a couple of days a week, so your sweet pet would rarely be home on their own. My single-story home has a large, fenced yard where your dog can roam freely to play, take a sunbath, or chase butterflies. My 32 lb dog, Prema, will keep your dog company on daily walks and at home. The home has a doggie door, so your dog is free to roam in the house and outside. The doggie door is locked at night. Ideally, you would supply you dog’s favorite bed (although we have extras) a collar and leash, and preferred food with instructions on feeding timing, amount, etc. I want your pet to feel happy, safe, and have fun while here. 🦮

Our dogs loved Roselle! We came home to very happy dogs. Most importantly, the dogs were not stressed at all after we were gone a few days. After their initial excitement when we got home, they settled right in like we had never left. She gave them their medications and did everything according to our instructions with taking care of all three dogs as well as our house.

About: With 2 years of volunteer experience at the SPCA and a lifetime of caring for my own two dogs, I have developed a deep understanding of canine behavior, care, and companionship. I’ve walked and cared for dogs of all sizes, from 10-pound pups to 175-pound gentle giants, so I’m comfortable handling dogs with different energy levels and temperaments. I treat every pet like my own, ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and well-cared for while you're away! I have a pretty open schedule during the summer, so I'm available most days for walks, drop-ins, feeding, playtime, and spending time with pets. Since I do not have major commitments during the summer, I can provide consistent care and adjust my schedule to meet each pet's specific needs. Since I can’t host pets, I’m happy to care for dogs in their own home, where they feel safe and comfortable. I always prioritize safety and trust, making sure pets are well-supervised, have fresh water, and get plenty of exercise and attention. Whether it’s a walk, playtime, or simply keeping them company, I treat every dog with love and patience as if they were my own. I also respect each owner’s instructions to ensure their pet’s routine stays consistent and stress-free!

About: I grew up around horses and learned to respect all living creatures large and small. We always had pets at home and they gravitated towards me because I like to play and have fun with them. I had a cat for 16 years in my youth and loved her so much. Kitties will always have a special place in my heart. I have had many pets over the years and my most recent were two rescue shepherd/husky mix wonderful family members. They were brother and sister and both passed away. I do not currently have any pets of my own right now. Pet sitting is the joy of my life, and I cannot imagine a day without walking, playing and cuddling with furry friends. I am home all day and available to spend quality time with your fur babies! I am extremely flexible and am here for all of your pet’s needs. I like as much information about the pet as you'd like to give me. Whatever your pet needs, I will provide for them. I have lots of experience with anxious dogs and senior dogs and cats. About: I have taken care of animals ever since I was little. Since I was about eight years old I have looked after a variety of animals. Including dogs, cats, and even reptiles like lizards and bearded dragons! I also previously worked at multiple dog daycares and was a shift supervisor at one of them for over a year. I currently have no job so the most I am out of the house is two or three hours and we do frequent potty breaks. I also take them to the dog park if weather permits:)! I have a fenced in yard with two very friendly dogs who love to have friends. And plenty of extra room inside the house so the dogs have their own space aswell!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Elkhorn on Rover is $62.16 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,624 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Elkhorn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elkhorn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elkhorn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elkhorn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elkhorn. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
