About: Just a runner training to make the Olympics. I run full time which is fun but doesn’t pay the bills yet. I work and train while coaching on the side. I live in Ballard and have transportation so getting around and taking care of pets isn’t an issue! Love working with all types of animals. House sitting is always fun. I have been house sitting since I was 14 and get asked every so often to fill in and watch the pets while keeping the house clean. Willing to do anything to accommodate and make things as easy as possible for owners! Can’t wait to get started! I’m currently working full time hours, but I have flexibility in my schedule to accommodate most pets needs to be fed, walked, or played with I tend to ask questions about what the pets are allowed to do in home so that way I’m not breaking any rules or teaching unwanted habits.

“Caitlin helped us out last minute and was extremely accommodating to our senior dog with anxiety. She shared pictures and her response times were great. We will definitely use her again in the future!”

About: I’ve had experience with rescue animals in my home since my childhood. I began working as a pet sitter and dog walker (babysitter as well!) at 14, which has always been my favorite job! I was able to get a job as a kennel assistant in a veterinary clinic at 16 and worked my way up to a veterinary assistant position. I have dealt with administering medication and other veterinary procedures, and dealing with more special care required animals. I’m a college student taking online and in person courses through the local community college, so I have a pretty open schedule. Working a traditional job in college can be quite stressful, so I’m giving this a try! I have been working in other people’s homes for several years babysitting and pet sitting. I’m happy to clean dishes, take out trash, carry in mail and packages, and any other simple tasks. I always try my best to clean after myself and the fur babies each visit!

“I highly recommend Alaina for overnight, in-home pet-sitting. She stayed in my home to watch my adult reactive dog for three days. I received consistent, proactive updates throughout her stay on how my dog was doing and what he was up to without me needing to ask. She even let me know when he had positive experiences with triggers. My dog has a strict routine because of his behavioral problems, and she kept him on his routine very closely and made sure to let me know ahead of time if/when her schedule conflicted with accommodating his normal routine. Upon my return, it is clear that she took good care of my home and space as well as my dog. He has been his normal self ever since I returned from my trip, which was a huge concern for me. I definitely trust that Alaina can provide quality care for reactive and nervous dogs and would recommend her services to any potential clients with such dogs and related concerns.”

About: I have worked as a kennel tech at a local veterinarian/boarding facility, where I worked with everything from cats to puppies to elderly dogs, small dogs, large dogs, and everything in between. I spent multiple years volunteering at the Richmond SPCA and have received training both there and at my kennel tech job on cat and dog body language, handling, bathing, nail trims, and medication administration (oral, ear, nasal, and eye). I have worked in the past with large, reactive dogs and am familiar with stress indicators. I am able to provide additional care to sick and special needs pets and also have experience with keeping small mammals (rodents and rabbits), fish, and frogs. I'm home for the summer and outside of a week of vacation, my schedule is mostly wide open. This, along with Instacart, is my only job at the moment, so I am available most days and times and have quite a bit of flexibility. I am able to feed, bathe, walk, administer medications (oral, ear, nasal, and eye), clean up after, and give nail trims to most pets. For reptiles, birds, amphibians, etc: no live feedings or whole prey (except bugs), please. For liability reasons, I don't give nail trims to aggressive or flighty cats due to risk of scratches or bites.

About: I, myself, own a senior dog and look after her well. I dog sit for family and friends when need be. I have also shadowed at a Veterinary office and work at one as well. I’m completely free every day until I leave for college on August 20th, so I can give your pets my full attention Monday through Sunday; walks, playtime, and all their care need I make sure that they get used to me first before jumping into caring for them. I allow them to realize I am trustworthy and here to feed them and love them.

“Victoria is great, she is always very responsive and cares deeply for the pets she looks after. You can tell that she loves what she does and that she cares for your pet as if it were her own. My dog absolutely loves her and gets excited every time he sees her. I would definitely recommend her, and will absolutely hire her again in the future.”

About: I work at Banfield in Newport News as a vet assistant. I currently have a senior dachshund named Leo who’s great with other dogs and cats. My work schedule varies month to month. I also have years of experience medicating dogs, cats, and small animals, and can trim nails on dogs and cats. I work 10 hour shifts, 4 days a week at Banfield. It varies each week but I do get a monthly schedule each month. I usually get my monthly schedule at the beginning of the previous month I usually take my dog out every 3-4 hours to go potty while I’m home. If your dog has a routine he/she follows, let me know and I can accommodate!

York View pet parents share their Rover experiences
Taylor was fantastic! Our senior cat (who can be shy) met her at the door and they were best friends ever after. Taylor sent us a picture each day and is a great communicator. She followed our old girl's feeding and med schedule. She works with animals and appreciates the individual's needs. We have no hesitation recommending her to others. We've already booked her for another cat/house sitting!

Taylor is absolutely amazing!!! She watched our two dogs for the weekend while we were visiting family out of state and did a phenomenal job. We liked the fact that she’s in school to be a vet tech, works with all types of animals daily, and is from the area - in the event of an emergency, Taylor knows exactly what to do, and that is beyond comforting. On top of that, she’s incredibly respectful, communicative, and kind. She has a wonderful way with animals - one of our pups is very wary of strangers, however Taylor had such patience with him, worked with him, and soon enough he warmed right up to her. She did a fantastic job communicating with us and sent a ton of pictures. She truly alleviated all anxiety, and we absolutely will rely on her again!!! Thank you, Taylor!
