About: I have taken care of dogs, cats, lizards, and bunnies since my early teens. Since I was young my family members and friends have always trusted me with their pets!:) I have also had experience with reactive pets and I am able to adapt and pay attention to the boundaries that your furry friend may place! I love furry friends that roam the earth. I have always watched family members and friends animals through out the years. Recently I heard that there has been a shortage of genuine care takers for pets and that breaks my heart. I too have been tasked in the past to trust someone to watch my beloved fur baby while on a trip, and the last thing you want to do is worry about them and if they are being treated properly or not. I like to consider myself an active person so going for long walks fits into my lifestyle quite nice but I also love just cuddling up with a blanket and a pet for a nice movie night in. I have a good routine with my animals at home to spend some time together in the morning which is usually an hour before work, and then to take them for an 1-2 hour walk after work! If need be i am also happy to stop in during my lunch breaks to check on pets:). I usually have a steady work schedule of days, but every now and then I have a night shift which usually animals are happy about because it means it’s a pretty active day before the shift starts! I currently only have my cat with my now, but I sometimes during the year I will have my partners dog living with me as well! I don’t have a fenced im yard however I do have a long leash outside to keep them on while we spend the evenings soaking in the summer sun if we aren’t already on a walk!

About: Hi, I’m Lauren, a dependable and experienced pet caregiver with a lifelong love for animals. I’ve had pets my entire life and currently care for both cats and a dog, so I understand just how important it is to find someone you can trust with your furry family members. I bring years of hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes, energy levels, and temperaments including rescues, seniors, and anxious pups. I offer reliable, personalized care tailored to your pet’s unique needs, whether that’s an energetic walk, a calm check-in, or anything in between. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away and to give you total peace of mind. As a casual healthcare worker, my schedule is dynamic, but I’m flexible and can often accommodate pet care days, evenings, and weekends with proper notice given I provide a calm, pet-friendly home where animals are treated like family. I offer a safe, loving environment with plenty of attention, playtime, and comfort.

About: I'm incredibly attentive and will take good care to make sure your pet's needs are met. I'm very good at reading animals and most pets warm up to me very quickly. I'm also a great communicator and will keep you updated so you know your pet is in good hands :) My background: I've been an obsessive animal lover for as long as I can remember. I grew up walking our family dog and taking care of our cat as well as volunteering at my local SPCA, caring for the cats and dogs there. I have also volunteered at local wildlife rehabs for many years now, and professionally, I work as a wildlife biologist. Having just moved to Nelson from Saskatchewan, I am still on the hunt for work in my field. As such, I have a lot of free time on my hands and am looking forward to caring for pets in the meantime. I am friendly and reliable and will always keep you updated on how your pet is doing. I am happy to take on walking dogs of all sizes. I am attentive and highly capable of following individual pet dietary, social, and fitness needs.

“This was our first time hiring Isabel and we are very pleased with her care. She clearly loves animals, Billy warmed up to her immediately. She is always on time and spends time playing and cuddling with Billy. We will definitely hire her in the future and highly recommended her.”

About: I have been a dog mom all my life. I have an Egyptian rescue dog, Hummus. She is 10 and an absolute sweetheart. We do lots of hikes, beach visits, and rail trail walks both on and off leash. I always have lots of dog toys and treats on hand, extra leashes, etc. I am currently on mat leave so have lots of extra time at the moment. I have experience with all sorts of breeds. Growing up, we had Labs, Shepherds, and Pomeranians, and now I have a rescue pup. I am comfortable working with dogs with anxiety, so am careful to create a positive environment for them where they feel safe and loved :) Since I have a dog of my own, dog walks and getting her energy out and making sure she gets lots of activity - both physical and mental - is a part of our daily life. We are happy to do indoor playtime or walks or hikes outside. I cater my day to your pet’s needs depending on their energy levels and temperament.

“Madelyn was an absolutely fantastic pet sitter!! She was incredibly responsive, responsible, and so caring for our cats. Madelyn was amazingly patient and kind to our cats. We will definitely book Madelyn again and would absolutely recommend Madelyn for pet sitting and house sitting.”

About: Hi! My name is Rosa. I have lived with and cared for many dogs and cats, and done regular dog walking for many years. I have an intuitive relationship with animals - always creating a safe and nurturing environment for them. I look after any pet as if its my own - showing respect along with healthy boundaries. I am happy to take dogs on walks wherever you prefer and have a car so can head out to various locations outside of Nelson, as needed. Communication and trust are important to me, so I will happily call and provide updates, photos, and videos of your precious dogs and cats while pet sitting! I am very happy to adapt to whatever situation and your needs, so please get in touch if you would like to discuss anything further or if you have any questions at all! I'm currently working part-time / self-employed, so I will have ample time to care for your precious furry friends and be on a fairly flexible schedule for walks and feeding. Also looking for opportunities for long-term pet and house sitting from September onwards. In your home, I will carefully adhere to whatever safety precautions you have in place to protect your precious dogs and cats - be it keeping gates, doors or windows shut and crating when necessary. I am very attentive! I can send regular photo or video updates - just let me know what you need! I can only pet sit at your home, although doggy day-care is available in our large garden - which is fenced, with ample shade under a big magnolia tree, and grassy area to play on, we have a trampoline which the doggos love to nap under too!

“Jessica took great care of my old cat. I had to make a emergency trip out of town. She was very flexible about pick up and drop off which made it so there was one less thing I had to worry about. I knew my old boy was in good hands”

About: I've worked with dogs of all temperaments. Shy or nervous rescue dogs are no problem! I can handle any dog, big or small, high energy, timid, low energy, large breeds, or large personalities. I live in walking distance of the dog park, as well as a wooded trail system for your pup’s enjoyment. I never stop learning about dogs so you can rest assured knowing you have one of the best looking after your pets. I am layed off of my full time career for the winter so my time is your pets time. I am available most days and overnight with very few exceptions. Whether caring for pets in my home or theirs, I prioritize their comfort, routine, and well being. In my home I create a safe and welcoming environment (I have plenty of toys and very soft blankets for them). I have just as much energy as your pup and give them plenty of play time, exercise, and affection. I follow any special instructions strictly, Including feeding schedules, medications, walking routines, and anything else they may need from me. When staying in the pets home, I treat it with the utmost respect, keeping it tidy, secure, and as it was. I make sure pets feel at ease in their familiar surroundings, providing companionship, regular updates, and lots of love. My goal is to give both pets and their owners complete peace of mind so they can enjoy their vacation, or go about their daily life.

“Everything went very smoothly with having Danielle cat sit! Nova was very content when we got home and she kept us updated while we were away. We'd be happy to have Danielle take care of Nova again, thanks Danielle!”

About: I am an art therapist, currently working as a support worker for KSCL. I also facilitate art therapy sessions about twice a month for the Kootenay Brain Injury Association. I have many years experience caring for animals, both cats and dogs. I grew up with both and currently have a cat here in Nelson. I am active and love getting out for walks and hiking in the mountains. I am capable of all dog care related duties such as bathing/grooming and some training. I am comfortable with dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. As a dog walker I’d like to lend a helping hand and give your animals the care, attention and activity they need while you are away. I am kind, hard working, trustworthy and professional. I am also flexible with my hours. I look forward to walking your dogs! My schedule has me working 2 days a week with 1 overnight shift on Mondays. The art therapy happens approximately twice a month and are 2 hour sessions. I have plenty of flexibility throughout my week to help care for your pets. I ensure all things in a home that are unsafe for animals are out of reach. I always make sure there is fresh drinking water and the house is a reasonable temperature. In the summers providing fans and ice water etc. I make sure they have toys and their own bed for a safe comfy place to sleep. Crating if needed. Lots of cuddles and pets.

About: I have always cherished a profound and sacred connection with animals throughout my entire life. I had a very close relationship with my three pit bull labs growing up. Wherever I go, I find myself forming deep bonds with the animals around me, even though it's been a while since I've had a pet of my own. You might recognize me as that person at the dog park, striking up conversations with every pup that passes by. While I've always yearned to have an animal companion of my own, I believe it's crucial to provide them with the perfect environment for a fulfilling life. Unfortunately, my current rental doesn't permit pets. This is where you and your beloved pet come into the picture. It would be an absolute honor for me to spend time with your furry friend, embarking on adventurous journeys together. As an avid mushroom hunter and hiker for most of the year, I guarantee that our forest explorations will be nothing short of extraordinary. Plus, being relatively new to Nelson, I am eager to discover new sights and experiences the Koots has to offer. Caring for animals is second nature to me, and I have a wealth of experience in pet-sitting with positive reviews from their owners (which I'd be happy to share with you). Since relocating here, I've been entrusted with the care of my friends' pets during house sits, and I regularly tend to the animals at my partner's home. With my current work schedule allowing for flexibility, I have ample availability, even for last-minute requests for walks or home visits. Your pet's well-being and happiness are of utmost importance to me, and I'm eager to be their trusted companion. I hope to also build my reputation on Rover with your help. I currently work two days a week, which provides me with a significant amount of flexibility. This means I have ample availability for pet sitting, including last-minute requests for walks or home visits. I understand the importance of being reliable and accommodating, and I'm committed to ensuring that your cat receives the attention and care they deserve, even on short notice. Whether in the comfort of your own home, I prioritize your little furry family’s well-being. I promise to maintain routines, administer medications if needed, and provide companionship following your guidelines, and ensure their safety. I will communicate very well and clear so you know what is going on and how good of a time your pet is having!

I grew up with golden retrievers and most recently rescued a 2 year old lab/husky mix of my own named Bee. She’s timid at first but is great with dogs. She loves to hang out on the couch at home. Looking forward to boarding/walking your pet and introducing Bee to new friends! Schedule fluctuates based on work schedule. Please see calendar for availability. Boarding and doggy day care depend on schedule. Can’t consistently commit to the same weekday Lots of hang out time. Backyard fence is only partially closed off.
