Sweet Husky with Permanent Surprised Face Finds Forever Home After Viral Fame

For Dog People

It’s not easy being a little different sometimes, especially for a dog in need of a forever home. That’s why two years after a breeder dumped a female Siberian husky named Jubilee for having a “weird-looking” eyelid deformity, the shelter that took her in did something different to get her adopted.

Husky House, the New Jersey nonprofit that had been trying for almost two years to get Jubilee adopted, decided a new approach was necessary.  The shelter shared photos of Jubilee and her constant look of surprise, with a heartfelt message of what it’s like to be judged, laughed at, and feel that you are never going to be “enough.” Jubilee’s story swiftly went viral, and the perfectly “imperfect” dog with the eyelid condition found the forever home — and unconditional love — she has always deserved.

My name is Jubilee. I’m a 4 year old female husky who has been with Husky House for a long time. I came from a “breeder”…

Jubilee had been with Husky House since 2018 with zero interest, even being laughed at during adoption events. But everything changed with an adorable tongue-in-cheek social post on Jan. 14 that garnered 29,000 likes, 23,000 comments, and 47,000 shares! It helped bring 150 adoption applications.

About a Girl

“I wish I were beautiful, so someone would want me to be their dog.

“I like other dogs, but I don’t like cats. I love people, but I’m a little shy because people mostly laugh at the way I look.

“Doesn’t anyone want a funny looking husky? I wish I had a family of my own who could love me even though I’m not pretty.”

One person was upset and commented, “She is beautiful!!!! Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!!”

Husky House responded: “No need to be upset – she has no idea she’s funny looking and we didn’t let her read the comments ?”

Healthy as a Husky

Vet checkups proved Jubilee is very healthy despite her congenital eye issue. She is also a happy dog who is a bit shy and loves humans. She’s friendly (but not with cats) and very smart too.

Thank you to Dr. Doug Cotler of South Brunswick Animal Hospital for giving our girl, Jubilee, a physical exam and making sure she stays healthy!

Jubilee’s adorably silly expression is no fault of her own. She’s most likely a product of irresponsible breeding. And because her humans let her down, she got the short end of the stick. But now her future is bright.

Thank you to PET OASIS on Route 34 in Matawan for sprucing up our girl, Jubilee, who met her forever family this past Saturday. She looked so beautiful! It was just the makeover she needed! ❤️ #teamjubilee #husky #makeover #huskiesofinstagram #rescue #foreverhome

This “funny looking” dog is a real beauty inside and out. Just because Jubilee is different doesn’t make her any less worthy of love. Her new pet parents and husky siblings all agree!

Meet the New Family!

Last week one of our volunteers posted a little story about Jubilee’s search for her forever home. Previous adopters sent her a message, requesting to meet her. The next morning, Jubilee’s story has gone viral with over 45,000 shares! She went viral all over social media and Husky House received over 150 applications, and numerous email and phone calls requesting more information. Today Jubilee met the family who originally wanted her and joined their pack. They can honestly tell her that they loved her before she became famous, and requested anonymity so she can be a normal dog. That’s how we knew this was the perfect match. Happy Gotcha Day, Jubilee! After waiting for over two years, you finally found your forever home. #huskyhouse #huskyhousenj #adoptdontshop #rescuedogs #rescuedogsofinstagram #huskymix #huskymixofinstagram #backyardbreederssuck #jubilee

To the breeder who thought Jubilee was worthless…who’s laughing now?
