“Busara was an incredible dog sitter! From the moment she came for the meet and greet, I was impressed. My dog was calm and took to her immediately, which gave me so much peace of mind. She even took notes about his care, showing how attentive and thorough she is. After the meet and greet, she sent a detailed care summary and promptly accepted the booking. Throughout our trip, she communicated amazingly, sending multiple updates and photos of our baby every day through out the day. It made being away so much easier knowing he was happy and well cared for. When we returned home, everything was in perfect condition. She brought in our mail, watered our plants, and most importantly, our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well loved. I would absolutely recommend Busara to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional pet sitter. We will definitely be booking with her again the next time our family travels!”

“Our 2 boxers took to Liz immediately at our meet & greet! She took great care of them while we were away, staying in constant contact with us and sending tons of pics! Highly recommend Liz! We will be booking with her again!”

“Krose had a great day with Chelsea! Chelsea arrived early with a goodie bag with treats and a toy. We appreciated the photos throughout the day. We were happy to see he was relaxed when we arrived home. We would definitely use Chelsea again!”

About: I started pet sitting in 2012. My SGT had a Cane Corso and I absolutely loved her so I watched her whenever I got the chance. I have also watched pets of family and friends throughout the years and volunteered at an animal shelter when I could. I have worked with many dog breeds including Dash hounds, Labradors, Chihuahuas, Cane Corso’s and Cavaliers just to name a few. Work schedule- Tuesday to Saturday- 4:00am to 9:00am. I am available all other times since my college classes are currently virtual. I will update my schedule when before I start a new semester. While my wife is featured in some photos I will be taking full responsibility. We have six pets all together. Two cats and four rabbits. We keep our rabbits in a separate room. When it comes to dogs our cats are not too comfortable around them so our cats will be upstairs. Our cats have been fine around other felines before but if yours are not then ours will stay upstairs. We make sure all pet children are fed properly and always have fresh water. We have plenty of toys and a big yard for them to roam and play. No pets are left unattended outside. Our cabinets are childproof so no pets can get into them and our plants are all pet safe.
About: I’ve taken care of many animals throughout my teen to adult years. I volunteered at a rescue taking care of mostly the cats. I’ve previously helped rescue kittens and dogs. I’ve always had animals around me. I’m a very big animal lover. I currently have 2 cats and 2 dogs and cat sit a kitten from time to time. I give the cats baths maybe once a month and the dogs weekly and I routinely walk the dogs. I watch the dogs while they’re outside while also giving them extra love. I love taking dogs on walks. I play with cats and even bring along toys that I know my cats love.

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life! We’ve had cats and reptiles before as well! I’ve dog sat for the past year now for a family every now and again when they need me! I’ve done it for a whole week or just a night out! Feeding, letting outside, walks, playing and of course some cuddling and pets! House sitting is obviously involved and I am ready for whatever you need me to do around the house while you are gone! I can’t wait to meet you and you’re animal friend! I’m available any weekday anytime around 8am-6pm except on Tuesdays I need to be home by 5pm! Weekends would need a heads up and could only work until 2pm OR could only work at night! I will not be boarding animals at my house! I do not have the facilities for that and also have 3 crazy beagles at home who would not appreciate another animal in the house!

“Vanessa was very responsive during her stay and updated me if anything happened! She was prompt and piggy was well taken care of! We had some hiccups with his stomach right before our trip but Vanessa was comfortable giving him his medication and monitoring him! Will definitely rebook with her in the future.”

About: I’ve been pet sitting since 2018 and have experience caring for cats, dogs, and birds. I currently have a cat and a bird of my own, and I’ve also had dogs in the past. I’m an Agriscience Education major and took Animal Science in high school, so I’ve always had a strong interest in animals and their care. I’m comfortable following feeding routines, cleaning litter boxes and cages, giving medications when needed, and making sure pets get plenty of attention and playtime. I know every pet has their own personality and routine, so I take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while you’re away! I’m a college student, so my schedule can vary depending on my classes, but I have flexibility throughout the week for pet care. I’m able to plan visits around my class schedule and make sure pets receive the care and attention they need. I’m also happy to communicate ahead of time to work out a schedule that fits both you and your pet! I treat every pet like they’re my own and make sure they are in a safe, comfortable, and clean environment. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their normal routine and any specific instructions they leave for me. I’m respectful of your home and always make sure doors, gates, cages, and other areas are secure before I leave. I also understand that some pets can be nervous around new people, so I’m patient and give them time to get comfortable with me. My goal is for both you and your pets to feel safe and confident while you’re away!

About: I have had many dogs and cared for many others. It is a true labor of love for me and something I really love doing. I’m retired so my schedule is super flexible. Whatever your schedule I can probably accommodate it. Give me a try and let’s see if we can work it out. I love them but I don’t board dogs (sorry). Couldn’t negotiate that successfully with my wife. I do love spending time with them on walks or in your home.
“Brigid was excellent!! She cared for my dog like he was her own. She gave him his meds on time and kept communicating with me while she was caring for him by sendings pics everyday! I would hire her again!! Thanks Brigid for taking care of my boy with love and caring for his needs!!”

“Terry is absolutely amazing!! I can’t say enough good things about her and how she went above and beyond in taking care of our two dogs while we were out of town. She loved and cared for them like they were her own, sending us updates and videos each day. We had an amazing vacation and was able to not worry a bit about how the dogs were adjusting - they were so happy and got so much attention with Terry!! She will be the first person we call whenever we need a sitter! Thank you Terry!!”

“Julie was amazing! Our pets were very well care for while we were gone. We came home to a house that was in as good, if not better shape than when we left. She communicated with me any time I requested and in a timely manner. I felt good knowing they were well cared for while we were gone. Oh, she even washed the sheets on the bed she used. Great service for sure!”

About: Hi, I’m Jess! I bring a unique, holistic approach to pet care that focuses on keeping your four-legged family members safe, calm, and completely cared for. Through my business, Salt & Soulistics, I also practice as a Canine Somatic Practitioner, Ayurvedic Animal Wellness Consultant, and Animal Reiki Energy Worker. This means I don't just walk your dog—I tune into their energy, monitor their comfort levels, and ensure that both their physical and emotional well-being are prioritized while you're away. Whether your pup needs a high-energy stroll, a patient and gentle walk for an older or anxious pet, or specialized attention, I adapt to their individual personality and pace. Why choose me to care for your best friend? • Advanced Animal Care Training: I am trained in Canine First Aid & Pathology, Canine Massage, and Palliative/Hospice Care. If your dog has medical complexities, mobility challenges, or requires specific medication schedules, they are in highly capable hands. • Nervous System Regulation: Using simple somatic and energy-work techniques, I specialize in helping anxious, hyperactive, or easily stressed dogs find a sense of safety, calm, and grounding. • Deep Lifelong Experience: Beyond my professional holistic certifications, I am a lifelong animal lover and a dedicated pet parent myself. I understand the trust it takes to leave your baby in someone else's hands, and I treat every client's dog with the same fierce loyalty, kindness, and meticulous care that I give my own. I can't wait to meet your pup and provide them with a soulful, happy, and refreshing break in their day! Pet care isn't just something I squeeze into my day, it is the central focus of my daily routine. As a holistic pet health concierge running my own practice, my schedule is intentionally structured around the well-being of the animals in my care. Because I work independently, I have the ultimate flexibility to prioritize your pup's routine exactly when they need it most. Here is how pet care seamlessly integrates into my weekly life: • Open Daily Availability: I am fully dedicated to housecalls and pet care 7 days a week, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Whether your dog needs an early morning wake-up stroll, a midday wellness break, or dinner-hour companionship, I am reliably available during peak care windows. • Dedicated Midday Windows: My daily rhythm is built around giving pups a refreshing, soulful break right when the workday gets long. I structurally reserve my midday blocks for active dog walking, sensory strolls, and custom wellness check-ins. • Grounded & Paced Bookings: I never overbook my days. I structure my schedule to include plenty of buffer time between visits. This ensures I never have to rush through a walk and can fully dedicate my focus, energy, and somatic grounding techniques to your dog without watching the clock. • Localized Travel Routine: My service routine takes me all around Delmarva and the beach areas. Because I am consistently on the road for home visits, fitting your pup into my daily transit circle is a natural, seamless part of my neighborhood routine. Whether you need a recurring weekly walking schedule or occasional daytime check-ins, your best friend will always step into a calm, reliable, and entirely dedicated routine. Because I care for your pets exclusively in the comfort of your own home, maintaining a secure, familiar, and low stress environment is my highest priority. I understand that leaving your pet requires immense trust. I design my housecall services to preserve your home’s security while giving your dog a meticulously safe and grounding experience. Here is exactly how I ensure safety and build trust during every home visit: • Meticulous Medical & Care Plan Adherence: If your dog requires complex medication schedules, strict handling protocols, or specialized mobility care, I handle it with precision. With advanced training in Canine First Aid & Pathology, Canine Massage, and Palliative/Hospice Care, I have deep experience monitoring vital comfort signals, handling precise medicine regimens, and managing physically fragile or medically complex pets. • Proactive Home Security Protocols: I respect your space. When entering and leaving, I follow strict door locking protocols to prevent escape artists from slipping out. I ensure your home stays fully secure before, during, and after my visit, and I am hypervigilant about keeping doors locked tightly if any unexpected local deliveries or disruptions happen while I am there. • Individualized, Distraction-Free Walks: I only offer private, one-on-one sessions tailored directly to your pup's unique pace and needs. I completely avoid distracting environments like crowded dog parks or group walks with unfamiliar animals. This strict personalized focus eliminates external stressors and keeps our entire outing completely safe and controlled. • Continuous Real-Time Communication: I believe that proactive updates build true peace of mind. You will receive detailed updates from every housecall, including real-time text check-ins, fun photos, and specific tracking details about how your pup's session went, what their energy levels looked like, and how they responded to their routine. • Custom Environment Adjustments: Before I leave, I make sure your pup is completely settled back into their safe zone. Whether that means refreshing their fresh water bowl, setting up interactive brain/play puzzles, or using gentle, trauma-informed somatic techniques to ground their nervous system, I leave them calm, happy, and relaxed.

“We could not be happier with the care Michael provides to both our girl & our home. The house is cleaner than when we leave & we come home to a tired & happy dog. Michael is also great about communicating & sending pics while he’s sitting for us. 5 stars are not enough!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Woodbury
Majiyah was amazing while I was away. I was a little hesitant at first about having a house sitter stay in my home, but she made me feel completely comfortable. She took great care of my dog and my home, and she really went above and beyond. When she thought he may have had a food allergy, she took the time to cook his food and make sure he was okay. She also took him to get a bath, picked up extra dog treats for him, and even cleaned my home before I got back. I noticed that my dog quickly became comfortable with her during her stay, which is always a positive sign. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing my dog was safe, cared for, and in good hands. I would definitely recommend Majiyah to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and caring sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Woodbury walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Woodbury maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Woodbury choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
