So we were a little worried and skeptical about using rover for the first time but Shauna was amazing with our pets. She sent us updates and pictures of the pets during a difficult time of year due to it being over the new year eve weekend (fireworks). She also took very good care of the house which we appreciate, would highly recommend Shauna to anyone and will definitely be using her again!

We had a wonderful experience and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and attentive. Our cats are typically very anxious and don’t warm up to new people easily, but she was incredibly patient and gentle with them. By the end of our trip, they were comfortable and even snuggly with her, which really says a lot. She treats your pets like her own and consistently goes above and beyond what’s asked. As anxious pet parents, it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. She also provided regular, detailed updates, which helped us feel connected and reassured while we were away. We’re so grateful for the care she gave our pets and will definitely be using her again. If you’re looking for someone who will love your pets, understand their quirks, and keep you sane while you’re away—she’s it. 10/10, no notes.

About: What sets me apart as a sitter is the level of care, attention, and adaptability I bring to every pet I look after. I treat each animal like they’re my own, which means taking the time to understand their personality, routine, and specific needs so they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I currently work fulltime but weekends I am fully available! I love animals and always have since I was little. Growing up we’ve always have had dogs and cats. I have a fenced yard and we have plenty of room for the dogs to run around. I do also have a pug that is 6 years old but he is super friendly.

About: My name is Kim and when it comes to me loving dogs!!!! I am obsessed with dogs (in a good way) I'm an animal lover period, but dogs are everything to me. I can't fully explain in words, but if you ask anyone who knows me they know that I am dog crazy. I actually think one of the reasons I was put on the planet, was to help dogs. Dogs hold a very special place in my heart and in my soul, not sure why I feel such a great love and connection to them, I just do. I was a doggy mommy for 16 years! My dog Kimba was given to me as a gift when he was 3 months and he lived to be 16 years old. He was my first love and was a major part of my life. He taught me so much...how to love, how to be patient, how to take care of another being, how to enjoy life. My dog brought so much joy and happiness to my life, I can't even explain how much he helped shape who I am today. he passed away 3 years ago and it has been really hard. I truly cherish all the great memories within those 16 awesome years. I've been through it all with my dog...sick days, happy days, arthritis, allergies, dog bites, fleas, rashes, cysts, heart issues....lets not forget about walking him in the rain, sleet, snow, hurricanes, scorching heat and earth quakes lol...when your baby needs to be taken care of, you don't think twice. Being that I was a doggy mommy for 16 years, I have a vast knowledge on how to take care of dogs and what it takes to take care of dogs. I feel like I am in tune with dogs, I can tell when they are happy, sad, nervous etc. Dogs are just like children. they need to be fed, loved, go to the bathroom, go to the doctors, wear clothes, play etc. I am very reliable and if you have a certain route where you want your dog walked, or a certain way not a problem. When it comes to specialized food and toys, you can bring your baby's bed and toys over. I am also a great cook and use to cook for my dog all time. I can cook for your baby if need me. I'm very flexible, I want your dog to feel like they are at home, even if its a few hours stay. Comfort and happiness are most important to me when it comes to the dog and its owner. About this sitter: Where do I even start when it comes to me loving dogs!!!! I am obsessed with dogs (in a good way) I'm an animal lover period, but dogs are everything to me. About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 16 and I’m now 26 . My friends, family members and my boss have trust me with their paw-friends & you can to🐶❤️ I also have experience working with elder dogs and giving them their medication as needed . I’ve dog sat for so many friends and family for the past several years and it’s honestly so rewarding 😊🌸 Pet care is already part of my routine because I enjoy spending time with my two dogs . I make time each day for feeding, walks, playtime, exercise, and giving pets the attention and care they need to feel happy and comfortable. 🐾 I treat every pet as if they were my own. In a client’s home, I follow their pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, potty breaks, medications (if needed), and lots of attention and affection. I also keep the home clean, secure, and provide regular updates to pet parents. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a safe, comfortable, and supervised environment with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and companionship. My goal is to make pets feel relaxed, happy, and well cared for while their owners are away. 🐾

About: I’ve cared for dogs of every kind since I was 10—big, small, shy, or extra wiggly! Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to walk, feed, and pamper their pets for years. Along the way, I’ve also cared for reptiles, birds, and other unique companions. Whether it’s a turtle that needs tank time, a parrot that loves to chat, or a pup who lives for belly rubs, I treat every pet like part of the family! I’m a college student with an open and flexible schedule, which means I have plenty of time to give your pets the love and attention they deserve! I’m available most weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and can easily adjust my hours to fit your pet’s routine. My home is spacious, cozy, and fully pet-friendly! I have plenty of toys, treats, bones, and comfy spots for pets to relax and play. While I don’t have a yard, I’m close to several beautiful dog parks and walking trails here in Clovis—perfect for daily walks and exercise. Pets in my care enjoy a safe, fun, and loving environment where they’re treated like part of the family.

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and really started to help take care of them when I was around 15. I dog sit for family and for friends whenever they need and have always enjoyed it! Pet care for me is whenever I’m available. I do work part time and I’m a full time student but even if I am busy I can make time for your fur baby! I won’t be able to care for dogs in my own home because I am in an apartment. I will take care of the animal however the owner (you) recommends, and will make sure the animal gets a lot of love/attention! :)

About: Animal Care and service was my career and my passion for many years, since I was a child. I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from several Humane Societies and Animal Care Centers over the years. Loving, Caring for and protecting Animals have always been my passion as well as serving in my community. This is my opportunity to share my home, my passion and my love for animals with your (furry) family member and I am excited about that. I have always appreciated the trust, loyalty and respect given to me by the owners that love their dogs, simply put! It’s just a wonderful feeling to be around all that love. I am officially retired so I have plenty of time to spend with your furry family member, I also have a flexible schedule so that I can offer several Animal Care Services I have a gated front yard, fenced rear yard and a secure pool area if your dogs likes to have water fun, additional secure small Animal play Area (my Boston’s love it). The security cameras also give that little extra feeling of safety. I have crates, dog beds and private quiet rooms for the Animals to sleep or rest in if needed so your animal always feels totally at home. (because that’s the real goal!❤️).

FAQs for House Sitting - Avocado

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Avocado on Rover is $111 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 561 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Avocado. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Avocado walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Avocado maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Avocado choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Avocado. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
