Rescue dog: Alexandra Robins

I'm so excited to finally be able to announce something that I though would never happen! Or at least not so soon in my photography journey ? I'm so privileged to have placed 1st in the Kennel Club's Dog Photographer of the Year competition in the Rescue Dogs category 2016/17!! This year was also in fact the first year for the new category Rescue Dogs! This is my 3rd year entering the competition, in my first year I was thrilled to have received a Special Mention! The competition gets stronger every year so it's an honour to be amongst great pieces of work. This image was taken at Bath Cats and Dogs Home. Chloe came to the home after her owner died. She came in along with her friend Tess, also a greyhound and Diego, a Corgi cross. I have spent a lot of time visiting the home, especially this year where I've been helping the animal care team when I can. I'm also pleased to say that as part of my award I get £500 to donate to my chosen charity, of course I chose Bath Cats and Dogs home! They are such a wonderful team and I've loved working with them! Here are the rest of the wonderfull winners and Special Mentions – http://www.dogphotographeroftheyear.org.uk #KCdpoty #KClovesdogs #dogphotographeroftheyear #bathcatsanddogshome #petphotography #dogphotography #dogphotographer #petphotographer #dogsofinstgram #dogsofinsta #dogumented #dogs #dog #doglife #rescuedogs #canonphotography #canon #canon5dmarkii #puppiesofinstagram #ilovedogs #dogsarethebest  #cutedogs #instagood #instaoftheday #animalsofinstagram #petsofinstagram #pets

I love dogs because (12-17 year olds): Julian Gottfried

Here's something different from my usual nature photography. In this year's Dog Photographer of the Year competition – hosted by the International Kennel Club – I was awarded first place in the 12-17 category ('I Love Dogs Because…'). I'm extremely happy to have received this honor!
