We’re always looking for new products that make pet parents’ lives simpler! With all of the leashes hitting the market these days, we decided to put a few to the test.

Thundersnap Leash

Perfect for:

  • People in apartments or homes where they frequently take their dogs out on leash.
  • Dogs of all ages.

What we like:

  • This leash uses powerful magnets and a strong ball-bearing latch mechanism.
  • It quickly and securely connects to any collar.
  • It’s been tested to over 500lbs of force.
  • Connects and releases in a Snap!

Things to consider:

  • The portion that stays on your dog’s collar can seem bulky for smaller dogs.
  • We love the quick latch, but some were concerned about strength over time.
  • If your dog has long or fluffy hair, it can be challenging to find the clip.

Dial a Distance Leash

Perfect for:

  • Dogs of all ages.
  • People who like retractable leashes, but are looking for more flexibility.

What we like:

  • You set the distance. If you’re in the city, you can set it at a shorter length. Hiking? Extend the length to give your dog some more space.
  • You can quickly and easily adjust the distance with a turn of the dial.
  • Dial-A-Distance will automatically brake at the max length you select, from 0 to 15 feet.
  • It’s comfortable to hold.
  • A retractable leash where you don’t have to rely on the thumb break for certain distances.

Things to consider:

  • It can be slightly difficult to adjust the distance when walking.
  • The handle itself is fairly large, so for some people it may be hard to hold onto.
  • You don’t have the added security of looping your wrist through the handle.

The Gizmo

Perfect for:

  • Leash training with puppies.
  • People who love gadgets but run out of room to hold them all.
  • People looking for a comfortable handle.

What we like:

  • It’s super lightweight and easy to carry.
  • The specifically designed carabiner can hold any dog weighing up to 120lbs.
  • You can switch the standard carabiner with the dual leash carabiner to freely walk two dogs in one hand.
  • You can customize it by adding any of my connectables which come in: flashlight, poop bag dispenser and training kit.
  • The dual leash carabiner eliminates the constant double leash tangle
  • The flashlight is a nice touch especially in fall and winter.

Things to consider:

  • It may be easy for this unit to slip out of your hand with a strong puller.
  • Picking up poop while walking multiple dogs can be challenging.
  • You don’t have the added security of looping your wrist through the handle.

Tuenne Leash

Perfect for:

  • Dogs of all ages.
  • People who are looking for a sturdier clasp such as a carabiner.

What we like:

  • This leash feels like a solid, well designed leash.
  • It’s made with aluminum and steel components and has a forged screw gate carabiner.
  • It has a ball and socket swivel design and is made from climbing rope.
  • This leash comes in custom lengths, colors and with interchangeable handles which really allows you to have fun with it.
  • The handle is super soft, and feels soft on your wrist.

Things to consider:

  • The large size of the carabiner can be a little bit bulky to use with small dogs.
  • You have to remember to lock the carabiner to make it 100% safe.
