“Lindsey was great with our girls and cat. She communicated with us daily when she was leaving the house and getting home. She sent photos and kept us updated on how the dogs and cat were doing. It put us at ease knowing they were being taken care of. We will definitely be using her again.”
“Adriannne was amazing! She went above and beyond to take care of our pets and our home, while we were away for a week on a trip. She followed all of our instructions for care. She was reliable and communicated quickly and frequently with us before and during our trip. We have a cat and three dogs, including a high-energy 110 pound lab, and Adrianne took great care of all of them. Adrianne demonstrated that she has the expertise and experience with how to manage a variety of pets and dog breeds and personalities. We returned to a very clean home and very happy and healthy pets. We will definitely reach out to Adrianne again next time we take a trip.”

About: I got my first dog when I was three and have always had 5+ animals in the house. I am good with any breed of dog. I have some puppy training experience and I can also work with disability animals. I just need to know if they have medication and the time to take them or other accommodations that they might need. I’m not sure if people have reptiles that need sitting but I’m good with those too. I am currently working part time so I have plenty of time to play with puppies or any other animals. I have always had a soft spot for animals so I love spending time with them. I have a dog who gets taken potty every couple of hours and is fed every morning and every night. I also have a cat and two leopard geckos. My cat and dog are usually upstairs so I can keep the other animals downstairs if they’re not pet friendly. My geckos stay in my room.

“Samantha was absolutely incredible, and I cannot recommend her enough. From the moment we left, she gave us complete peace of mind with thoughtful daily updates and so many sweet photos of our dogs. It was obvious they weren’t just being looked after, they were genuinely loved and cared for. She went above and beyond in every way. She brought in our mail and packages, tidied up the house before leaving, and treated our home with so much care and respect. Coming home to happy pups and a clean house after being across the country was such a gift. Samantha and her daughter were both amazing, and I truly can’t thank them enough. Finding someone you trust with your pets is priceless, and I feel so lucky to have found her. We will absolutely be booking with Samantha again, and I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for someone who will care for their pets like they’re her own.”

“Jamie was absolutely wonderful. She sent pictures of the dogs and treated them like her own. Our rescue dog even felt comfortable around her, which he is very shy. Overall, I will definitely be using her in the future.”

About: All my life, I have bonded with both dogs and cats, and animals in general. I have been told that I have an ability to connect with any animal effortlessly. While I have been dog-sitting for friends, family, and others for about four years, I also have worked as a Caregiver at CARE STL, an animal shelter in St. Louis. During my time at CARE, I fed, walked, played, and formed connections with over 100 dogs, as well as cats and other animals. After that, I started working as a server/bartender at Bar-K, to make money while still working in an animal-friendly environment. Since then, I have been a reliable, trusted, and consistent dog-sitter for many clients. The safety and care of any animal is always my biggest priority, and I promise that I will not disappoint! I currently am not working, as I have just recently graduated from Saint Louis University. In other words, I am more often than not, completely available to work anytime on Weekdays and Weekends. However, on June 1st, I will be starting an internship that requires 20 hours a week but my schedule is extremely flexible, as the internship is willing to adjust to whatever schedules I have. Because of my flexible availability, I am able to spend as much time with your fur baby as you would like me to. Whether it be cuddling, playing, or going outside, I will provide all of my attention and services to the care of your animals.

About: I have several years of hands-on experience caring for dogs, including regularly dog sitting for a couple from my church who had two dogs. They trusted me many times to feed, walk, play with, and check in on both dogs while they were away. I followed detailed care instructions, kept them on their normal routines, and made sure they were safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Managing two dogs at once helped me build patience, attentiveness, and confidence. In addition, I spent most of a summer independently caring for and training my own dog as a puppy. I worked on potty training, leash walking, and basic commands using consistency and positive reinforcement. That experience taught me responsibility, structure, and how important routine is for young dogs. I am dependable, observant, and genuinely love being around animals. I treat every dog as if they were my own and prioritize their safety, happiness, and well-being. I am currently looking for a summer position starting in May, which means I will have a very flexible and open schedule. I will be available most weekdays and weekends and can provide consistent care, walks, check-ins, or extended stays as needed. Pet care fits easily into my routine because I enjoy being active and spending time with animals. I am dependable, punctual, and able to adjust my availability based on your pet’s specific needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding schedules, walking routines, medications, and household rules. I prioritize keeping pets on their normal routine to reduce stress and help them feel comfortable while their owners are away. I always ensure doors, gates, and leashes are secure and monitor pets closely during walks and outdoor time. If caring for a pet in my home, I provide a clean, safe, and calm environment with plenty of supervision, playtime, and attention. I am attentive to body language and behavior to make sure pets feel safe and supported. My goal is to build trust not only with pets but with owners, so they feel confident their dog is in responsible and caring hands.
About: I've taken care of dogs since I was 10 years old. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied upon me to watch their dogs on many occasions. I work during the day, and able to watch dogs 3pm and after every day during the week and available during the weekends as well. I have a fenced in yard so we can play and hangout inside the house or outside with comfort. Always a good time with me
“Nina took great care of my 3 fur babies in our home for a few days. She sent photos and kept us posted on how they were doing, medications, etc. Really appreciate her attentiveness and communication.”

“Latasha was wonderful! From the beginning she came for a meet and greet and got down on the floor with my Percy! She asked very specific questions about his routine and wanted to ensure he was as comfortable as possible. During her stay she was very interactive with Percy. Took him on outings and walks and made sure he had plenty of play time and attention. On a night of a storm she let Percy sleep in bed with her to help comfort him!! Any concerns she had she messaged me immediately. She was great about sending updates and pictures to make sure I felt he was in good hands which definitely decreased my worries. Latasha treated my home with respect and left my home just as she found it. She even helped me with my newly planted garden to ensure it stayed watered while I was away. I will definitely use Latasha again in the future.”

About: I’ve taken care of my dogs in my home since I was around 13. A lot of neighbors rely on me to watch their dogs or even stay the night. I have raised many puppies throughout my life. I am currently working part-time. I work Monday, Friday, and Saturday nights. I also am in school from 8-2:40 throughout the week. Other than that I am available a lot!! I take my dogs out on leashes. If there is a fence able for the dogs to go out, I will let them out but stay out there with them.
“Niki was great! She kept us updated on our two dogs every day with pictures included. And both dogs looked to be enjoying themselves the whole time. She even prepaired their evening meals I always give them. I highly recommend her as a dog sitter. Next time we have to head out of town we will definitely ask her to watch our two dogs again!”

About: I’ve been caring for cats for many years and have experience pet sitting for both cats and dogs for friends and family. While my background is stronger with cats, I’m comfortable handling the day-to-day needs of dogs as well, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and maintaining routines. I know how important consistency is for pets, especially when their owners are away, so I make it a priority to carefully follow any instructions regarding feeding, medications, dietary restrictions, routines, or other special care needs. Because I work remotely, I’m also able to spend much more time at home with pets than many sitters can, which means more company, attention, and supervision throughout the day. I currently work remotely on a typical Monday–Friday daytime schedule and am able to work from anywhere within the state, which means I can comfortably set up my work-from-home station while house and pet sitting. This allows me to be much more present and attentive throughout the day compared to sitters who may be away for long periods of time. My work is also fairly flexible, allowing me to adjust meetings and tasks as needed to help accommodate feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, medications, and other routine care. Weekends are typically very open for me as well, giving me even more flexibility and availability for your pets’ needs. I currently have two cats of my own: Draco, an 11-year-old part Manx, and Loki, a 6-year-old black American Shorthair. I’ve had both of them since they were kittens, and caring for them has given me years of hands-on experience with maintaining routines, monitoring health, and creating a calm, safe environment for pets. Draco previously needed some extra attention with his weight and diet, and through a consistent feeding routine and focused care, he was able to lose over 10 pounds and maintain a much healthier lifestyle. That experience reinforced for me how important consistency, patience, and closely following care instructions can be for pets. Loki is a rescue and can be a little shy at first, so I also understand the importance of giving pets time to adjust, respecting their comfort levels, and helping anxious pets feel safe and secure. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I aim to maintain their normal routines as closely as possible so they feel comfortable, relaxed, and well cared for while their owners are away.

About: I will care for your pets as if they were my own and give them all the love and attention they could ever want! I am trustworthy and dependable. I currently work part time as a nanny so I have plenty of availability to take care of your pets! I currently work 3 days a week, 7-8 hours a day at my nanny job. FAQs for House Sitting - Dittmer
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,166 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dittmer. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dittmer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dittmer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dittmer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dittmer. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
