marked best answer Clients ask if you are available then you don't hear from them again?

This happened a number of times already, I'd get a request from a client, who typically ask if I am available for boarding, I'd then reply with a standard template, as follow:

"Hi owners name, thank you for inquiry. My schedule is open for the duration. I had a look at *dogs name"'s description, and looks like she will be a good fit. How would you like to set up a meet and greet some time soon before we confirm the booking?"

Then, I don't hear from them again. Am I doing something wrong? Does this happen to everyone? Do people don't have the decency to at least let me know they have found someone else?

Whats everyones experience on this? My biggest problem is that since I only take 1 dog at a time, I won't show up in the search as available while I am waiting to hear from the client like this.

Thanks, Felix

asked a question Is it reasonable to charge a clean up fee if the dog I am boarding has a diarrhea accident?

So I have this dog who is a regular client, and usually I trust this dog 100%. In fact, this is the only dog that I board who I trust with allowing on bed, he has never had any accidents.

This time, he came for a daycare, and had a really bad diarrhea accident. Now I don't really care about the place he had the diarrhea, but the main problem was he got poop all over him as he walked over the area a couple times, so I had no choice to give him a bath.

When I told the owners about it, they said they knew he's been having an upset stomach, and knew he could have diarrhea.

So I wanna ask the community, would it be reasonable to:

1 - Charge a fee for cleaning up the diarrhea? and / or 2 - Charge a fee for having to take a bath for the dog?

I don't want the owner to feel robbed that they stop coming, since we really love this dog.

What would you do?

Thanks

asked a question Asking for reference from previous boarder for a dog?

Hello there,

I have a dog coming soon, and I noticed (in the pictures) this dog have boarded with others before.

Is there a way I can ask those folks about the dog?

Does it worry you that dog have boarded with 3 different people in 1 year? I typically think people would stick with the same place if they liked the service, yes? Of course it is also possible the people weren't available as well, but I wonder if there is any issue with the dog that the boarders are refusing a repeat.

Thanks!

asked a question Do the Client's Review get reviewed before they get published?

My latest client txted me today after their dogs stay saying they have written a review for me, but I can't see it (yet?).

Do the Client's Review get reviewed before they get published? Or does it usually just take some time?

I never thought of it before, and I have been on Rover for a year now. Usually I just see the review eventually, but noone have told me they have just written it and asked me to check.

I wonder if they have done it differently?

PS I have never used Rover service myself, so I don't know how the client review works.

commented answer Does Anyone Else Give Clients Thank-You Notes?

Hi Rachel, you can generate the codes from free web sites, then I google for the Rover logo (which I am not supposed to do, but hey I am promoting their business too).. then I use a free program called Paint.net and put everything together. Once I got the template set up, I just add the dog pics.

asked a question How do some Sitters have 2 names on their profile?

Do they need to do BG check for both? I want to add my Daughters name to the profile as she is helping me with a lot of the tasks I feel she deserve to be a partner in my business.

Thanks

answered a question What does this mean when Rover Customer Support contacts you through message?

I had that happen to me twice before, it was most confusing even though they identified themselves as Rover CS initially, but the messages still came under the client's name, and at the same time the client might actually be typing, so I was never sure who was typing the messages. Rover should just use an CS account instead.

asked a question Can I get some feedback on my profile?

Hello there,

I have been on Rover for over half a year now, I'd say considering I only do boarding and I only accept one dog at a time, I have been doing pretty well. I have been constantly updating my profile as I gained experience over the past months.

I'd appreciate if folks can have a look at my profile and give me any feedback.

Let me know if you see anything that might turn you off if you are looking for a boarding service. Do I need more / fewer pictures? Is there any vital information that is missing? Are you left with a good impression?

Thank you!

Felix

asked a question Is it okay to give my actual phone number to the client?

Because they will be at a vacation destination with little to no internet access (for the Rover App), but have access to phone and sms.

marked best answer Is there a way to mark the Current Stay finished?

The owner have already picked up their dog that is scheduled to finish today. But since I am set my profile to allow 1 dog at a time, I am not showing as available even though my calendar says otherwise. Is there a way I can mark the current stay finished, so I can accept again?

Thanks

answered a question Why is Easter not considered a Holiday through Rover?

I wish Rover would just let the owners set their own holidays. Then the client would just see the rate when they request and decide to go ahead or not.

At the moment, the holiday system does not work in Canada at all, so I have to modify the rate AFTER the clients already requested manually.

answered a question How to best educate my client, on how to take care of their dog?

Thanks. I ended up putting my "recommendations" on a sheet of paper and hand it to them when they came to pick up the dog, i also demonstrated some of the tasks while they were here.

I am hoping that helped.

asked a question How to best educate my client, on how to take care of their dog?

I ran into a client who have little to no knowledge on how to take care of their dog. When I got the dog, the nails were twice as long as they should be. One of his paws were infected, and hes got crust all over his eyes, and I mean ALL OVER, like a circle. I tried to clean as much as I could, however, this does not seem like something that do regularly. This dog also has 0 training, jumps on everyone, doesn't know any commands, pulls the leash like crazy. This dogs here for 10 days, so I did everything I could to train, at least he knows sit now. But training and cleaning are life long commitment, which I am sure this dog is not getting (enough of).

How do you think is the best approach I can to help them out? When they come pick up the dog, what/how should I tell them? Any suggestion? I don't want to say nothing, but I also don't want to upset them to the point they give me a bad review, you know.

Thanks
