“Monica was amazing! This was our first experience with using Rover and I cannot recommend Monica enough. If I could give 10 stars I would. She provided daily updates with pictures, she has a fenced yard and has room for them to play. My husband and I were able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing our two puppies were well cared for and enjoying themselves. I highly recommend Monica.”

“Dave and his wife did such a fabulous job with Hank. We can’t thank them enough for watching him for us. It is nice to know he is being well takin care of while we are out of town.”

“Ashley wasted out Shepsky while we were on a float trip. She sent pictures. Jersey made herself right at home next to the chair. Her children played with her. Will definitely book her again.”

“Haley. Did an amazing job with Alfi. We had a setback right of the bat as I was already in Puerto Rico. She handled it with grace. And continued taking care of Alfi till I got back late last night. I picked him up this morning and Alfi was a very happy dog, Went over the issue we had early on and was on my way. I would bet good money that Haley is most likely the best pet sitter on this sight. She sent pictures and updates every day without me even asking. She sent me home a cool picture of Alfi as a momentous of his stay with her and her family. If u need a great place for your pet. Send him or her to Haley. Because you will have no worries while you are away. Haley is a great person as well as a great person to take care of your pet.”
“Amy was absolutely amazing! She truly cares for your pets and has a perfect setup at her house for them. My dog loved being there and I had no stress knowing he was in great hands. She constantly sent photos, videos, and updates. He even came home with a professional picture she took of him and a goodie bag. Highly, highly, recommend! Amy (and husband) you're the best!”

“Tammy was great! She kept in contact with me and sent photos. I felt at ease with her watching Jasper. When I got there to puck him up, he was happy and relaxed. I can tell he was well taken care of!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better stay for our pup. We would definitely love to use Loya in the future! Thank you for making Ben part of your family for a few days. We know he was well loved, and well taken care of!”

“Memphis loved her boarding experience with Aurora! I was sent with pictures, videos, and updates throughout the stay which was greatly appreciated. We will definitely be booking with Aurora again!”

“Alex and her family were amazing! She was extremely easy to work with and communicate with. I was almost afraid Cooper would want to stay with them after his two week visit. Photos came regularly. Honestly, she was the best and only rover sitter we will ever use again! Thank you, Alex!”

About: I’ve dog sat for family members on multiple occasions. The dogs seen in my photographs are family dogs that have stayed in my home. I will adhere to the preference of pet owners on if the pets can interact with other pets. I work full-time as a remote employee for Royal Canin. I’m actively provided breaks, lunches, and planned time that I could take out and feed pets. While my residence is unfenced, the neighborhood is very safe within a small town. The pets will be free to move about inside of the home and I can accommodate if they need to be on a leash even in the backyard.
About: I have had pets in the house my whole life. My grandpa had a farm so I have been around animals since I was little. We have even had several pet pigs that were litter box trained. When I was younger, I would sneak stray cats into the house so they would have a place to stay and I always made sure to feed any stray animals that were too scared to come to anyone. I am that person that always stops if I see an animal wondering around outside, even in areas where I probably shouldn't even stop at stop signs. I have two boys, 7 and 19 months old that share my love for animals. We would be thrilled to spoil and love on your pets if you are planning a trip out of town or just need someone to stop by so your fur babies can have some play time and a bathroom break. I work full time close to Lambert Airport so I have limited availability during the week. On the weekends I am typically home amd welcome any dogs to stay with us as long as they are up to date on vaccines and currently taking flea and tick treatments. Our pups are just like family members. They have free roam throughout the house and are allowed on furniture. We have several dog beds, plenty of toys, and a fenced in backyard.
About: I used to have two dogs: a German Shepherd and a Pug. I also had two cats. My friend took them in when I moved and I still get to see them regularly. They were the most loving dogs and cats I could have ever asked for. I love animals and will treat your pet like it’s my own! I work from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM on weekdays, but I’m always available after work and on weekends to take care of your pet. I can provide your pet with all the attention they require. I reside in an apartment with ample outdoor space, but I’ll take them for walks whenever necessary.
About: I’ve owned dogs, cats, bearded dragons, geckos, hamsters, guinea pigs and saltwater fish. Boys are in college and I have extra Time On my hands I am an empty nester with fenced in yard in neighborhood in the metro east of St Louis i work virtually. Have watched several friends And neighbors pets in our home. I have a fenced in large yard Our pets Get daily walks and play time And enrichment activities with fruit and peanut butter. About: I am a work from home RN which allows me to be present with your babies and give them all the snuggles, treats, walks and play time they could want. My husband and I both have had dogs all of our lives and feel completely comfortable around all types of breeds. We have two dogs of our own and they are so incredibly loved and cared for. We will give you the peace of mind while you are away that your babies are cared for as you would. Since I am home all day, there's very little time your pup will be left alone. I can provide frequent potty breaks, play time and walks. We live on a peaceful 1.3-acre property and are one of only three houses on a long, quiet dead-end street with virtually no traffic. We have a massive backyard surrounded by nature with endless room for pups to run and play! A quick note on safety: While our large yard is unfenced, your dog's safety is our absolute top priority. If your pup is a wanderer or loves to roam, we are fully prepared to take extra measures—such as using long training lines, continuous supervision, or structured outdoor play—to ensure they get plenty of freedom and exercise without compromising their safety. As the proud owner of two dogs myself, I completely understand the anxiety of leaving your furry family members. I treat every guest like my own and promise to keep your babies safe, happy, and loved in your absence!
“Frances took amazing care of our corgi pup! Frances was excited to take our pup on multiple walks a day. She even sent photos of our pup while we were on vacation. I would definitely recommend Frances to anyone looking for personal care for their precious pup!”

About: I have trained puppies and have had multiple pets. My friends are always asking me to help with their animals, even financially. I love the meet and greets and spending my time with animals! I am only Doordashing right now for work and pet sitting so my hours are very flexible! I am pregnant though! But that has no effect because my boyfriend tends to help me with the animals so that your animal is busy all day when he is home and I try to spend some time Dashing! We have ample time for any hour for feedings, walks, playtime, or potty breaks! I am safe and reliable. Always on my toes and ready for a fun day with a pet. I hope you will entrust me. I do not steal and or trash anywhere I go.
“Nikki was great. She took care of Lola really good. Kept us updated with pictures and text. Lola seemed happy and she even made friends with her cat. Thank you Nikki for helping us kind of last minute. I would definitely use Nikki again in future.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Ames home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Ames.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Ames sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
