“Candice was absolutely exceptional!!! I am very impressed with her service. This was our first time ever leaving our dog with anyone. I felt so comfortable with her, she has good energy and warm smile. She lives on such a beautiful water property and has two cute dogs that look so well taken care of. Her home is so nice and cozy, I felt like my dog was living in luxury for 9 days! My dog seemed right at home immediately at drop off hanging out with her two dogs and didn’t care I was leaving which is rare. While on vacation I received message updates and pictures of my dog that were so cute. Her two sweet daughter’s even spent time with my dog. Maxxie also got a squeaky toy parting gift from Candice. It literally was the perfect family for my dog while we were away it doesn’t get any better than this! I was a peace and knew our boy Maxxie was very well taken care of. She treated my dog like it was her own and that is what you want in a Dog Sitter! I will be a repeat customer!!! I don’t think it gets better than Candice she is the BEST and truly raises the bar high. I highly recommend her!!!”

“Beth is absolutely amazing!!! She cared for our furbaby like she was her own and spent the time to update with pictures and videos. This was the first time leaving our new rescue dog with anyone and after the first day we knew Beth was the right person!!! Our pup was happy and playful and having the time of her life…right at home and comfy! We are thankful to have found someone as wonderful as Beth!”

“This was our second time booking with Jill and Thomas, and once again, we had a wonderful experience! They took care of cucu for an entire week. They were incredibly responsive, provided daily updates (which gave us so much peace of mind), and were always quick to answer any questions we had. It’s clear they truly care about the pets they watch. We are so grateful to have found someone we trust with our pup, and we’ll definitely be booking again! :)”

“Bear and Bailee had another GREAT 😊 stay with Julianna!!! They were with her for 4 nights and she took really good care of them. I felt entirely comfortable leaving them with her! My pups can be a bit clingy at time and my Bear-Bear can be a little moody and he had a great time with her mom 😊. I am so grateful to have found Julianna. ♥️”

“Rita took excellent care of my Angelo in her home. He can be slow to warm up to people, but she quickly won him over and they had a great visit! He especially loved relaxing in her yard.”

“Andres was great! He responds quickly and has a lovely pet friendly home with a nice fenced in backyard. His little dog Rumpkin is quite friendly too! My Sasha enjoyed her weekend and we would use Andres again. Thank you Andres!”

“Everything went well with my dog's overnight stay. She got her walks and Sandra communicated with me throughout her stay with photos. Much appreciated Sandra! Hope to use your services again. Lisa H.”

“Laura was a fantastic dog sitter! She was flexible with scheduling pick up/drop off, sent an update with a photo, and our pup seemed to have a great time with her. We will definitely use her services again!”

“OMG! Alyssa and Marcus were amazing!!! It was Sam's first time being away from home. I was super nervous because he can get a little anxious and I didn't know how he would adjust to being away from home. We thought about it over some time and Alyssa and Marcus were able to accomodate our plans last minute. Before the reservation was even finalized, they were so helpful and reassuring. They kept me updated throughout his stay with so many pictures and reassurances. It really put my mind at ease. Sam had such a good time with Zara, Alyssa, and Marcus...I think he was upset he had to leave! I can't imagine sending him anywhere else. I definitely weill be booking with them again.”

“Chyann, was an amazing sitter for my baby. Beanie stayed with her for a week and throughout the entire stay she kept me updated with pictures and insight into how he was doing. She’s one of the more informed sitters on this platform and following our meet-and-greet I was completely sold on choosing her as a sitter. With the updates, smooth transition for drop-off, and Chyann’s warm personality I was completely at ease and confident throughout the boarding process. I’d definitely recommend choosing Chyann!”

“Max had a very nice stay. Family is very friendly and accommodating. Max seemed to have a great time. Alison sent us pictures during his stay. Would highly recommend this individual for care again. Looking forward to our next stay. 5 stars all the way !!!”

“Raelyn was wonderful! She picked up and dropped Max off which was incredibly helpful for us with conflicting job schedules and three kids. That added service made our night away possible. She also is so quick to respond and provides info and photos while she watches your fur baby. Max seemed so relaxed in the photos and he came home happy. We had a poor prior experience with a different Rover sitter and he came home shaking. I totally trust Raelyn and will gladly use her again.”

“Nyema took really good care of my furry buddy Corky for a whole week. We did a meet and greet before my scheduled trip. Each day while I was away she sent a picture for me to see he was ok. She was even concerned that he wasn’t drinking any water or eating much the first couple days. After a couple days he adjusted and started to drink and show her his fun personality. He interacted with little ones too and played with them. I was in another state working but was never worried about him being away from me for so many days. I picked him up and he was happy. I’ll definitely use her again.”

“Marissa had my Laci girl, 5 lb Chi just a year old, for a week and did an exceptional job with her keeping us informed daily. I highly recommend her for all you doggie stays! Appreciate you Marissa; we'll be back when needed!”

“The fact that Courtney is a vet was one of the reasons I reached out to see if she was able to watch Sunny for a weekend while I was out of town due to how anxious she can get. Let me tell you, she did not disappoint. During the meet and greet, she asked about emergency vet info and offered her office as an option for urgent but non-emergency situations since I don’t have a primary emergency vet. She was aware of Sunny’s needs while she was there. Courtney also kept great communication and sent lots of videos and pics during her stay. I would 10/10 recommend her and will definitely be booking services with her again when the time comes!”

“This was our first time using Brian's services for overnights for our two Labrador Retrievers. I really liked the time Brian took to take notes on each dogs' care during our meet and great. It showed he was really interested in providing the care they needed especially for our 9 year Lab that had special mealtime needs. Brian has a great set up in his house for dogs including a nice fenced in yard which was a real treat for our two. His dogs and the other dogs he watched were terrific playmates for ours. I know that he cared well for them and I would highly recommend him! We will be using him again!”
“Aubrey took such good care of our dog. It was the first time we left her since adopting her and she seemed to be very happy at Aubrey’s place. I felt 100% comfortable leaving her there and will definitely book with Aubrey again when we need a place for our dog to stay.”

“Alexandra and family are always wonderful to my baby boy! But this time they go above and beyond! We left for a week. And unfortunately, he ran out of food. Alexandra and family cooked him homemade food, like I did with him! Just exceptional!!!”

“Our trip was a bit last-minute and still up-in-the-air, but Justin and Stephanie were very flexible with us! They welcomed our dogs into their home and treated them like their own. They sent updates and pictures daily (actually, multiple times a day!), and they made sure our dogs had a good stay. Our dogs came home happy and themselves, unlike our one and only experience with a kennel that left one of our dogs traumatized for weeks. The whole process was smooth and easy, and we will definitely be using them again when we go out of town!”

“Claudia took such amazing care of my dog! She shared lots of photos and detailed updates every day, so I always knew how he was doing. She not only took him out for walks but also played with him at home and even let him snuggle with her at night. My pup absolutely adored her — when it was time to leave, he even sat on the lawn refusing to go, with watery eyes. It’s clear he felt very loved and happy with Claudia. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy sitter! 💛🐾”

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.
95% of Alloway sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Alloway landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.
If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Alloway home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Alloway.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Alloway sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
