“Nikki was fantastic with our dog, Ripken! We reached out to her pretty last minute after our original dog sitter fell through, and we couldn’t be more thankful. She came over for a meet and greet, and Ripken loved her from the start. Nikki treated our fur baby like her own, provided frequent updates and photos, and left our home tidy and clean. We highly recommend Nikki and will definitely be booking her again in the future!”

“Joy did a wonderful job with my pups while I was away for nearly 2weeks. Unexpectedly she had to take my one to the vet as we noticed something just the day before I had to leave. She kept me fully updated along the way and I felt a lot better knowing she would show the same amount of concern and care as I would. I received frequent updates and lots of pictures too! My dogs are definitely a handful and take a good amount of patience, so I really appreciate all that she does for me. I would definitely have Joy stay at my house any time I am in need of a kind hearted pet lover.”

“Amanda is amazing! They are so happy and comfortable with her. She supports the needs of the 5 month old puppy and the 13 year old dog (and the cat) with love and structure. Her years of experience with dogs really shows!”

“Tiffany did a great job of taking care of Maisy - especially on these super hot days. She sent several pictures every day which allowed us to enjoy our time away without worrying. She also watered my flowers so that they didn’t completely wilt and die!”

“I cannot recommend Casey highly enough! We recently traveled to Toronto for five days, and Casey took phenomenal care of our home, our dog Ellie, and our two cats, Maestro and Norman. Leaving pets behind can be stressful, but Casey gave us a huge peace of mind while we were away. One of our cats was dealing with a chin acne infection that required strict daily attention, and Casey didn't miss a beat. He was incredibly diligent with the care routine—meticulously washing their water bowls every single day and carefully cleaning his chin after every meal. Thanks to Casey's consistent and attentive care, the infection completely cleared up by the time we returned! Beyond the exceptional medical attention and daily pet care, Casey was tremendously respectful of our house. He kept everything perfectly tidy, maintained our pets' normal routines without a hitch, and was highly communicative so we never had to worry. If you are looking for a trustworthy, detail-oriented sitter who genuinely cares about your animals—especially if your pets have special needs or require medical attention—Casey is exactly who you want. Knowing our home and our furry family members were in such capable hands made our trip so much more enjoyable. We will absolutely be booking with him again!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and have always loved taking care of animals. I have experience with dog and cat sitting, as well as some experience with dog training. I currently have two Border Collies and a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, so I’m very comfortable with high-energy dogs and keeping them active and entertained. I know every pet is different, and I’ll make sure your pet gets the same care, attention, and love I’d give my own. 🐾 I currently work part-time at a local restaurant, but my schedule is pretty flexible, so I can easily work around pet care. I’m also taking college classes online, which gives me the flexibility to be available wherever I am. This makes it easy for me to give your pet plenty of time and attention! I take the safety and well-being of my own pets very seriously, and I would give your pet that same level of care. I’ll make sure they are safe, comfortable, and properly cared for while they’re with me, treating them with the same responsibility and attention I would give my own pets.
“Merideth is fantastic! She was very attentive, patient and kind with my shy, high maintenance dog. She communicated well, followed all instructions and requests, and my dog loves her!”

“The sitter did a fantastic job with our standard poodle. We were staying at the hotel and needed someone to stay in the room with our dog while we were away. Natosha was terrific. First, she was easy to reach and answered my texts rapidly. She was on time and treated my dog as if she was hers. I have no hesitation in recommending her. Natosha was great at connecting with my dog. She read her cues well. Our dog was relaxed and perfectly calm when we arrived. She had been walked often and we received a picture of our dog while we were away. Once again I highly recommend her and would use her services again.”

On top of this, I have dogsit for family several times. Dogs ranging from Schnauzer to Siberian husky in size! Most importantly, my dogs both foster and owned are apart of our family and I would love to extend our family to your fur babies! I wake up and get let out, fed, and get some loving before work. I work as a teacher 7 to 4. Once home the dogs get let out and often get time to sit on the front porch and play before dinner. I have a fenced in yard at our home. At your home I will listen and follow to the details listed to keep your dog safe while at your home.

About: Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to care for several dogs and a cat with a variety of personalities and needs. I’ve cared for a Pitbull mix, Chihuahua, Australian Shepherd, a Terrier mix, and a Maine Coon cat. I’ve also been a pet parent to a Cane Corso/Lab mix, so I’m very comfortable around larger breeds and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and proper care. I’m comfortable giving medications and following specific care routines. I’ve provided medication for pets as well as my own, so I understand how important it is to be reliable and attentive when it comes to health needs. I truly love animals and enjoy getting to know their individual personalities. My goal is to make your pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away — treating them with the same attention and kindness I’d want for my own I am available Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for drop-ins, walks, pet care, and overnight stays. On weekdays, I work Monday–Friday from 8 AM–5 PM, but I am available for early morning visits between 6 AM–7:30 AM for feeding, medication, potty breaks, and walks, as well as evening care from 5:30 PM -8:30 PM I teach yoga on Mondays and Thursdays, so my availability on those days is limited. I’m happy to discuss your pet’s routine and find a schedule that works best. When caring for pets in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I take the time to learn each pet’s schedule, personality, and individual needs, including feeding routines, walks, medication, and any special instructions. I understand that pets can feel stressed when their people are away, so I provide a calm, patient presence and plenty of attention while respecting their home and environment. I’m happy to send updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

“Brian is the best. We were so lucky to find him. We can go on vacation and not worry about our pets with Brian taking care of them. I highly recommend him for any animal care you need”

About: Growing up, we always had multiple dogs that were my responsibility to care for, and I loved every moment of it! I have spent the last several years helping my family and friends with watching, caring for, and walking their dogs when need - I'm the go-to person for them because they know their fury friends are in good hands with me! I have two cats of my own (one male and one female - both spayed/neutered), but I do not have any dogs of my own. I work full time - typically Monday-Friday away from home from 8:30amuntil between 3-5:30pm. Occasionally I work a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday, but this is the typical. If your home is near my work, I usually am available to do walks or check-ins on my lunchbreak. I have a small, non-fenced, yard that works well for quick outside potty breaks but live in an area that is good for dog walks. I have a decent sized home, so any size dog would feel comfortable playing inside. All pets are welcome on the couch - especially for cuddle time - and I have a spare bedroom where they would be welcome in the bed. I have space to hold dog crates if your dog is more comfortable in their own space for sleep.
“James took wonderful care of my pets and my home as usual. He’s reliable, trustworthy, communicative, and kind. My pets love him so much, I can always travel with peace of mind.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Amherst walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Amherst maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Amherst choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
