Miss the feel of sand between your toes? Visit one of these local dog beaches and take your pup to a place where they can really have a blast – after all, Key West has a lot to offer.

Best Dog-Friendly Beach in Key West

  1. Higgs Beach Dog Park
  2. Key West Dog Beach

Higgs Beach Dog Park (100 Atlantic Blvd., Key West, FL 33040) is a wonderful place to take your water-loving dog for the day. Though it’s not huge, it packs a punch when it comes to beauty and beach access for fido. There are separate areas for small and large dogs, plus brand-new fencing, which means that your pups are even more secure while they wander around the park. Doggie bags and drinking water are available throughout the park, and there are plenty of shady areas for owners to take a seat while their four-legged friends play.

Most of the people (and dogs) who frequent this beach are super friendly and courteous – so be sure to pick up after you dog and do the same. Oh, and parking for Higgs Beach Dog Park is easy and free – what more could you ask for?

Beautiful little beach, first we got to see in 2018!

You’re also going to want to let fido play at Key West Dog Beach (1500 Vernon Ave., Key West, FL 33040). This park definitely runs on the small side, but there’s plenty of water for your dog to splash around in. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for sharp rocks – don’t want any paw injuries! You can often find tennis balls lying around, as well as doggie bags to ensure that you pick up after your pooch.

Just be sure to keep an eye on your dog since the whole place isn’t fenced, and make sure they respond well to your commands. Looking for a refreshment after? There are lots of favorite local watering holes in the area, though we can’t say for certain that all of them are dog-friendly.

Chloe has always loved herself a good dog park. She spent many a day in her youth terrorizing doggies big and small with her never ending enthusiasm. As Chloe approaches her 12th birthday, her current idea of rigorous exercise is a short stroll around the yard. But when I watch her legs twitching and running in she sleep, I know exactly what my sweet girl is dreaming about.❤This 2006 photo is from Chloe's first dog park visit. #keywestdogbeach #2006 #Chloeisturning12 . . . #frenchiesofinstagram #frenchbulldogsofinstagram #bulldogsofinstagram #bulliesofinstagram #dogsofinstagram #frenchielove #thefrenchiepost #french_bulldogs #frenchie #frenchbulldog

Worried about your dog getting enough exercise while you’re in Key West? Not to worry – hire a local dog walker who will be happy to show them around. Your dog will be excited you did!
