About: I’ve raised dogs my entire life and my one year old golden loves to walk, play, travel and meet other dogs. I am retired and happy to be of assistance! I was also a ER nurse for over 25 years. I am retired and have plenty of time to help care for or walk any other dogs. I love to walk on a daily basis and maintain a healthy life style. I live in a very pet free home where food is put away and nothing dangerous is accessible for my dog or any others to get into.

About: *NOW OFFERING DISCOUNTED RATES!* *I am currently on hiatus from house sitting! I will offer that service again soon!* After a brief break due to adjusting to a new city, I’m back to doing what I love: caring for your furry family members! With 50+ 5-star reviews and years of experience, I’m here to offer dependable, loving care again. I've had pets of my own my entire life and have cared for pets of friends, family, and neighbors for years! I love being around animals and have 3 babies of my own. I'll love your best friend as much as I love my own! I am reliable, punctual, and energetic and always willing to do what I can to help out! I have an anxious, aggressive, and arthritic Chihuahua of my own, so I have experience with more "neurotic" pets as well as experience with medication. One of my cats is 13 years old, so I also have experience with senior care (as well as cat medication, too!). I also have experience with guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, and reptiles! I just moved to the Galesburg area and am currently unemployed, so have wide availability to care for your pets! If I am house sitting, I can typically spend overnight and the majority of the day there! *Note: I am currently on hiatus from house sitting services! I currently do not offer house sitting/boarding in my own home, as my 3 pets aren't comfortable with new animals in their environment. Eventually, I hope to be able to set up a system where I can provide that service! I do have a playpen and door fences that I use for my own dog, so could potentially provide temporary boarding if the circumstance is right! When I come into a home for sitting, I am always acknowledging that I am not only in another person's space but the pet's space as well. I do everything I can to be respectful and aware of boundaries. Following routines to keep the pet comfortable is essential in building the bond!

About: I have been babysitting and dog sitting since I was in middle school, which has given me years of experience in being responsible, attentive, and patient. I love staying active and being outdoors, so I’m always happy to take pets for long walks or keep kids engaged with fun activities. Whether I’m following a specific care routine or just providing some extra playtime, I pride myself on being dependable and treating every home with respect. While my schedule varies with my part-time job, I am very flexible and able to work around my shifts to make accommodations for your pet's needs. I am a full-time student taking online courses, which allows me to be home frequently and maintain a presence for pets who need extra attention. I am dedicated to coordinating my time to ensure your furry friends are never left without care and get plenty of playtime throughout the day. I provide a safe and loving environment for every pet I watch, no matter where I’m at. Having been around animals since middle school, I understand the importance of trust and consistent routines. I am very active and enjoy taking dogs on long walks or playing outdoors, ensuring they stay happy and healthy. I am also comfortable following any specific safety instructions or crating needs to keep your pet feeling secure.

About: Hi! My name is Amanda. I have worked in doggie daycare, worked as a bather and in the sales department! At work I got to experience different breeds, temperaments and personalities! My favorite part of my job is building strong relationships with the owners and their dogs! I also have experience dropping in homes while their owners are at work, school or out of town. When I do drop ins I have taken them on walks, picked up after them and fed them. I absolutely love working with all animals! I am known to have great communication skills, I am compassionate , and I am responsible. I pride myself in those traits and look forward to building a relationship with you and your family member! I do have a full time job working with adults with intellectual disabilities. Mon-Fri I do work from 730am-4pm. I am still available during the weekends and can also do house sitting during the days that I work! I will follow their daily routine and make them as comfortable as possible while you are away. While walking them I will keep distance from other animals to ensure their safety. I will also follow all dietary needs and feeding schedules.

About: I used to live on a ranch including dogs and cats. I’ve had many years of caring for them and when anything happens to them, I’m the first one that gets called to get asked what they can do to help them. I am full time Monday-Friday but I would love to take care of your pets after! Anytime after 4:30 will be the best time I can come after work but on the days I’m off, anytime works Whatever the rules are, I will follow them. If dogs are needed to be crated at a certain time, I can do that and if they need free time constantly then I am all for that as well.

About: My boyfriend and I have always had animals in our lives. Growing up he lived on a farm with dogs, cats, goats, pigs etc. and I have had dogs and cats my whole life. We currently have 2 beautiful Great Danes, a bunch of rabbits, outside kitties, and 3 chinchillas! Our dogs love people, small animals, and would love a bigger dog to run around with. We would love to cuddle with your fur babies, go for walks, or just play in the fenced yard! With summer coming up we know that it’s going to be vacation time, you deserve to be able to enjoy and relax on vacation while knowing your animals are well taken care of. Me and my boyfriend work mornings and get lunch breaks half way through, so we’d be able to check on your animals even while working and we can be with them all afternoon. On Wednesdays and Thursdays we are both off so they’d get us all day! We have a 2 story house with lots of room for them to lay around and have their own space if needed. We also have a large backyard that is fenced off already for our dogs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 252 sitters on Rover offering Dog Walking across Alpha. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Alpha. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Alpha.

Got specific details you'd like the dog walker to include? Message them in the app before your dog’s walk begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every walker on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Alpha. On Rover:

  • 95% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
