“Jared has taken care of my 3 cats and home twice now and handled some mishaps with grace. He is communicative when questions arise and leaves the guest cottage in stellar condition!”
“Edgardo is so nice, pleasant and communicative. He did a great job watching our two cats while we were away. Our one cat, who is notoriously fussy about cat sitters and often just hides under the bed, even came out for him! Would definitely recommend and hire him again.”
“Sofia and her husband Arsen did a wonderful job looking after my 5 cats. One of them is a very high maintenance rescued Himalayan. His coat looked better than it did when I left and his eyes were well cleaned. The other four were happy and well fed.”
“We went out of town last minute and Joseph very kindly agreed to that’s it for us for the first time. He was very quick to respond, a good communicator, and very reliable. He spent some great quality time with our cats and took extra care giving them some love. Definitely will book again. Thank you so much Joseph!”
“Alina was amazing with my cat Izzy. Izzy doesn't come out for everyone but came out for Alina each time. Alina's reports were sothorough and made me feel like my cat was being so well cared for.”
“Simon was very competent, reliable and devoted to the care of our cat, Opie. He stayed in our house for a week caring for our cat. Opie seemed happy and well cared for on our return. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Simon.”
“Emily was a great help to us when we were out of town. We experienced some technical issues with our automatic litter unit, and she communicated with us effectively to ensure the cats were taken care of and that we understood what was happening at home. She made friends with our cats, and I will book her in the future.”
About: I had a dog in my family for around 10 years. He was really the best. It was so fun to watch him grow up and take care of him through it all. I absolutely adore animals and love to give them attention, play with them and learn with them. I work full time but have different hours and sometimes will be available in the mornings, sometimes the middle of the day, and sometimes weekends! I will always have time for animals. I provide a safe and comforting environment for dogs and humans alike. I am very considerate and observant of everything around me so I will always make sure everyone is safe and having a great time with everything they need. I am very respectful of people’s space and always make sure to leave things the way I found them.
“Hannah did an AMAZING job cat and apartment sitting for me! She sent me pictures and stories of my cat daily which made me feel so much better about leaving him with somebody 🫶 When I came home, I saw that she had changed the sheets and tidied the apartment, going the extra mile. I cannot express how much that was appreciated after getting off a LONG series of flights. 10/10 recommend, her partner who I met was also very nice. Thank you so much Hannah! 🐱”
“We were very pleased with Rose's care for Nina. She was diligent in providing information and pics on Nina. We will definitely use her services again and will recommend to others. Thank you.”

“Shelby took great care of our kitten while we were away. She’s so sweet and you can really tell how much she loves pets. We didn’t worry about our baby the whole time because we knew she was in good hands.”

About: I absolutely love taking care of and being around animals. I am kind, reliable and very loving, with years of experience with both cats & dogs. I currently work part-time very close to my home and have reliable transportation. This means I typically have plenty of time to cater to your pets daily needs. Some days I would be able to be with them all day, whereas other days I can do morning, nights, or middle-of-the-day check-ins. I typically do not care for client's pets in my own home because of my two cats. I am happy to travel to any client home to take care of their pet however that may be needed: play, walks, parks, etc.
About: I have always had a special connection with dogs. I grew up with dogs and treated them like part of the family. I have been primarily working as a pet nanny for 5 years for someone who traveled to Europe on a monthly basis. They are staying in Europe indefinitely so I am looking to add some new clients. I can offer your dogs fun playtime and a sense of stability by caring for them in their own environment. I am also available for walks and drop in visits. I send pictures and updates daily. Your best friend will be spoiled and pampered with me. I have a very flexible schedule with plenty of availability as this is my main job. I can also do long term sitting up to 6 weeks if necessary. I am responsible and professional and respectful in your home. Besides caring for your pets, I am happy to pick up mail and water plants.
“Can’t thank Andrea enough for her help! I had her do some house sitting while I was away, so that my cat would have another person around, and from the start, she was wonderful with her communication, positivity, and also asking all of the right questions. Immediately gave me confidence that my house and cat were in good hands. Would 10/10 recommend her! Thank you for being so wonderful Andrea!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
