Kaity did a great job as our housesitter and pet sitter. She sent frequent pictures of our animals and played with our dog. Our shy cat even came out of hiding for her! She watered all of my flowers outside, collected mail and packages, and left the house in great shape. We will definitely book her again in the future.

Besides excellent care for our old gal, Blue, a HUGE plus is that Kim left the house looking like I had just stepped out to grocery shop and came back an hour later. The only " footprint" she left was a happy pup! Thank you, Kim!!

Kristi is wonderful! The moment she came to meet my two dogs, I knew she was a true animal lover. My dogs can be a bit overwhelming at first but her calmness was very evident. Her communication was excellent with several updates and pictures. I enjoyed my short trip so much more knowing my dogs were being taken care of so well. My home was so clean and my pups were happy when I got home. I will definitely use Kristi again!

Katie dog sat for my 2 dogs for 2 nights in our home. She made sure my dog with a heart condition took her meds 4 times per day and took them for walks. She made sure they were fed and sent me messages on questions or comments she had. Our home was left in tact the way we left it. Thank you Katie for sitting with our dogs!

Madison provided exceptional care for my pets and home. I am always anxious about leaving my pets with someone else, but Madison was extremely attentive and responsive. She consistently sent updates and photos, which helped ease my mind. I have tried pet resorts and boarding facilities in the past, but having a sitter in my home is always my preference. Madison not only took great care of my pets, but she also ensured my house was in excellent condition. She even went above and beyond by running my robot vacuum and washing the bedding. I am grateful for her thoughtfulness. I am already planning to use her services again next month and will definitely recommend her to my friends and neighbors.

About: I grew up with cats and dogs. I was adopted by my first orange tabby in graduate school. Ever since I have committed myself to the comfort and care of fur babies in my own home. And, now, I would like to care for other people's fur babies. I can do the basics of food and water and clean after them. I can take dogs on walks. My schedule is flexible. I can pet sit from 5 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. I can work my schedule around your needs. I am here to support pet parents by taking the best care of their babies. I am aware that flexibility in times and days are critical. I can come to your home so you dog or cat can be cared for in their environment. I do not want your dog or cat to be stressed out. I have 4 cats of my own. I minimize their stress by keeping their environment consistent. I provide them with all the love I promised them when I adopted them.

About: I have enjoyed and cared for dogs all my life and spent many years participating in Agility training and trials with my Blue Heeler/GS Pointer. I have raised puppies and tended to them throughout their long lives. I am a sucker for a white-faced senior dog! I met my husband over 30 years ago when he was a veterinarian and I was a veterinary technician. If your pet needs medication I am happy administer it for you. I am retired and I have many free days and nights for pet sitting and dog walking. I am flexible and happy to accommodate your schedule. Your dog is welcome in our home and on our furniture, and will be treated as one of our own. I have solid fencing on 3 sides of my backyard, with a metal fence on one side. (4 feet high with 3 3/4 inches between the vertical rails.) I will supervise your dog in the yard or take them outside on a long lead, as needed. I appreciate clear instructions on how you would like your pet cared for, and I will follow them respectfully. Does your dog have a favorite toy? Are there specific training guides you would like reinforced? Do they prefer to play alone or with other dogs? Just let me know what they need and I will be happy to accommodate them whether at your home or mine.

About: I have done dog bathing/grooming for five years, then moved into human medicine. But my passion for animals followed me, and I have been house/dog/cat sitting for the healthcare providers I work with and fellow medical assistant for just over two years. I have experience with more high maintenance dogs/cats including those with health issues, behavioral issues, or mobility issues. Whether it's a chihuahua or a great dane, I respect an animal's boundaries and that has carried me well through life caring for them. I'm currently working weekdays as a medical assistant from 8am to 4:30pm M-F with the availability to leave during my lunch break to provide potty breaks to your fur babies. My clinic is closed weekends so I will be available all weekend. I treat any animal like they're family, and will also adhere to their daily routines. I find that it helps decrease any possible anxieties and stress for them by sticking to their normal daily routines as much as possible. If they want to cuddle on the couch or in bed, that is completely okay with me, I'll take all the snuggles I can get!

FAQs for House Sitting - Claytonia

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 954 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Claytonia. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Claytonia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Claytonia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Claytonia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Claytonia. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
