“Erin is amazing! Our dog Stoney and 2 goats love her. When we had another sitter cancel on us last minute, Erin was available and jumped right into learning the ropes of our home and animals. Our dog gets so excited to see her when she comes over. I also really appreciate the open communication and pictures sent daily. She has given us a sense of relief knowing our pets are in good hands. She also always leave the house clean!”

About: I am an animal lover and have had one or more dogs my entire life of different sizes and breeds. I have years of experience helping friends, neighbors, and family with their pets. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, hamsters, bunnies, and chinchillas. So I am happy to care for more than just dogs if needed. My services include house drop in visits, and dog walking. I am always open to creating customized care plans to suit individual client needs. I am very flexible and willing to work you to ensure your fur baby is happy, healthy, and comfortable in your absence. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have. I look forward to working with your and your animals!😇 *Prices may vary depending on level of care needed. I currently work a full time job, and come home on my lunch break everyday to check on my dog. There’s about 3 - 4 hours the dog may be left alone. So if you require dog boarding, your dog needs to be crate trained and I request that you bring their crate from home. I am willing to make exceptions just explain your situation. I have an unfenced at shared yard which my dog plays amazing in! Lots of space for the dogs to run and play. There are also some amazing trails and beach access near by that are perfect for nice walks.

About: Hey there fury friends and owners! I'm Bailey and I love animals, I have car, dog, bird and farm animal experience. I would love to help youtake care of yours. I'm so looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for stopping by my page. My availability currently is pretty open. I’m available part-time on a weekly service-perhaps every couple days if needed. It all depends on the location and services needed. I’m unsure how many pets I’m willing to take on at the moment. I can’t help but speak to an animal in high pitch tones as well as full on conversation with them like they’re answering me! Anything to get a head twist or a butt wiggle.

“Samantha was very communicative, sent lots of pictures upon request and took great care of our home while we were away for five nights. We have three dogs which we know can be a handful and Samantha had no problem stepping up, walking them multiple times a day, cleaning them if needed, and left the home in great shape, with her bedding washed and folded. Would recommend. Thank you”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs since elementary school. Training horses and dogs has been my passion. Understanding dogs instincts and pack language helps me better serve their unique needs and personalities. My 35 years of animal care encompasses dog sitting, training, flying cross country on cabin with pup, breeding, and rearing physically and emotionally solid pups. I’ve ventured with my 4-legged buddies on hikes, walks, beach trips, long car drives, hotel stays, retirement homes, schools, river floats, horse rides, ranch work, and river walks. Living in the beautiful PNW there’s always fun to have with our pooches! I’m a work at home mom with four children and a beautiful tribe of animal, loving people. Kids and animals have routines to thrive. There’s always someone home to be with the dogs so no fur babe left behind on our watch. We go places the dogs can ride with us. Exploring the logging roads and nature walks are everyone’s favorite. Fenced yard and doggo doors allow for in and out as they please while at home. Routine starts with breakfast. Then it’s playtime with the kids while farm chores take place. If your dog eats 3x a day we’ll do lunch, more playtime, rest time since this is equally as important. Mental stimulation to stay sharp means using snuffle rugs, treat dispensers, hand feeding meals while reinforcing manners and obedience. My kids have a schedule and boundaries as do the animals giving everyone peace of mind.

“We had a wonderful experience with Marie and would absolutely book her again. She took excellent care of our 8-year-old indoor/outdoor tabby, and when we returned from our trip, he was relaxed, happy, and clearly very well loved. She sent us regular updates with photos and videos, spent lots of time playing with him, and even bought him some new toys. It was obvious that the two of them really bonded. She also kept an eye on an old wound he had and was very attentive to his well-being throughout our time away. She truly went above and beyond. When our cat stayed out later than usual, she walked around the neighborhood calling for him until he came home. We really appreciated how seriously she took his safety and how much she clearly cared about him. She has a big heart for animals and a very good understanding of cats. She even had some thoughtful suggestions about where we might place his food and water to make things work even better for him. She took wonderful care of our home as well. Mail and packages were brought inside, our plants were watered, and everything was extremely tidy when we returned. She even left us some fresh blueberries as a welcome-home snack, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, we really couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Marie is caring, responsible, communicative, and willing to go the extra mile. She will absolutely be at the top of our list the next time we need a house sitter, and we would recommend her without hesitation.”

“Our first time leveraging Karen’s services. Her previous reviews intrigued me and she did not disappoint. Karen was an excellent communicator from the outset and through our time together. She is proactive, thoughtful and very warm. To both the two leggeds and four leggeds! She sent regular and thorough updates and pictures and videos of playtime and koi feeding. We remarked many times how fortunate we felt to have our sweet pups, koi, and our home and property in her good hands. When we returned, everything was very tidy and everyone and everything was calm. Just how we like it! Karen is a perfect sitter and an amazing person. So glad we got to meet her!”

About: My partner (Chip) and I have completed over 5 pet-sits on the platform, Trusted Housesitters. We both grew up with dogs and live a very active lifestyle, so rest assured your dog (or cat) will get plenty of attention and exercise! My partner and I both work from home, so we have plenty of time and bandwidth to care for your pets! We can take for walks, potty breaks throughout the day, and give them plenty of attention while we are working on our laptops. We only have an apartment, so no fenced yard but have easy access to Cathedral Park, Pier Park, and Peninsula Park. We're also right across from Forest Park, so if your pet likes to hike, we can take them on a forest adventure!

“Kristin was the most thorough and thoughtful pet sitter I could have ever asked for. She was so incredibly good with my older dog and two cats while on a trip away for a week. Every single day I got an update with pictures and video of the happy furry crew. I knew my pets were getting the very best care possible and it made being away from them so much easier on my heart. I would say that Kristin is hands down, the best caretaker for pets I have ever experienced. (I also will mention that we came back with a pristine house - Kristin took care of the house beautifully too. ❤️)”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and genuinely love spending time with them. I’m a dog owner myself, so I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust caring for your pet. I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels, and I’m happy to tailor each walk to what your dog needs—whether that’s a relaxed stroll, plenty of sniffing and exploring, or a more energetic walk. I’ll treat your pup with the same patience, attention, and care I’d want for my own. I have a flexible schedule and am available for walks throughout the week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I’m happy to accommodate both regular weekly walks and occasional last-minute needs when possible! Your pet’s safety and comfort always come first. I’ll follow your care instructions closely, keep dogs secure and supervised, and make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while they’re with me.

About: Besides my experience with my own pets I began volunteering at the Oregon Humane Society at 17. After that I went on to dog sit for various different families part time for around 3 years. I have a big window of availability currently. I’m going back to school in the fall, but until then I am just working part time. I work for my grandpa, so my schedule is super flexible! When I dog sit in the clients home I will follow your instructional list for feeding/walks/ activities/ grooming ect. I have car so I can take your pup to nearby parks/ dog parks if you would like, or just for a classic stroll around your neighborhood if you prefer. For clients that would prefer I take car if you dog in my home I have a fenced in back yard and live near several park so we can go on several adventures. Or just chill at home if you have a senior/ more low energy dog. My only deal breaker is that your dog isn’t reactive towards cats.

FAQs for House Sitting - Delena

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Delena walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Delena maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Delena choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
