So much changed in the last couple of years including, for many, spending more time at home with their pets. And while pet parents—new and seasoned—are beginning to leave their homes more, the bond with their pet is stronger than ever.

According to a recent study by Rover, 67% of pet parents welcomed a new dog into their family during the pandemic (with millennials leading the pack). This fact alone has the capacity to fundamentally shift priorities of pet parents. It could also alter how society will adapt in response.

With many returning to in-office work, those pet parents are increasingly seeking out dog-friendly companies to work for. 58% of pet parents said they changed jobs since March 2020 and nearly one-third (29%) said their dog was a factor in this decision.

Pet parents aren’t just looking for a place to keep an eye on their own dogs during the day—nearly half (46%) believe having dogs in the office improves workplace morale. Plus, 35% of employees with pets believe office dogs boost communication and improve working relationships between team members.

Many workplaces are adjusting their policies to meet this demand, including the Top 100 Best Dog-Friendly companies. If you’re looking for a job where you can bring your dog to work, here are a few highly-rated, dog-friendly businesses (that also happen to be hiring).

The Top 5 Dog-Friendly Companies Hiring

Kinship (NYC, SF, Portland): Kinship provides company-supported paid time off for both welcoming a new pet and in the case of a pet passing away. There is also an annual stipend for pet products of $750.

“Working at a dog-friendly (and pet-focused) company like Kinship feels like I am able to bring, literally, my full self to work. My dog Otis is one of the most important connections in my life so to be professionally supported around all things regarding my dog is pretty amazing.” – Lili (Software Engineer at Kinship)

athenahealth (Watertown, MA): Motivated by providing convenience for employees, athenahealth supports pet parents at the company by offering a stipend for pet care as well as pet health insurance.

Trupanion (Seattle, WA): Trupanion is pet friendly at its core. Employees with pets get access to perks like full coverage of pet health insurance and three days paid time off for bereavement if a pet passes away. This summer, Trupanion is especially hiring for full stack developers, automations test engineers, and software business analysts.

Trupanion is a passion-powered company with a strong commitment to pets, pet owners, the veterinary community and each other. As a company, we recognize the benefits every day of having pets in the workplace and since day one, dogs & cats have always been a vital part of our offices. Having pets in our workplace is part of our DNA and a great reminder as to why we come into to work every day: to help loving, responsible pet owners budget and care for their pets. — Michael (Communications at Trupanion)

Stride Health (San Fransisco, CA): Stride Health’s office dogs are deeply embedded in the company culture—both while at home and in the office. The company offers flexible paid time off for adopting a new pet as well as bereavement and a stipend for pet health insurance.
