“The girls where a little iffy at first, but Arlissa took her time with them and showed them love… the next thing I know I’m getting videos of them going on a walk, tails wagging! We’ll definitely be back!”

“Stephanie took great care of our high-energy German Sheppard! We advised that he needs a lot of exercise during the day. He came home happy, and he was tired from all of the play he had during the day.”

“Catherine and Hubby are a wonderful team. They both love animals and they take such good care of my fur baby, just like she's their own. If you need care I highly recommend THEM!”

About: I own and care for a 3 year-old medium goldendoodle. He is energetic and always ready to play with any dog or human around. I have 2 years of dog training experience, including basic obedience training, and basic trick training. I grew up with a Brittany, so I am very familiar with the personalities and instincts of hunting breeds as well. I stay at home with my one year old son, so I am available during the week days, and for extended stays/overnight boarding. We would love to care for your dog! I have a fenced in yard for the dogs to run. I will provide your dog’s food and any medicines or care routines on your provided schedule, to maintain your dog’s familiar routine while in a new environment. I am flexible with your dog’s preferred sleeping arrangements— I have a large crate and a medium sized crate available if your dog is a crate sleeper, but my dog is allowed on furniture, so I will provide whatever your dog prefers. Family-friendly, non-aggressive, fairly sociable dogs are preferred, no age preferences or restrictions. My toddler LOVES dogs and will certainly run up to hug or pet the dog.

“Ann was amazing!! Her and her family were great with Atticus and made him feel loved at home. She is quick to respond to my request and I really appreciated the time she took to make sure everything was set. I would definitely bring Atticus back for another day spent with Ann and her family!”

“Aparajita was absolutely wonderful! This was a last-minute booking, and she was incredibly responsive, kind, and accommodating. She was so sweet with Dexter and clearly made him feel loved and comfortable right away. She kept us updated with so many fun photos and videos of Dexter playing and having a great time with her two bigger dogs, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear he was having an amazing time and was being cared for like one of her own. We are so grateful for her excellent communication, flexibility, and loving care. We highly recommend Aparajita to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter!”

About: My wife and I have been taking care of our dog and foster dogs for the past 6 years. We've taken care of dogs ranging in size of French bulldogs to Siberian huskies. We have experience with high maintenance dogs and giving medications as well. My wife and I currently work from home and have plenty of time to play and take care of your pups. During the week boarding availability is best in the evening after 5 but accommodations can be made if needed. Weekends are 100% free and open. I have a larger fenced in yard and great neighborhood for plenty of walks. I can easily crate your dog if needed as well. We have plenty of different dog toys and beds throughout the house too.
“Sabrina and her family were awesome, they were so good to Oliver and I know he had a blast because he came home and immediately passed out for the rest of the night! I definitely recommend Sabrina for all your pup watching needs!”

About: I have loved animals ever since I was born. They are my favorite thing in life. I will treat your animal with the most love I can offer. I’m more of a stay-at-home person, so when I am committed to watching your pet, they will be well taken care of while in my care. I have a fenced in yard and lots of space for a dog to play in! I have 2 cats but they are very antisocial and won’t be a problem. I’m also a quick learner and a natural when it comes to pet care!
About: Hi, I’m Courtney! Your dog’s new dependable best friend. With 15 years of experience working with animals, I bring a calm, confident, and caring approach to every visit. I’m comfortable with all breeds, all sizes, and all personalities — from shy seniors to energetic puppies. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I currently have dogs and guinea pigs at home, so I understand how important it is to find someone you trust with your furry family. My goal is to make every dog feel safe, happy, and understood while keeping you updated every step of the way. Pet care is naturally built into my weekly routine. I plan my schedule around my drop-ins and walks to make sure every pet gets consistent, on-time care. I check in throughout the day, send updates, and make sure each visit has my full attention. On my days off, I’m even more flexible and can offer extra visit times. In your home, I follow your pet’s routine, make sure their needs are met, keep their space clean, and give them plenty of attention. I provide calm, consistent care and always send updates each visit.
“Aubrey really helped us out with last minute daycare after a death in our family. Our dog Maggie got along well with her two terriers. She updated me with pictures and texts through out the day. Thank you Aubrey!”

“McKenzie provided good communication and updates of care with pictures. Our dogs seemed healthy and happy upon pickup. McKenzie creates a well prepared dog environment for their enjoyment and safety. McKenzie was friendly and professional.”

“You are awesome! Kobe loves it when he’s with you and your family. We’ve been home for about 30 minutes and he’s trying to take a snooze! I’m so glad we found you, you’re amazing! Thank you for caring and loving on my baby while I’m away working!”

“Kayla and her husband were so welcoming and careful with our puppies! You can tell right away Kayla genuinely cares for making our puppies feel at home with her and her family. Murray and Rio surely had a great time at Kayla’s home. I’m beyond grateful for having found someone to care for our puppies when we’re away. Thank you so much for having our puppies at your home, Kayla! And thanks for taking care of them as if they were your own. It means the world to me!”

“As a first time user of Rover we were a little nervous but Kristin was great answering our questions and caring for our puppy for the day. He went on multiple walks, the photos were nice, and knowing he was with people and not by himself for the day was the best. He slept like a baby that night too which we appreciated! Thank you!!”

About: I give my full attention to each pet I care for. Taking time to reinforce training, reward good behaviors, and always remaining playful, peaceful, and happy. I treat every pet like my own child. Pets are a member of our families and should be treated just the same. Once I meet a pet I do everything I can to get to know their whole personality. What makes them wag their tail, what they don’t particularly care for, and what needs they need met. I want to ensure that the next time I meet a pet, they recognize me and know I was a fun and safe human to be around. I also want to ensure the human owners feel comfortable and at ease around me. Knowing your pet is in good care is just as important as caring for them yourself. I am currently working part-time so I have plenty of time to give dogs the exercise and attention they require. I am available for dog boarding and doggy daycare everyday of the week. I walk animals three to four times a day. I, also, live right up from a dog park where I take dogs to roam and play.

“Karen was amazing!! We were traveling in from out-of-town and were very nervous about leaving our pug, Curtis, with a stranger for the first time since we got him a few months ago. Karen was very knowledgeable, and Curtis seemed drawn to her right away, which pretty quickly helped to put us more at ease. Karen was great with Curtis and sent us several fun and cute updates throughout the day about snuggling, playing piano for him, and his unexpectedly strong attachment to her husband Jim. When we picked him up at the end of each day, Curtis seemed happy and confident, which indicated that he had a lot of fun hanging out with Karen (& Jim), and we always stayed an extra 15 minutes to chat. Her house was kind of a drive from where we were staying in downtown Cincinnati, but Karen was well-worth the drive. If we’re ever back in Cincinnati with Curtis, we would love to work with Karen again!”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Astoria commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
