“I can't recommend Mckenna enough. She took such wonderful care of my dog, Bear. From the very beginning, she was communicative, kind, and professional, which gave me so much confidence leaving both my baby and my home in her care. She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and lots of photos, which I truly appreciated. It meant the world to me and helped us feel connected and reassured while we were away. It was clear that Bear was getting plenty of attention, love, and excellent care. Knowing he was happy, comfortable, and well cared for made it so much easier for us to enjoy our time away. Mckenna is genuinely one of the kindest people I've met, and her love for animals shines through in everything she does. She is such a sweet, genuine person, and I felt like I could trust her immediately. It's not always easy to leave your pet with someone else, but she made it effortless. I trusted her completely, and she exceeded all expectations. I am so grateful for the care she provided and would happily book with her again in the future. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and caring sitter. Highly recommend.”

About: I have owned dogs and cats all of my life. They definitely play an important part of my existance. I live in an area that has lots of room for a dog to get exercise. I spend much of my time outside with my pets near my side. It is important to me that any pet I am taking care of knows that they are very special to me. Your pet will become as fond of me as they are of their owners. I have spent times watching dogs and cats in their homes. I make sure that they are not missing their masters by spending extra time playing and walking them during my visits, whether it is a day visit or weekend visit. I just love our fur pals. I only work part time. My husband is home until 1:00 p.m. and I generally work only until 2:00 p.m. But that is only from May until October. Your dog will have someone around 90% of the day. I have a large yard. It is not fenced in but I keep my visiting pets on a leash at all times. They will be close by to me at all times.

“Lauren has stayed with our 3 dogs and 1 cat several times. They love her. This time we were out of the country for 2 weeks, a first for us. Lauren stayed at our house, took care of our babies and kept us informed. It is great to be able to leave for that long, enjoy our vacation and not feel too guilty about leaving them behind. We will always book with Lauren when she is available.”
“Molly is amazing! She is accommodating, kind and trustworthy. My four labradoodles loved her! I received regular pictures of my pets while I was away. Molly will be my go to person for all future business trips and vacations. Molly, you are the best!!!!!”

“Bonnie was absolutely wonderful with our dog Bruno, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Before the booking, Bonnie took the time to come over for a meet and greet so we could go through Bruno’s routine, needs, and any special instructions. That immediately gave us confidence that Bruno would be in great hands. While we were away, Bonnie sent thoughtful updates throughout the day, which we really appreciated. She was a fantastic communicator, prompt, reliable, and very attentive. She took Bruno on a nice long walk, and the sweetest surprise was when she gave him a little St. Patrick’s Day scarf. It was adorable and showed just how much care she puts into the dogs she looks after. When we returned home, she had also left a lovely “thank you for choosing me to look after Bruno” card along with special treats for him. Such a thoughtful touch. Bonnie was incredibly gentle, kind, and clearly loves what she does. We completely trust her with both our dog and our home, and we would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and dependable sitter. Thank you again, Bonnie, Bruno already misses you! 🐾”

About: I’ve taken care of my family pats ever since I was young, always had dogs and cats, I love all of my pets and spending time with them, can’t wait to meet yours and all of their quirks!! I’m only busy one day a week right now, which is Sunday's. Obviously there are days that I’m busy with friends or family or babysitting, something along those lines :) I can’t bring any pets to my home, my pets are shy lol, but of course any special feeding requirements or any special requirements in general, I love to play, keeps me entertained to :)
About: I have had dogs & cats my whole life. I am passionate about animals! I have experience with dog training, animal handling, administering medication or just quality time. I plan on having pet sitting replace my current job! It is something I have always been passionate about so why not! I can enjoy going to this job! We currently have three dogs. They our part of our family. We do not have a fence so they’re always with me when they go outside.
About: I’ve had dogs and cats since I was born. I currently have 2 big dogs and 6 cats at my home. I’ve pet sat for friends and family and sometimes I come over just to see their fur babies. I love going on walks with dogs but also snuggling up on the couch with my babies. I currently have a 8am-4pm job but it’s with family so they are very flexible if I need to leave and come back during the day. I’m currently enrolled in college online perusing a degree in marketing as well. I’m a very gentle person and I have a lot of respect for animals space. I don’t like to rush or make them feel threatened by me. I often however, hit it off very well with pets and love to play with them! I have tons of acres at my home so my dogs like to run free or on a leash if needed.
“Melissa was wonderful. Right on time, followed instructions, and took excellent care of my puppy. Definitely would recommend her to others and will be using her again in the future.”

About: I’ve animal sat for lots of family & friends, I have animal sat snakes, chinchillas, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, fish, and lizards! I love all animals, and even if I haven’t taken care of a certain animal, I am willing to educate myself on how to take care of them. I do currently work full time and go to school part time. I’m available on weekends at any time, during the weekdays I’m available before 2:30 and after 11pm I’ll always be outside with a dog when it comes to using the restroom just to make sure nothing happens, if your dog isn’t good with other dogs I’ll ensure that we go to the park when there’s no other dogs, or if I’m walking and another dog is coming I’ll just go to the other side of the sidewalk.
“Gabby was great. She hung out with my three dogs and two cats for several hours. They had only met her one time prior, so I wasn’t sure how they were going to respond. They were all cuddling in no time. I had total peace of mind while Gabby was here. She’s trustworthy and she kept me up-to-date with photos! It took me a long time to pull the trigger with Rover, I wish I would’ve done it sooner. Thank you Gabby!”

“Excellent care and communication while we traveled internationally. The daily photos were a huge amount of comfort while away. The pets seemed very happy. Would definitely book again!”

“Kailey was great with the girls and was able to accommodate us on very short notice. She went above and beyond when we really needed her. The girls loved her and remembered her from a prior visit”

I now have two dogs of my own and treat every animal with love, patience, and care. I currently work part-time and am available Sunday through Wednesday. I’m in college, so mornings and afternoons work best for me to care for your pets. I take care to follow each pet’s routine closely to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I’m respectful of your home and will ensure your pet feels safe and loved while you’re away.
“Jenni was on time, communication was great, and after my return, my pets demeanor indicated that they had been well cared for and played with during my absence. Flexible with her time while still maintaining the routine, Jenni was gentle and kind in our meeting and while updating me throughout her stay. My house was also well cared for and all in its place and clean! I will look to availability to book with her again.”

“Alyssa was a perfect fit for our household of one momma dog and her 6 puppies. She was attentive to making sure all the puppies were eating and all the bathroom breaks the mom wanted. She would send updates and pictures to ease my mind. I would highly recommend her.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Adair walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Adair maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Adair choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Adair. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
