Here at Rover, we can’t get enough of dogs and pictures of dogs (next best thing, right?) In fact, millions of dog photos from stays and walks with Rover sitters and walkers come through our platform every year. To wrap up 2018, we put out a call for entries to a “photo of the year” contest from our community. Thousands of truly incredible entries poured in and we spent days combing through them. From old dogs to puppies, action shots to couch cuddles, each photo was bursting with dog love. Needless to say, it was hard to choose.
After narrowing down the entries, winners were selected based on the photo and the story behind it. And with that, we’re excited to announce the winners of three categories: nature/outdoor, cozy, and “awww.”
Best Nature/Outdoor Dog Photo

One of my first Rover pups at one of her favorite places. We spent a lot of time here during her last few months and this is where I’ll always remember her. Rest easy, Mahalo.
Best Cozy Moment Dog Photo

Lizzy is one of my regular drop-in clients, and I’ve been walking her almost every day since her parents adopted her! She was a shelter puppy when the 2018 California wildfires struck and was moved to the top of the kill list to make room for animals displaced by the fires. Luckily her parents came just in time, initially just to provide a foster home. But when the time came for her to find her forever home, they couldn’t bear the thought of anyone else getting to spend forever with her. Lizzy went from a crowded shelter to an Instagram-worthy high rise in the city overnight, and couldn’t be fitting in better! Truly a Cinderella story that is too cute not to share!

“Oliver loved finding sticks that were WAAAY to big for him.”
