“Zoe was absolutely incredible. She met with us beforehand to make sure everyone was at ease with the arrangement. She spent plenty of time with our cats at each visit and took plenty of pictures to make sure they got some love and attention. On top of all that, she seemed like a genuine and caring person. We will be happy to use her again in the future and you should too!”

“If you want someone that is reliable and loves animals, Mary is your person! We have been using Mary for 3 years now and trust her with our 3 kitties. She goes above and beyond!”

“Natalee is such a sweet and caring person who genuinely loves the animals in her care. She took the time to come meet us and our cat before the visits started which made us so comfortable. We were gone for an extended period of time and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. We greatly appreciated all of the photos, updates, notes, time, care, attention and love she gave our fur baby. Will absolutely use her again in the future.”

“Joe was amazing! Very attentive to both our pups! We had a last minute change to our booking and Joe was super accommodating. Would definitely recommend and book again!”

“OMG Meaghan is amazing!!! I hate being apart from my fur baby, but had to return home to Tennessee for a family emergency. Jordi’s original sitter was unable to drop in, so I searched through the Rover. First time using the app and I love it. I was able to find and meet Meaghan in a super short timeframe. She was so extremely accommodating and kind. She would send pics of Jordi with funny little quips of all the things he did during her visits. It really warmed my heart and helped me get through this trying week. Definitely going to book with Meaghan again!!! Thanks so much for caring for my fur baby!!!❤️❤️❤️”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since was was 12 years old. I’ve adopted two dogs, one from a rescue and the other from Indianapolis Animal Care Services. (Both have crossed the rainbow bridge.) I volunteered with Every Dog Counts Rescue for 5 years, volunteered with The Humane Society of Hamilton County and Indianapolis Animal Care Services. I also worked at 4 Paws Lodge in Fishers for approximately a year. I also dogsit for friends and family members every so often. I work full time Monday - Friday for a law firm in downtown Indy (I’m remote on Thursdays.) (I leave for work around 7am and don’t get home until 5:15pm). I’m in culinary school as well and have class this semester on Mondays/Tuesdays 5:30-10:20 (through October 13th). Other than working and school, I’m very much a homebody. Despite having a busy schedule, spending time with my furry friends is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve cared for multiple dogs within numerous homes, many times. I just make sure everyone gets as much love and affection as often as they want!
About: Hello, my name is Hailey! I currently work full-time through the week (Sun-Thurs 10-6) and am looking to make extra cash doing what I love - spending time with dogs! I previously have worked at a dog boarding center in Whitestown, Indiana, making me suitable to take care of your pet, whether it be feeding, exercising, or even medicating them for you while you’re away at work, traveling, whatever the case may be! While I have experience with all kinds of animals, currently I have two large breed dogs, an Australian Shepherd mix who is 6 years old and an Alaskan Malamute who is 7 years old! Both are dog and people friendly, so your dog can have a playmate, or we can arrange your pet to have space to him/herself if necessary! As I have worked for a business that is used to various pets having various needs, I will do my best to accommodate you in any way necessary! I also am used to working with cats (as the dog boarding also has a cat portion as well) so I am more than happy to help your feline friends, too! Hope to see you soon! I have open availability outside of Sun-Thurs 10-6. I work hard to make sure that I am transparent about the time I have to spend with your pets! I have a lot of experience watching other people’s pets, as well as being a lifelong owner of dogs. I love all breeds and ages!
“Braydon is highly reliable, caring to senior pet care needs and is knowledgeable in administering medications to our senior Maltipoo. He is a great communicator and has an affinity for animals.”

About: Hi, I’m Mea! Dogs have always been my favorite kind of company, and I know how important it is to leave your pup with someone you genuinely trust. I treat every dog like they’re my own. Whether your dog is energetic and adventure loving or more of a couch and cuddle type, I adjust my care to fit their personality and routine. From walks and playtime to overnight stays and lots of attention, my goal is to make your pup feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have experience with dogs of different ages, sizes, and temperaments, and I’m happy to accommodate specific routines or needs. I’ll also make sure you get updates and photos so you can relax knowing your dog is in good hands. I’d love to meet you and your pup! I work a steady 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM job, which allows me plenty of time for dog sitting before and after work. In the mornings, I can provide walks, playtime, and ensure your dog is fed and comfortable before I leave. After work, I have the flexibility to take them on a walk, give them attention, and stick to their evening routine, whether that includes dinner, playtime, or just some extra affection. For overnight stays, I’ll make sure your dog feels safe and secure in my care, keeping up with their schedule and providing plenty of attention before and after my workday. On weekends, I have even more availability for longer walks, play sessions, and extra time to ensure they’re happy and comfortable. No matter the schedule, I’ll always make sure your dog gets the love, care, and routine they need! I would care for your dog with the same level of attention and love, ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and safe while you’re away. Whether it’s following their routine, keeping up with their energy levels, or just giving them the affection they’re used to, I’ll treat them like one of my own!
About: My wife and I have been taking care of animals (dogs, cats, birds, lizards, guinea pigs and bunnies) since we were very young. As we get closer to retirement, we would like to spend more time doing what we love and that's caring for animals. We have well over 40 years of experience caring for animals and feel like I should have been a veterinarian. My son started a pet sitting business when he was in 7th grade and has built a strong base over the last 6 years. I thought it might be great to build it with him and sign up for Rover to assist additional people in our community. Your pet will receive all day attention as I am working from home and am here to take routine breaks for potty, walks, attention and play time. While our yard is not fenced, it is large and wooded and I spend a lot of time outside with our dog and the dogs in our care. We do go for long walks at Potters Bridge nearby along the river and in the woods and I take lots of time every day to give our guests the attention they need. Need products for your pet? Go to OptimalPetProductsDOTcom and check it out With my wife working at home & me being home by noon most days, we are able to be home w/ dogs all day so they do not have to be crated, kenneled and receive a lot of attention throughout the day. We do not have a fenced yard but do have a substantial dog run that we hook up to allow dogs to have a lot of exercise. Most of their exercise would be one on one with walks and play. We do have crates, but we typically do NOT crate our guests unless we are told to do so by an owner. Some owners prefer dogs crated at night, but we do not do that unless that is part of the owner's instructions. We do read the instructions for daily care closely on the Rover app to ensure that your dogs are up at the right time, fed correctly and receive medications or supplements as required. We take your instructions to heart and very seriously as this is your family member who you care for on a regular basis and we don't want to upset their schedule when they return home with you after their busy and playful stay here.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clare
Our dogs are older and extremely skeptical of strangers. Claire's approach was spot on and decreased their anxiety quickly. She is no longer a stranger, but a new BFF! Additionally, her communication and timeliness has been greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to a long relationship as our go to sitter for drop-ins and extended stays.

Thos was my first time using a dog sitter and Rover. I was nervous. Claire was great a reassuring me, assisting with using Rover to adjust my original request, and sending me pictures to show how she was doing. She reached out regarding issues and worked to get Cinnamon to adjust to her. I appreciated her greatly! Would definitely use River and Claire again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
