“Emily did a fantastic job with my dog Jack. She went beyond what we asked and made sure Jack had the best week full of walks and cuddles. We got regular updates and photos, and everything looked great when we got home.”

“Michelle was an amazing dog and house sitter! She was very responsive to my texts and sent lots of updates. She took my dog to the park and for lots of long walks. She gave him lots of cuddles too. I would definitely recommend her!”

“Gabe was an amazing dog sitter! He took care of our pup all weekend, staying in our home, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He was incredibly responsive, kept us updated with photos, and made sure our dog got plenty of walks and attention. Communication was excellent throughout, and we really appreciated the peace of mind knowing our pet was in great hands. Plus, our home was spotless when we returned! We’d absolutely recommend Gabe to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter, and we’ll definitely be booking with him again.”

“Emily was amazing. She stepped in to watch our house/dog at the last minute and she was so great. Xena clearly had a great week while we were gone because we came home to a very happy and well-regulated pup! We are so grateful.”

About: I have 4 years of experience caring for dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities. What sets me apart is my patience, strong attention to detail, and genuine love for animals. I’m comfortable with puppy care, including basic training and routine building, as well as senior pet care, giving them the gentle support and monitoring they need. I focus on creating a safe, calm, and loving environment so every pet feels secure and happy while you’re away. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine because I currently manage resource coordination for a non-profit organization remotely, which gives me a very flexible schedule. This allows me to dedicate plenty of time to walks, play, feeding, and keeping pets company throughout the day. I’m able to adjust my routine around each pet’s needs to make sure they receive consistent attention and care. I’m fully open to caring for pets in my clients’ homes, where they feel safest and most comfortable. I handle walks, feeding, playtime, and any daily routines they’re used to. I can also take pets to their vet appointments or any necessary check-ups, and I have a spacious vehicle that makes transportation easy and safe when needed. I always take the time to understand each pet’s personality, habits, and comfort levels so I can give them calm, attentive, and reliable care just the way you would.
“Sydney is THE dog sitter. But she’s more than just that. She took tremendous care of our home. She looked after it as if it were ours. The dogs were loved and cared for. Photos and videos were sent. She wasn’t afraid to ask questions when necessary. I could rave about her professionalism and calm yet confident demeanor all day long! 11/10!”

About: I have taken care of neighbors and friends dogs for many years and want to broaden my doggy friends! I trained my black lab puppy and also had an another black lab my entire life who lived 16 years, so I am skilled with older and younger dogs. I am a recent college graduate home for the summer and I love dogs. Just looking for things to do and may as-well make it enjoyable!! I have a condo perfect for dogs. I am very respectful and clean about other people’s spaces. Dogs are my besties and I am excited to meet more!!
“Annika was phenomenal! She followed all our instructions and took care of our sweet boys so well! She was very tidy and went above and beyond to keep our home clean. We were out of cellular range during our trip and we came back to pictures and updates of how well our fur babies were doing with her. I would highly recommend her and we will be booking again! Thank you Annika for such great attention to detail and giving so much love to our puppy and senior boys”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life. I grew up with two labs and giving them several walks a day was always a high priority so they could burn up all that energy!I understand the importance of a good walk and how it can also be tough to squeeze in sometimes on a busy day. So don’t spend the day feeling guilty if your schedule won’t allow time to give your dog a walk. I can help. We usually let our dogs off the leash so they could run and fetch, but if you would rather me keep them on a leash that is what I will do. I have lived in the area for a while so I know plenty of spots to take them, or if you have preferred routes I will do that. On 3 occasions over the past couple years I have stayed with my sister and her husbands two dogs (lab mixed with Aussie Shepard) for a week at a time. They have as strict of a walking routine/diet as you can imagine and I had no problems satisfying their needs. I also understand that when traveling you cannot always bring your pet with you and putting them in a doggie hotel is both expensive and not a good time for them. If you’d like them to remain in the comfort of your home I’m happy to spend time with them and make sure they are comforted through that period. I work mornings from 5:30-1 5 days a week. I am available from 2 until 8 or 9 for walks or check-in’s, feeding, cleaning up. I’m a very active person so can take your dog on long walks, a hike or just play in the yard if preferred. My parents who are often not in town have a large very nice condo in elkhorn that is pet friendly that is available for use. There is an upstairs deck available off the living room for them to go between for them to get some fresh air The yard is not fenced so downstairs I could not leave them to roam. But neighborhood is quiet with a great path for walking them, also have trails out into the desert I could take them if alright.

Jenna was so amazing with our two boys! Sending photos and always easy to get ahold of. I would 10/10 recommend her to anyone. She has such a calm presence and our two big dogs were excited to see her the moment she walked in. I can't thank her enough for making us feel so at ease knowing our dogs and home were in great hands!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Barite walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Barite maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Barite choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
