🔗 About the New Referral Link
Q: What’s changed with referrals on Rover?
A: Sitters now share a unique referral link instead of a promo code. When new clients sign up through this link, the discount is automatically applied to their first booking, no code needed.
Q: Why did Rover switch from promo codes to referral links with auto-applied discounts?
A: We made this change to help you get more bookings from your referrals. Promo codes added an extra step during the booking, which created friction and led to fewer bookings. With the discount now applied automatically through your link, new clients have a smoother experience, and that means you’re more likely to earn more bookings.
Q: Can I customize or rename my referral link?
A: Not at this time. We know a custom or simpler link would be helpful and are exploring ways to improve this.
👀 Profile Visibility & Client Experience
Q: Do people have to create an account to see my profile now?
A: By clicking your unique link they will be directly redirected to a preview of your profile. Full profiles are visible to anyone signed into Rover.
Q: Can I share my profile with returning or existing clients?
A: Yes! If someone is already on Rover and signed in, your link will take them directly to your profile.
Q: Why can’t clients see my reviews or photos?
A: New clients can now see your reviews before signing up, helping them get to know you better right away. Photos aren’t currently included in this view, but we’re exploring ways to add them in the future. Anyone signed into Rover can still see your full profile, including all reviews and photos.
🧾 Business Cards, QR Codes & Promo Materials
Q: How do I get business cards or Rover-branded materials?
A: We’re not currently selling merchandise or cards, but we’re working on relaunching marketing tools for sitters, including offline materials like cards and magnets.
Q: Can I download a QR code or print-ready file for my profile?
A: Your QR code directs pet owners to your profile. For print materials, we’re considering more downloadable assets in the future.
💬 Feedback & Preferences
Q: I prefer giving out a promo code—it felt more personal. Can we have both options?
A: We hear you. While links simplify the process for clients, your code is still available, and we’re exploring ways to offer more flexibility in the future.
Q: Why remove the old share button? I liked being able to share without the promo element.
A: We updated the share flow to streamline the experience for new clients. However, we recognize that more flexible sharing (without a discount) would be useful, and we’re reviewing that feedback.
Q: Can I personalize my sharing link?
A: Not for now, we understand this concern and are evaluating options for future improvements.
