“Felt so comfortable leaving my pups in Emily’s hands. They were happy and chill when we got home. Appreciated the pics Emily sent as well! Will definitely use Emily again.”

About: Iv rescued and rehomed 15 kittens and 5 pups. Growing up with a love for animals made it easy to prioritize their health and wellbeing. Iv learned over the years how take proper care of pets and to help guide them in their journey. Though I dont do much rescuing anymore, I still have a passion taking care of pets Currently working part time so I can prioritize days with pups. I am very flexible with my time however, days may adjust based on availability. I have an Assuie so everyday is petcare day! I have up to 2 dogs, fenced in yard with plenty of space to help exercise, and run freely. The free space and outdoor range environment helps
“Amber was ahhh-mazinggg! We will 100% use her services again! Our pups adored her and listened so well while we were gone. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. The constant updates, the pictures and the timely check-in’s gave us such a peace of mind! She even brought in our packages that were delivered while we were gone! Definitely recommend to anyone needing some trusted help!”

I love all dogs and your fur baby will be treated like family ❤️. I’ll follow their routine, shower them with playtime, and send you daily updates & pics 🐾📸. I’m happy to help at anytime and give your pup extra love and cuddles while you’re away! I’m a full time pet caregiver. I’m very flexible with time since I am home 24/7. I will accommodate my time to match your pets needs. About: I am home everyday all day long, have 6 years of fostering experience with a rescue and 16+ years caring for animals. I can take any dog no matter what size! We also have a fenced backyard, so your pup will be safe and happy here! We have 3 dogs (1 is 15, 2 are 5) and they love all dogs and will play and snuggle with their new friend. We have had 27+ fosters meet our dogs and they got along with every single one of them :) We live in Gaffney on 30 acres so small hikes and walks are possible, and we have a fenced yard for routine potty trips. I work from home every day and I have 4 dogs of my own, so your pup will fit in just fine here! We have fostered over 27 dogs over the last 5 years, and our dogs are very well behaved so if yours is very young and needs help potty training, they will learn quickly from my pack! I love the ability to be home everyday in a senior role at work, so I basically do a lot of independent work - which means I can throw the ball in our fenced yard, potty train, snuggle, and ensure your pup has a fantastic time!
“Our anti-social kitty likes her better than us! Allison is incredible!!! From the moment we met her for a meet & greet I knew she was perfect. We felt 100% comfortable with her coming in to our home, and knew our cats were in great hands. She’s responsible, great at communicating with us, and so sweet. She must be a cat whisperer because our shy kitty not only snuggled her day 1, but even let Allison rub her belly! We are so thankful to have such a wonderful professional do checkins/feeding while we were away.”
“Heather was absolutely amazing. She arrived on time every day and ensured my cat baby had food and water. She even checked her litter and cleaned up when my cat threw up. I was so pleased with her! She also left me a lovely card that I so much appreciated. I would definitely work with Heather again in the future.”
About: I have background in the animal control field where I was an officer and also work for veterinary services within gaston county. Your pet will be treated like family here, animals are a huge part of my life. I have had almost every possible animal, horses, cows, cats, dogs, large and small, chickens, pigs, and even fish. I love them all. I do work 4 days during the week but am home the majority of the time to spend with your furrbabies. They will be let out in the morning before I leave for work on those days and immediately after I've arrived back home. I only work 8 hour days and outside of that I'm home the rest of the time. My yard is not fenced in but i live on a cul de sac, horse pasture and cow pasture and tree farm on 3 sides .. i prefer to walk dogs on a leash while outside ( just in case) but if they seem to be well behaved and trust worthy i may play fetch with them and my frenchie in the back yard , there are only 2 houses on my road so we do have lots of privacy. Your furrbabies will stay inside with me.

About: Hi, my name is Shavonna and I’ve been on Rover since the beginning of Spring 2019. I’m 32yrs old and I live in Rock Hill SC, and I have two boys and a daughter. They are 1yr, 4yr, and a 11yr. I love working with animals, it’s my passion other than being a mother to my kids. I went to school for veterinary assistant and have a certification to help animals or to take care of them. I treat animals is like they was my own. I’m very sweet and gentle when it comes to someone pet and if you let me I can show you how a good pet sitter I can be! My skills are is to let the pet know that I’m in control because sometimes the pet might run over you, so you have to show them who’s boss. Any other way I will not neglect the animal nor abuse, I feel that’s an awful thing to do! Like I said you have to treat the animals as just as if was my own because they are human beings just in a different way! I work from home. So basically I be at home the majority of the day. So I have time on my hands to fit pet care in my schedule! I make sure they are well love as much love I give to my boys and daughter! I also will take them on walks as needed to get the nature outdoors!
“Alex has been nothing but great so far. She is very communicative about her availability and her visits. Xavia LOVES her and they have gotten along since the initial visit. She is very gentle and very nice. So glad I found her on here! She has been a HUGE help!”

About: I have extensive dog sitting experience and a genuine love for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. I’m comfortable caring for energetic puppies, laid-back seniors, anxious dogs who need extra patience, and everything in between. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away, and I always strive to create a calm, caring environment for them. I’m experienced with walks, feeding routines, playtime, crate routines, administering basic medications if needed, and giving dogs the attention and affection they deserve. I’m attentive to each dog’s unique needs and personality, whether that means lots of exercise and play or quiet companionship and reassurance. My goal is always to make both pets and owners feel completely at ease. I work full-time, but I carefully plan pet care around my schedule to ensure every pet receives attentive, dependable care and plenty of love. I’m very organized with my routine and make time for walks, feeding schedules, playtime, check-ins, and quality attention before and after work, as well as throughout evenings and weekends. Because I genuinely enjoy caring for animals, pet sitting is something I intentionally make space for in my life — not something rushed or treated as an afterthought. I’m committed to making pets feel comfortable, cared for, and secure while keeping owners updated and reassured along the way. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to maintain their normal routine and create a calm, comfortable environment while their owners are away. I understand that pets feel safest in familiar surroundings, so I focus on keeping their schedule consistent with feeding, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and plenty of affection and attention. I’m respectful, responsible, and attentive while staying in someone’s home, and I treat both pets and the home with great care. I also provide regular updates, photos, and communication so owners can feel reassured knowing their pets are happy, safe, and well cared for.

About: I have been taking care of pets since I was 10 walking neighborhood dogs. I have three cats at home and I have owned a dog before! I love pets, and love seeing a happy pet!! I am currently a full time student athlete, but have a very flexible schedule. I am totally willing to spend nights with pets and even just stop by for a walk here and there! I am still living in a dorm styled housing, so taking pegs in my home will not yet be an option. Although I’m sure if I had to walk the pet over, there are sooo many people that would love to give some love that are missing their pets at home!!
“Lindsey did a great job! She was reliable, trustworthy and our kitty loved her. She kept us posted with check in and check out times and always sent several photos of kitty eating or playing. We are definitely going to hire her again!”

“Latrice went above and beyond. Truly. I appreciate all the sweet pics she sent of Dolly while i was gone along with updates:) my condo has a keyfob only entry and her flexibility in meeting me after a late flight home to drop keys was so incredibly kind and appreciated on my end. Dolly very much enjoyed being in Latrice’s care and ill absolutely be booking Latrice again the next time I’m out of town:)”

“Kennedy was very consistent with communication and always quick to respond. She showed up on time every day to let our dog out at lunch and called me as requested when she had a concern. She took the time to come meet us beforehand as well since we initially thought we would need her for an overnight visit, and followed my (very detailed) instructions to care for our Nemo since he had some blisters on his paws. Thank you, Kennedy, for doing everything we asked on such short notice and for always keeping me updated!”

Ashley was absolutely amazing!! She came and met our animals before our trip and that definitely helped them feel more comfortable. Even with a slight little hiccup between our dog and cat during the trip she was super informative, quick to act and help best she could, and let us know immediately. I couldn’t have felt more comfortable and safe knowing she was taking care of our fur babies. I will definitely recommend her to everybody! And if we go out of town again I would love to use her again. She was phenomenal!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
