“Katey was amazing. She was very communicative and attuned to my pets needs and personalities. She was reliable and I came home to happy pets. I would definitely use her again!!”

“Evan & Quinn were the most thoughtful and reliable pet sitters we’ve ever met. They were able to help with a longer housesitting stay and care for our dog Sky AND her 5 newborn puppies. They went above and beyond to keep us updated daily and deal with all the little quirks and concerns that came up. They were also very courteous of our home and left everything neat and tidy. We would trust them with any pet care and will absolutely book them again.”

“This was our first time using Rover and our first experience with an in‑home overnight sitter, and Brian delivered exceptional service. His communication was consistent and clear, he was reliable and he arrived exactly as scheduled. We returned to two well‑cared‑for dogs and a home exactly as we left it. Brian set a high standard for our first experience, and we would confidently book with him again.”

“Katherine did a great job taking care of our dog and the house. We really appreciated her updates, communication, and cleanliness. We would highly recommend her and will be reaching out again in the future!”

“Emalie was a great sitter for our two dogs and two cats. She was very communicative and shared photos of our littles daily. She followed our care instructions and was conscientious of each animals specific needs. We look forward to hiring her again!”

“Keri was a fantastic caretaker for my two dogs. She followed the care instructions, took them on a daily walk, and administered medication 2x daily. A highlight was all the photos she sent of my dogs happy, relaxed, and cared for. Keri also left our home in clean condition. I would definitely have her take care of the dogs again!”

At this moment I’ve taken some time away from work and focus on myself. So every animal in my care will have one hundred percent of my attention. Having a lot of time on my hands now allow me to go on long walks or adventure to close by dog parks to allow your dog to make some new friends
“Alexis was absolutely amazing. She house sat for us and took care of our dog (with special behavioral needs) and our cat for 10 days. The pets were so happy when we returned, it was as if we had never left. We could tell they were well cared for. She was tidy and well communicative. It was also incredibly helpful that she did a meet and greet before with our pup just to ensure things ran smoothly before we departed for our trip. We felt very secure while away and will definitely be contacting her in the future! She is the absolute sweetest.”

“Felix was such an attentive and caring sitter that I’m so lucky to have had the pleasure to be with my cats during a short stay!! My girls were so well-cared for and it was evident as soon as I got home ? Thank you so much, Felix!!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals for about six years and have experience with dogs, cats, and other pets. I’ve helped friends, family, and neighbors with pet sitting, feeding, walks, playtime, and daily care. I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities and needs, from energetic young animals to older pets that need a little extra attention. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and always do my best to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for while their owners are away. My schedule is very flexible and I am generally available at most times. I can accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and last minute bookings whenever needed. I focus on clear communication, consistent routines, and attentive care so pets feel comfortable and owners feel confident, informed, and reassured while they are away.
“Quessandra did an amazing job with Bella. I reached out to her super late at night and last minute and she came through in a pinch. She also sent lots of pics which eased my mind. I will be using her again and again to keep Bella company.”

About: I grew up on a farm and helped take care of a variety of animals. I've seen a lot and know how to handle an emergency if it comes up. Most of my experience is with dogs, cats and birds. I have cared for: small, medium and large dog breeds including ones labeled as "aggressive" (German Shepherds, Pit Bulls, Dobermans, etc). The cats I have cared for have been house and barn cats and most were American Shorthair. Other animals I have cared for: variety of doves, variety of parrots both small and large (both seed and nectar feeding), helped rehab a crow once, mini horses, llamas, sheep, goats, cows, chickens, peacocks, pheasants, iguana, snakes, rabbits, mice, hamsters, fish, eels, and frogs. Property Maintenance: I love gardens and have helped with basic maintenance tasks and harvesting. I can assist with weeding, watering, etc. I can help harvest flowers for arrangement or drying. I can also help with harvesting produce and process it for long term storage if needed. I use to be a home owner, so I can do basic home maintenance such as changing air filters, yard work, collecting mail, answering calls, etc. I have rented and traveled a fair bit too. I can also do daily cleaning, laundry, etc. Specialty Skills: Some of the dogs and cats I cared for had medication requirements that I needed to attend to and be mindful of. I have limited experience with senior animals but I do have some. Twister lived to be very old for a Jack Russel and experienced seizures later in her life. She lived on for many years still and even survived a broken pelvis from being hit by a car. I helped her rehab during that period of time too. I know how to apply flea/tick medication, and administer pill medication to dogs and cats. The birds I raised did have parasites once. I was able to identify the problem and take them to the vet for treatment. Since a lot of animals I have cared for were outside animals, I also know how to tend wounds and dress them. I have an eye for spotting issues and unusual behavior to quickly get the help the animals needs. Booked for July, August and first week of September. Looking for sits in the Tacoma to Portland region from Sept 9th onwards. Reach out to me today before I fill up! I'm an artist and project manager. I work remotely and currently focused on my art business. I am searching for places of inspiration and maybe fall in love with a town I can one day call my home. I know I want to move, but I'm not sure what's next. This is my chance to explore that. For any animal I'm taking care of I need to know their daily schedule and any rules they need to follow. Any behavior issues or sensitivities or fears would be great to know as well. Knowing this will help me keep your pets on routine, calm and happy.
“Amanda did an amazing job looking after our fur babies. She kept us updated on our pups and she gave us a peace of mind knowing that our pups will be well taken care of. We will definitely re-book with her in the future.”

“This visit was especially difficult as my dog needed unplanned visits daily to the vet because of a surgery that went sideways right before I left on a trip. Adam handled it like the consummate professional he is. We are grateful for everything he does for our pack.”

“Holly is an excellent sitter who I would absolutely recommend to anyone who needs a sitter for a quick check in or for a longer stay. She watched my dogs for a week while I was across the country and she was communicative and went the extra mile to make sure my dogs were comfortable. I’ve used her multiple times in the past and it’s always been a great experience. Holly is also very flexible for emergencies and changes in schedules. I will continue to use her in the future!”

“Heather did a wonderful job with our timid rescue during our first trip since moving to the area. She followed instructions perfectly and kept our dog’s routine pretty seamless. She also adapted very well to some small changes about that plan as we worked through my dog’s separation anxiety. Will certainly be booking with Heather again whenever her work schedule will allow.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 435 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ashford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ashford. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
