Marc and Kristen Peralta of Vintage Pet Rescue in Rhode Island give their TLC to over 30 senior dogs, but the pick of the litter is definitely Marc’s heart dog, a 15-year-old pug named Shorty.
Marc and Shorty have been together for over a decade.
And when Marc travels for work, Shorty becomes inconsolable with separation anxiety.
First, they tried putting one of Marc’s worn t-shirts onto a pillow on the couch for Shorty to snuggle, but it just wasn’t enough.
Then there was Farc
Next, Kristen’s mom had the brainwave to buy a life-size mannequin from a Halloween store and dress it up as Marc.
The verdict? Critical success! Not only does Shorty love napping with ‘Fake Marc’ or ‘Farc’ for short, the other seniors also love to snuggle up in Farc’s lap or lie at Farc’s feet.
The dogs love Farc so much, that Marc jokes they don’t need him anymore, but of course, nothing’s better than the real thing.
Fake-Marc being a creeper
We’re so glad Shorty’s family found a unique solution to help him feel better when he needs it most.
Stay golden Shorty, we love your style.
