About: What sesame part is how much care attention I give to every pet I look after. I treat every animal like they’re my own and take the time to learn their individual routines personalities and needs. I’m dependable communicative and will always keep you updated while you’re away. My goal is to not only make sure your pet is safe and cared for but to also make sure they feel comfortable love and happy while you’re gone. I’m currently a musical theater major and because of the structure of my classes I have a good amount of downtime throughout the day. This gives me plenty of flexibility to stop by and take care of some pet pets whether that means we’re going for a walk feeding them playing with them or simply giving them some extra love attention. I enjoy spending my free time with animals so pet care if it’s naturally into my daily routine I’m able to work around each pet schedule and make sure they get the care attention they need while their owners are away. I take the safety and comfort of every pet very seriously whether I’m caring for a pet in my home or in the client’s home I make sure they are in a clean safe and comfortable environment. I will follow their normal routines for feeding walks playtime, and any other care instructions provided by their owner. I also take the time to learn each pets personality needs and boundaries so they feel comfortable and cared for when caring for a pet in a client‘s home I will treat their home with the same respect I would my own and make sure that everything is left clean and secure. I also believe communication is extremely important so I’ll keep owners updated with messages and photos throughout their pet day. My goal is for both a pet and the owner to feel safe, comfortable and confident while they are apart.
About: I’ve taken care of all different types of dogs in my time. With 3 large breed dogs of my own, I am comfortable training, playing with, walking, and medicating all shapes and sizes. I have first hand experiences with different species, including Reptiles, Birds, cats, and rodents. At my own home I have 2 cats and a dog on daily prescriptions so I am familiar with administering different types of treatment, including insulin, and always strive to keep it as comfortable as possible. I am currently working full time at Southeast Missouri State University as staff, but that won’t stop me from providing the top care for your pets. I can stop before 8am, again at lunch, back at dinner and even a later evening visit if I’m not staying full time. Petcare is already apart of my daily routine. Since I have so many of my own animals I do not accept boarding animals at my own home, for the safety of all pets involved. I strive to keep pets on as close to their regular schedule as possible. I can stay overnight, pop in for walks or day visits, whatever and whenever you need me I will be there!
About: I’m Amy - a huge animal lover and would be happy to care for your pet(s) as well as I care for my own! I understand how hard it is to leave your pets while traveling or vacationing, or even during the workday, which is why I started on Rover. I have a very open availability and am flexible for walks, drop-in visits, and house-sitting. I worked in a veterinary clinic for 2 years where I learned a lot about health and wellness of cats and dogs. I also have experience administering medication, handling special needs/health issues, and basic training. I promise to provide kind, loving, patient care for your pet, and open communication! I currently have a very open/flexible schedule. Please reach out about any times/dates you may need care for your pets and I hope I can help fit your needs! Aaron (my husband) and I have one dog and two cats that we’ve had for over 9 years. We love being outside, being active and taking our dog, Bella, for walks. I am very detail oriented and promise to always be 100% respectful of your home, property, and pets.
About: With my experience from working in a vet I’ve learned how to administer medications, handle dogs that may be difficult to handle, trimming nails, expressing anal glands, care for senior dogs, and the list goes on! I currently have one client who I’ve been working for now, she has 6 dogs, 5 goats and chickens! I love dogs of all ages and sizes and love giving a good belly rub! I currently work part time at Charles Hutson horticulture greenhouse. I will have school starting in fall, but will have an open schedule throughout the day! If I am house sitting I go to the clients home and stay with the pets throughout the day and make sure to let dogs out when needed, give medications when they are needed, and I also stay over night at the house if I am watching them for multiple days.
“Melinda was wonderful. She stayed at our house and took great care of our dogs and cats. She is a great communicator and sent videos and pictures throughout her stay. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for reliable and responsible per and house sitting.”

About: Hi! I grew up on a farm out in the Millersville area with lots of different types of animals. That being said, I’ve never lived a day of my life without a cat or a dog ☺️ While I have no formal animal training, I love my pets (and yours!) as family. I work full-time as a barista and shift supervisor for the hotel and Starbucks in the Casino! I also serve part-time at 36 Bar and Restaurant. While this takes up more than 8 hours of my day at times, I am willing to meet your babies before or after my work day. I live in a small duplex with two cats and my small dog (he’s a beagle-basset mix). While I have no fenced in backyard, I would happily take your dogs on a leashed walk through the neighborhood or nearby park. As for at your home, any rules you might have will be followed! I can crate a dog if requested and have watched my MIL’s two dogs for many years, so I’ve got experience in that department.
About: I've had cats and dogs most of my life. I've cared for all ages and sometimes even special needs animals. Communication with pet parents is a must. I have my kitten on a timed eating schedule with wet food to help her get all the nutrients she needs. She also has toys for stimulation, and I play with her daily to increase her stamina and decrease pet depression. For cats, I keep them indoors and make sure they have enough stimulation in their environment. For dogs, it would depend on the weather, the backyard setup, and the specific care that each different individual animal may need.

“Reagan did an awesome job with Delilah! Lots of pics of the pup and plenty of attention to detail. She’s professional, polite and was even accommodating to some last minute changes on my end. She took good care of Del and the house, and made sure to clean up after herself before she left. Will definitely use her again, and highly recommend her!”

About: I love animals, I have owned a pet my whole life and have enjoyed every bit of it. I have a heart made for animals and always want to give animals the best of love. I also love meeting new animals and would love to help you with your pets needs, playing with my dog is actually one of my favorite hobbies including running and walking with them. I also can bath or/and clip nails along with making sure they are fed the proper amount of food at the proper time of day. I’m also very organized when it comes to how often and how much of a distance my own dog needs to walk. I want to ensure that animals and their owners can trust me at all times. I’m currently attending college and can be very flexible throughout the week because 5 days out of the week I have a free afternoon! I am able to work around your schedule! I treat peoples pets like they are my own. I would be meeting at your home and would love for the pet to remain to feel so loved, safe, and comfortable.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cape Girardeau walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cape Girardeau maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cape Girardeau choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
