Madison & Joshua have watched our pets many times and we trust them completely with our "babies" and our home. The relief of never having to worry about anything while in their care is invaluable. They also go above and beyond making sure our pets have a fun time! Thanks again!

I knew my babies were well taken care of with Kayla. Her communication and photos gave me great peace of mind. And leaving my home tidied up, clean sheets on the bed and towels washed was a bonus! Thank you, Kayla.

About: I have been a pet sitter for up to five dogs at a time, and the best compliment I've ever gotten is those dogs were more relaxed than when the family left! I am okay working with pets who have medical/special needs. Currently, this is my only job, though I do take online classes in the evening. This means I can give your pets the time they deserve! Your fur baby's health, safety, and comfort is my top priority! I'll follow your directions to the letter to make sure they're okay and comfortable-medication, time in and out, sleeping arrangements, and everything else!

Lyndsay was great! She sent me pics of my pups and kept me informed while I was away. My German Shepherd pup is large and full of energy and she handled it like it was no big deal! Left my house in great shape! Will definitely book again.

About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 7 years old! We have a German Shepard and mini poodle. I really enjoy dog sitting and getting to know and love your pet! I’m currently working full time, in the city of New Albany. I have a pretty flexible job, so I am able to leave when needed! My home is next door to my job, so I am able to check on dogs who are in my home at anytime. I am available any time on the weekends. I enjoy watching pets. I will be sure the pet does not mess up the home and will ensure that we will play together. If there is a fenced in yard, we will play there and go on walks.

About: I have been taking care of dogs and many different animals since I was a child! I had many pets ranging from birds, frogs, iguanas, hermit crabs, ferrets, cats, and dogs. I have always been an animal lover! I unfortunately do not get to have a pet of my own due to my husband being in the Air Force. Which means we move around a lot. This has been really hard for me considering the fact that my whole life I’ve been acclimated to caring for and loving pets. Being able to care for your pet while we are stationed here in the Memphis area would fulfill my dreams of being able to take care of animals. I’m currently a stay at home mom and disabled veteran. As long as my kids are at school (7 AM-2 PM) I am 100% available! Outside of those hours I could pet sit for you at my home! I can accommodate depending on your preferences for your fur baby and depending if they are potty trained. I have a 2800 sq ft home. And a huge back yard for your fur baby to play in.

Mikayla was very professional and able to watch the animals last minute. I’m not sure if the expectations were unclear, but she arrived late for the house sitting and then the only updates I received were a few blurry pictures for the weekend of my 2 dogs and cat. When I asked how they were doing she said they were doing good…as a pet sitter myself and the fact that I emphasized that I wanted updates, I hoped that she would have told me when my dog didn’t eat and updates on everyone. Fix that and I’d give her 5 stars!

About: Hi my name is Steve I'm a 58-year-old retired male who has had pets my whole life. I have been providing over-night pet/house sitting for 20 plus years with many repeat customers. I have provided stays from a "long week-end" to 7 weeks at time. I am trustworthy and dependable on each and every job. I believe its easier for pets to get more comfortable with a new person rather then a new environment. Pets also love their routines so following them is very important to me. Some of my included duties are mail collection, garbage collection, plant watering, and keeping your pets and home safe while your away. If this sounds interesting to you please contact me, references upon request. I'm retired, so I'm available for 24/7 pet care in your home, so your pets dont spend too much time alone. I will give constant attention as needed, to make sure they know they are special. I believe in keeping with your pet's routines, from waking up, playtime, feeding, and to bedtime. I also believe its easier for pet to get used to a new person instead of a new environment.

About: I've always been into nature, animals, insects and pets. My grandmother would always joke and say that I should be a Veterinarian when I grow up. Between playing with earth worms, petting any dog I see or spoiling my own pups, I love people and I love their animals and pets. For the past decade, having to care for other's pets never felt like a chore. It remains the foundation of my desire to join Rover. Even after being bitten by an unsuspecting, unpredictable pit bull, I will continue being a dog lover. I have been a pet caregiver since I was a teen. Now that I've discovered Rover, I can take this to the next level. I'm actually late to the Rover party! I currently have open availability as of August 2026. That could be changing to part-time availability soon. I will update my availability as needed. I am devoted to absolute safety and trust. I promise to treat you, your property and furry family members with the same love, attention and care that I would treat my own.

Mackenzie M. did an amazing job taking care of my dog, Princess Poppy! I felt completely comfortable leaving Poppy in her care because she was trustworthy, attentive, and treated her with so much love. I had no worries while Poppy was with her because I knew she was safe and well cared for. I truly appreciate the updates, care, and peace of mind Mackenzie provided. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Byhalia on Rover is $26.75 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 466 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Byhalia. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Byhalia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Byhalia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Byhalia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Byhalia. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
