“My cat does not open up easily to anyone but opened up to Jen and her son easily! She was very kind towards him and played with him as well. She was great and communicated with me throughout. Will definitely use her services again”

“Michelle was wonderful! Very quick to respond to my booking request and, after we spoke on the phone, any concerns I may have had disappeared. I really appreciated the prompt response to messages, and the daily photo updates kept my mind at ease. The best part was Meko didn't seem stressed at all when I picked her up, like she usually does when i have boarded her at different kennels. Couldn't ask for a better experience, and Michelle will be my go to sitter going forward!”

About: I have loved animals of all kinds my entire life and have been caring for pets at home for as long as I can remember. Growing up with a mom who was a former veterinarian, caring for animals runs in my family. I understand the importance of providing pets with patience, attention, love, and proper care. I will treat every pet as if they were my own and make sure they are happy, comfortable, and well cared for while their owners are away. I have open scheduling times besides holidays and personal appointments. I’m available for house sitting when my schedule allows and will discuss my availability with each client before accepting a booking. I’m happy to provide overnight care and spend plenty of quality time with your pets while you’re away. For house sitting, I care for pets in their own home where they can stay comfortable and maintain their normal routine. I will follow your instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medications if needed, potty breaks, playtime, and any household or safety guidelines. I’ll treat your home and pets with respect and make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

“Kaitlyn went above and beyond for our two cats. They’re indoor/outdoor cats and usually go out at 8pm and come home by 6am. She was up every morning before 6 to let them in! We also have a very timid cat and he took a real liking to her. She gave us lots of pictures and updates which we really appreciated. Will definitely be re-booking her in the future :)”

About: I've had pets my entire life. I've learned how to walk dogs, litter train cats, administer medications, trim nails, and give bathes. I've pet sit for my grandma plenty of times before and decided I want to give it a go for other people. I currently have 2 cats of my own that I routinely care for! I am a stay at home fiancee so I have all the free time in the world! I have open availability unless stated otherwise, and I am eager to be a helping hand to those who need it. I care for pets with love and gentleness in the home of my clients. I'm patient and willing to learn and do things in a way that will make the pets feel comfortable and loved. I can clean litter boxes, clean waste from dogs on walks or even in backyards if that's preferred, I can administer medications or give baths if needed. I could also trim nails if the owner is comfortable with it and it's needed
“We love Maria! She is very flexible and anyone who can handle my two little gremlins is a superhero! We have her come over a few days weekly due to our crazy work schedule and will continue to do so! Saves us so much trouble and the pups are so grateful! ?”

“Shannon is absolutely incredible. My blind, diabetic, 13.5 year old pup has a hard time feeling comfortable with others but with her, it seemed almost instant. I felt so comfortable knowing Gizmo was in great hands. She proactively updated me throughout the evening, letting me know how he was doing which eased my mind and allowed me to enjoy my night out.”
“She took great care and had patience with my kitten. Even when I made a mistake with scheduling, she was flexible and able to help me. I would definitely use Sabrina again!”

About: I have several years of experience caring for dogs and cats through pet sitting, two doggy daycares jobs, and Mayfair Veterinary Clinic, where I worked as a kennel attendant. I’m experienced with feeding, cleaning, monitoring behavior, and keeping pets safe, comfortable, and happy. I’ve also cared for cats both professionally and in their homes and understand the importance of giving every pet attentive, dependable care. I currently have a flexible schedule and can work pet care into my daily routine. I’m comfortable with regular walks, feeding schedules, playtime, check-ins, and overnight care. I’m happy to communicate with owners about their pet’s usual routine and make sure it stays consistent while they’re away :) I have a dog and cat of my own, so I’m used to maintaining daily routines and creating a safe, comfortable environment for pets. I’m also respectful of each pet’s space and their owner’s home, and I always make sure pets are happy, comfortable, and well cared for.

“Victoria was fantastic! My kitty Winwin loved her as a sitter. She was communicative, sent me tons of cute pictures through Rover Card. Offered playtime and plenty of scritches! I will definitely book with her again if possible.”

“Megan was absolutely incredible with Harley! She was prompt, sent photos and updates with each pop in. Her communication is amazing. She also helped me out with a last minute emergency pop in. She is really a great sitter and I'm so glad we chose her!!!”

About: I’ve been house/pet sitting for large dogs such as mastiffs, pitties, and labradoodles. Also have cared for small animals such as ferrets, rabbits, chickens and small breeds of dogs! I have been working at a horse farm for 10 years where I am responsible for daily care and support! I am a safe and responsible sitter and Walker, following specific instructions as needed! I recently graduated college with a bachelors in biology and plans to attend veterinary school in the future. I’ve owned all sorts of animals my whole life from tortoises to ferrets to mastiffs and chickens. I grew up working at an equestrian barn for over 10 years. I love being outdoors and am very active. I also don’t have a problem bringing in mail, taking out trash if house sitting is necessary.
“Alana was right on time for multiple visits to care for and check on my big Akita/husky pup. She sent pictures of him playing on each visit and sent me texts updating me on his status. Couldn't ask for better!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
