Maybe. But we don’t recommend it. While oatmeal itself is safe (and even healthy) for dogs, oatmeal cookies contain added sugar, which dogs should avoid.
If the cookies contain chocolate or raisins, you should absolutely not share them with your dog, as both ingredients are toxic.
Symptoms to Look For
If your dog has eaten several plain oatmeal cookies, he may experience an upset stomach or diarrhea, but those symptoms should pass within a day or so. If your dog has eaten oatmeal cookies containing chocolate or raisins and you notice any of the following symptoms developing and getting worse, be sure to call your vet:
- Vomiting
- Restlessness
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Increased urination
- Elevated heart rate
- Tremors or seizures
