“Marta is very reliable and responsive. We had her to take care of our cat during our family trips. She was great with updating us and I’m sure we will ask her to take care of our cat again!”

“I can’t recommend Becky any higher. She goes above and beyond, is communicative, diligent, and gave me peace of mind that everything was fine. She’s the right person to care for your felines.”

“This is the second time using her services. I hope my feedback will provide her with even more clients. Yasmeen is super sweet, patient and gentle. Sometimes, I checked the pictures, and feedback. Sometimes, I didnt because I knew they were in safe hands! Top tier service and peace of mind while we were away. Of course we will use her again!”

“I recently had the pleasure of having Caleigh take care of my two Bengal cats for 9 days. She was incredibly punctual and maintained excellent communication throughout the entire time, providing regular updates and photos, which gave me great peace of mind. My cats were well taken care of, and I came home to a clean and tidy house. I will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future!”

“Klaudia was such an amazing Rover! She was so responsive and helped us out in a pinch. Our dog loved her and she made sure to keep us updated every time she checked in on him. Can’t recommend her enough. We absolutely plan to use her again!”

About: I have had my own pets since I can remember ranging from cats, dogs, iguanas, hamsters, fish, salamanders, hermit crabs, and even chicks. Growing up, I spent my summers on my grandfather's farm raising cows, horses, pigs, cats, dogs, chickens and a rooster. I don't have and human kids but I have raised many fur babies. I am the go-to person for family and friends, especially for pets with very specific care instructions. I am in NYC; I drive and have a pretty flexible schedule at this time. My career outside of pets includes Human Resources Management and Operation Director at different schools. I am currently working for myself as a treat maker so I am very flexible with time. I also have a clean license and reliable transportation. I am currently in NYC but can travel to Westchester County and northern NJ as well. I love when a client gives me detailed instructions and will follow them to a tee. I am a very organized person with a high attention to detail who often goes above and beyond in everything I do. Because I have worked with children and at schools, I have been fingerprinted by NYS/NYC, Dept of Health and the NYC Dept of Ed.

About: I grew up in a big family with lots of pets including dogs, cats, rodents, and birds. I have been successful in self-taught basic training of dogs. I am a graduate student who plans to have pet care be a source of income that fits around my schedule. I have classes during the week and currently live on campus which is why I cannot provide care in my home. I have owned many pets in my life and have cared for different ages from puppies and kittens to seniors. I enjoy promoting enrichment activities and physical exercise.

At this time, I’m not offering extended house sitting or overnight stays in your home. If you’re looking for care for a longer period, I’m happy to discuss boarding in my home, as long as your dog is comfortable around other dogs. I have a friendly dog of my own, so I require a meet-and-greet first to make sure everyone gets along and feels safe. I understand every dog has unique needs, and I’m happy to provide updates, photos, and plenty of attention during each visit. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! I work Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. I live very close to work and get to go home to walk/ feed my own dog during my lunch time. I have availability Wednesdays and Fridays during 12-1pm to drop in/ walk/ feed your pup! After 5pm I walk my dog again and have availability to also walk/ stop in/ feed yours as well. I don't work weekends and have full availability to be with your pet as needed. Starting October 2026, I'll have availability for Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends for all services. Proof of updated vaccinations will be required as I need to protect my own pets as well! I have a fenced in yard and very friendly dog who loves to play and relax with other dogs or cats! My dog gets home cooked meals that are prepped for him to last all week. He also gets kibble mixed in! He loves daily walks/ drives and fresh water! I will make sure your dog also gets walks, food and potty breaks or drives if they love drives! My cat is very social and friendly as well, she tends to be more independent and changing her litter, feeding her fresh food and fresh water for her daily is very important. Cats can be very particular with their water, food and playtime and I will make sure to follow that for your cat.
“Maria took excellent care of our cat for a week, 2 visits a day. She was there like clockwork - and sent us photos, which we loved. I appreciated how communicative she was, especially with a snowstorm coming. Would 100 % use her again.”

About: I have taken care of dogs since we first got our family dog when I was 15. I take care of my neighbors dogs/cats when they go on vacation as well as family members pets when needed. I currently have no pets in my home but would love to help you care for yours. I do work full time but definitely have time to take care of your pups. I am home when needed for a walk or just to hang out with them! I live in a complex with plenty of outdoor space and close by a walking path. My husband and I love dogs of all sizes and would love to take care of them!
“Tara did a great job stopping by to hang out with our dogs one night when we had to work late! Tara stayed with the dogs for an hour. They played fetch in the backyard, ate their dinner, and had some chill time on the couch. I absolutely trust Tara when giving her care instructions, and she made a late night at work easier with her updates and communicate. Thanks, Tara!”

About: For almost all of my life I have had either beloved cats or dogs. I can do long walks or cat playtime. I am also an animal advocate. My small dog with a big friendly personality, who recently passed at age 14, was epileptic and I kept her close. We were besties. I got to spend a lot of time with other dogs with her. Before that I always had cats, I get them, and I find them all cute and hilarious. I have a flexible schedule, mornings are best, right now Mon-wed.. Can take a long walk or just hang out with your animal. Weekends are great. I live in Somers and work part time in Pleasantville. So anywhere in between is great. Will not be caring for dogs in my home at this time, unless very small/tiny and quiet. I can come to your house happy to travel if for a longer stay.
About: My family is proud to have adopted several dogs from local shelters and make them a part of our family. When our Ziggy (Golden Retriever) passed away in 2017 after 9 years, we picked up Loki (a black lab mix) and he's bringing us joy on a daily basis. Since I moved away to start medical school, I have been looking for ways to connect with animals, and this has included going to visit friends with dogs and cats, and is also the reason I've signed up with Rover! I look forward to meeting your lovely pets, and to working with you! The best options for me will be dog-walking or house-sitting considering my school schedule, but mornings/evenings would probably work best for me. However, I don't have a set schedule, so there is possible availability at any time during the day, depending on what mandatory events I need to attend. I am unable to care for pets in my home but I am happy to house-sit. I can ensure that your pet is getting the proper amount of water, food, exercise, rest, and attention for the entire time I am booked.

For clients, it is summer time which means my schedule is very flexible to help you out as best as I can! I treat every animal with love and it is their space so they choose the pace! “Joseph always goes above and beyond as a pet sitter. He is an incredibly good communicator and I know that my dog is being well loved and taken care of under Joseph’s care. My dog is very active and still has lots of puppy energy, but Joseph remains patient with him and makes sure that my dog can safely get his energy out.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Archville
Georgina was amazing ! She took care of my cat on short notice and she communicated with me right away to confirm she was available and during the days I was away. My cat can be a little difficult with strangers but Georgina was able to feed her and spend time everyday! Thank you!

Maria is excellent! She is attentive and responsible providing love and great care our two cats. She was able to make friends with them - which is not easy. They are pretty aloof. I had lots of confidence that Winston and Shadow were well cared for the entire tie I was away. A big, big thank you!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
