Nestled along the Pacific Coast around 180 miles west of Seattle lies a hidden gem for anyone looking to skip town (with or without their dogs!). Adrift Hotel is a stylish, eco-friendly spot owned and staffed by total animal lovers. The hotel has a rotating cast of up to three dogs in the lobby at a time, but Wilbur is the one that’ll run up to you with a warm welcome as you’re checking in.
The spry pup, who is part American Staffordshire terrier, vizsla, Australian shepherd, boxer, Lab, and more, calls the Adrift his home.
Wilbur was the runt from a litter of five. When his owner (the PR Director at Adrift) first met him, she knew it was a done deal. Wilbur’s official role at Adrift is “social justice pawciffer,” a title voted on by his Instagram friends. His hashtag is #adrifthoteldog.
So what’s a day in the life of Wilbur like?
He typically helps the team with a daily walk around the property first thing in the morning to ensure everything is up to snuff. Then he has breakfast (the most important meal of the day) before spending the day playing with other guests’ dogs and various Adrift guests.
Wilbur mans the reception desk here, doing precisely what he does best—looking adorable.
Wilbur learns really quickly—here he is practicing his shake with a coworker.
The main lobby gets tons of natural light. Wilbur loves to bask in it as he watches the door.
Ready to spring into action!
On occasion, guests even take Wilbur out for a walk down to the beach, which is just a stone’s throw from the grounds. His favorite thing to do is jump in the dunes and roll around in the sand. Wilbur has a penchant for playing with beach creatures like crabs, which he’s currently trying to be better about.
Strolls on the boardwalk and along the beach are what this dog lives for. Sounds like a pretty good life to us!
He also loves making new friends.
We love him so much!
