“Abby is reliable, flexible, and someone I know I can count on to take great care of my cat. She was very accommodating with changing schedules and last-minute changes, which made things so much easier. She also goes above and beyond to keep me informed about how my cat is doing and treats him with so much care and attention. I always feel confident knowing he’s in good hands with her!”

“A huge thank you to Gina for taking such wonderful care of Auggie and Lucky! It means so much to know they were not only well cared for but also loved as if they were her own. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care made all the difference. We truly appreciate her and wouldn’t hesitate to trust her again!”

“Heidi was super helpful, she was available with fairly short notice to come check in on my crew while I was out for the day. She did all I asked and was great with my dogs. I look forward to using her again.”
About: We are a military family who had to leave their animals behind during the last move. We are hoping to warm up our days by taking care of others furry friends. We are an active family that live right by Medal of Honor park. We have a large home and fenced in back yard, lots of room for playing or relaxing by the pool. We are a loving family family with two little ones (3 and 5). My husband and I both work during the week, but we work opposite schedules so there is always someone home. We are animal lovers who are free to take care of your furry friend when it’s convenient for you. We have a large fenced in backyard with a pool and a large house, both with a lot of space for activities. If crate was provided we have the space for that. We are right by Medal of Honor park so we are easily able to go on walks and visit the park.

“Jasmine is kind, trusting and flexible. She is always quick to respond to requests and has been very accommodating with our schedule. My cat and dog love when she comes by and they always look so excited in the pictures she sends when she checks in on them. Jasmine is our one and only preferred rover sitter!”

“Emily is great as always. My dog is old and has incontinence and Emily takes that in stride. I always feel very comfortable leaving them when she will be taking care of them.”

“Alicia is fantastic! Our full size active doggie had a great time with Alicia, and she warmly helped our cat out too. She's a real pro with animals, and helped us exactly during the time slot we needed to get our dog out on the beach for a long romp and great time. Her communication is excellent, and she went above and beyond on a number of little items to keep our pets fed, exercised and happy. Alicia is very nice and personable too. We are so happy to find Alicia as we can leave town happily knowing our pets are in awesome hands with her.”

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Astoria. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 90% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
