Summer is here, and with the warm weather, many folks are choosing to spend more time outside with their dogs.

For those with boats, that often means setting out to sail with canine companions as crew. Many dogs absolutely adore being out to sea with their owners – and who can blame them? The smell of the salt air and the wind in their fur is as close to heaven as it gets for a dog.

However, there are quite a few safety precautions to take before setting out to sea with your pooch. Canine life jackets are safety essentials, even for water-loving breeds like Labradors (rough waves can pull under even skilled swimmers), and light-furred dogs can suffer from sunburns just like humans without dog-safe sunscreen.

To help keep four-legged skippers safe this summer, we’re sharing this new dog boating safety infographic from K9 of Mine. Make sure to check out these boating safety tips before adventuring out on the high seas with your own doggo.
