Wall-E the Lab mix was dropped off at the Maricopa County Animal Shelter in Phoenix, Arizona with garbage bags full of his belongings by his tearful family. The moment was captured by a shelter staff member and forgotten until Wall-E had been rejected time and again by potential adopters and was in need of a lifeline.
Devastated
Wall-E was so confused and uncomfortable in his kennel at the shelter, that volunteers and staff despaired of him ever finding a loving home. The dog was happy with volunteer play visits, but was vocal and nervous in his cage.
Zoomies and fun with a volunteer
Volunteer Jordan Bader noticed the photo and thought posting Wall-E’s sad face on Facebook might bring in just the kind of person Wall-E needed in his life— a sympathetic dog lover who could see past his shelter stress into the sweet and gentle soul inside.
Happily ever after
And it worked! Wall-E’s photo brought thousands of responses and shares, and a brand new forever home for Wall-E overnight. Lynn Lee just knew Wall-E would be a perfect fit for her family, and came to the shelter the very next day with her dog Marlee to do an introduction and make sure the dogs would click.
Wall-E is loving his new home, and his photos and videos are encouraging other folks to consider adopting a pet from the crowded shelter. From zero to hero! Congratulations Wall-E on your new family.
