Rayelle was amazing! It was a long trip and she kept us informed the entire time. Had very good communication! If something changed with her daily schedule, she would be in contact to ask if it was okay. We had a bad experience with our last rover sitter, so I was very nervous this time around. But after Rayelle got to our house, I was at ease and didn't worry our entire trip. She even did the laundry and cleaned before we got home. Which was very helpful after driving across country for 2 days. She loved our dog like her own! She is a natural when it comes to taking care of dogs and really takes it seriously. Our dog enjoyed his time with Rayelle! He was such a happy guy when we got home and I could tell it was like we didn't even leave. We also loved the foot print she left us. Such a sweet gift! We look forward to having Rayelle was our dog again!

Cambridge is absolute blessing. She was great at communicating with me the entire time she stayed. She was always punctual and cleaned up too. What I liked the most about her was how caring of person she was with my fur babies. She even sent me pictures of them which I was grateful to have.

Debbie is an exceptional pet and house sitter! Given the flexibility in her work schedule, she took the initiative to come out and meet us and our dogs before we left our trip. This allowed us to walk her through their routine and familiarize her with our home, creating an immediate sense of confidence in leaving our dogs under her care. Debbie's warm personality, coupled with her thoughtful questions, endeared her to both us and our dogs right away. Throughout our time away, Debbie consistently provided daily updates, complete with photos, and maintained open communication whenever she had questions, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring our pets were well cared for. I really appreciated her proactive approach to keeping us informed. When we got home, we were delighted to find our home in pristine condition, if not even cleaner than we left it! Debbie's attention to detail and respect for our space was clear, reinforcing our decision to entrust her with both our pets and home. Given the positive experience, we have already booked her for our next trip! Debbie's professionalism, reliability, and genuine love for animals make her a top choice for anyone seeking a trustworthy and caring pet/house sitter.

About: Our family had dogs since I was a young boy; I've had many since then. I've also trained them. We also had fish, hamsters, birds, reptiles and lizards as pets. Some 15 years ago, one of my dogs went blind... I cared for him for 10 yrs after that until he passed away. He never left my side. A few years ago, I got another dog but she died of cancer last year. At the moment, I don't have a dog (she died) but I have 5 cats. I do rather well with both and my cats are quite used to dogs. I used to live on a ranch where we raised Arabians; I was responsible for feeding & caring as many as 18 horses. When I was younger, I rode often and played polo. My father passed 10 yrs ago and his wife sold our ranch. I am available to feed horses provided that I'm paid the time it takes to travel back and forth. I am available for cat/dog sitting & feeding. If you need dog boarding, please let me know if you pet gets along with cats. I work from home, so I am a home quite a bit. I also have a flexible schedule, and this can be accomodated to work around certain issues or conflicts. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments. I have a large (unfenced) yard, but I am willing to take your pet on walks in my neighborhood, as needed. I live one block away from a park. I am home quite often, so your pet will rarely be left alone. I am available for drop-ins, visits, or even overnights.

Used Rover for the first time and couldn't be happier with the sitter i picked. She kept us on need to know basis everyday with pictures or comments. She also house sat and kept it very clean! I think she went above and beyond our initial agreement and i am so thankful for her help. She watched 4 bulldogs and all 4 were in great condition when we got home. I highly recommend Denise for anyone who is looking for an experienced dog sitter.

About: I live a routinely active lifestyle. I get along well with animals because I never give them a reason to not get along with me. I also provide services like shoveling snow, racking leaves, watering plants, and pulling weeds, and taking out the trash. If interested please reach out for further details. I am also looking to gain more experience training all kinds of lovable pets. I’m athletic, so I’d be able to give your dog some good exercise and I know some great spots for dog walks. You can count on my communication, consistency, and efficiency. (For extra cash) I also provide: pulling weeds, mowing lawn, taking out trash, watering plants, collecting mail, any thing that makes your life easier. My philosophy is to always consider the little things in completing tasks. Roll the dice on me😁 I have a flexible schedule! As long as we plan ahead of time I can adjust my schedule fairly easily. Otherwise I would decline the offer. I’m great at following directions and from my perspective pets tend to trust me right away. I ask plenty of questions to make sure the client and I are on the same page.

We are so thankful for Rachel and her willingness to take in our Watts!! Her in-depth dig into who he is as a pup helped ease our stress of having to leave him behind over thanksgiving! Daily updates of their adventures helped make us miss him less knowing that he was having just as much fun as we were. Upon his return to us, you can tell he wasn’t stressed while away and that his mind was challenge. He definitely returned with better manners than he left us with, and our own training and expectations were held in place while away. We hope to be able to use her again in the future!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Adelaide

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 827 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Adelaide. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Adelaide walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Adelaide maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Adelaide choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Adelaide. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
