“We had the absolute pleasure of having our dog cared for by this amazing family, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we dropped her off, we felt completely at ease. They welcomed our pup into their home like she was one of their own with lots of love, attention, and even some playful spoiling (just the right amount!). Communication was excellent throughout the stay. We received regular updates, pictures, and sweet messages that showed just how happy and comfortable she was. It was clear our dog was being treated not just like a pet, but like part of their family. The environment is clean, safe, and filled with good energy. Their genuine love for animals really shines through in everything they do. If you’re looking for a dog sitter who is trustworthy, kind, and truly goes above and beyond, look no further. We’re so grateful to have found them on such a short notice.”

“Brianna has been such a blessing for our 6 month old mini-dachshund, Murphy! She is helping us to continuously socialize him with other dogs, cats, and kids…You can feel her passion and positive energy and can tell she loves what she does IMMEDIATELY when you meet her! Not only is Murphy happy and excited to spend time with her and her family but she sends us pictures of all the positive interactions and moments they have during the day! 6 out of 5 stars!”

“Great experience from meet and greet to communications ,hosting and pick up. So welcoming and kind to our girl .She updated us with pictures and was very flexible, working with us at the last minute. Will recommend her to anyone looking for care and will use her again .”

“Thank you Dee for wonderful care you provided to Nikita while we were gone. I felt confident and calm that you would take great care of her! I would love to keep in touch and use your services in the future. I also highly recommend your services to others, especially to highly worrisome and demanding pet owners:)))”

“Kim was great! We first had a meet 'n greet in advance of our visit. Kim knows a lot about dog behavior. We felt so comfortable at the meet 'n greet. Riley checked out the fenced in yard while we discussed his habits so Kim was able to get to know him better. Come the day of his stay with Kim, everything went well. Kim sent us a picture and shared a little about Riley's day. We look forward to future visits with Kim!”

“Sunshine and her two wonderful children are the absolute best! This was the first time my 12 month old miniature long hair Dachshund has stayed with anyone and I felt that she was extremely well cared for. Will definitely use Sunshine again!!”

About: Together, Julian and I have a long history of taking care of pets. I've taken care of dogs (of all sizes) since I was very young, as well as Cats. My family has always owned large breeds (Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Great Pyrenees', etc.) but also have experience with medium/small dogs. Julians family has also had dogs his whole life, and he has played a care-taker role both for his parents dogs and for our 2 Chihuahua mix dogs named Theo & Honey. Julian and I both have experience with dog walking, and giving medication as well. My childhood Golden Retriever had several health issues in the past (allergies, skin issues, special diet, etc.) so I have been used to giving many different kinds of medications for many years. Your dog will be safe with us, and treated/loved like they are one of our own! Both of our schedules are very flexible and open to meet your pet care needs. As I am currently unemployed, I have a lot of time on my hands. We both have open availability during the upcoming months, perfect time to book with us for your upcoming vacations and travels. Please see our calendar for further availability. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out to us. We currently have 2 small dogs and a cat at home that are super friendly. We have a big fenced yard, a nice walking path near our home, and lots of toys. Creating trust with your pet is our number one priority! We'd be happy to play outside, play inside, and do whatever we can to make your pet feel happy and comfortable! We'd also be happy to discuss your pet's needs before walking or dropping in for a visit.

“First time leaving our dog with a sitter. Whole family was a little apprehensive, since we didn't know what to expect with how our dog would behave. Florence kept us updated with text, pictures and videos. We felt at ease to see that our baby looked comfortable, behaving and getting along well with Florence's dog. We were also glad to see that she was safe and happy. Thank you Florence for taking great care of CC!”

“Diamond was a life saver. I am a travel nurse and had new puppy Rose. My assignment demanded last minute changes and working all shifts. Diamond was there for me through it all. She took very loving exceptional care of Rose. Rose loves her. We will greatly miss her as we move on to my next assignment. Wish I could pack up Diamond and take her with me. We were very lucky to have her!”

“Love Jennifer! She’s amazing with my dogs. She’s so reliable and dependable. She’s my go to because she treats the dogs so well. She’s great with communication on how they’re doing too. ♥️♥️”

About: Hi! While your gone away you can be sure your dog will get the love and care of a full family, we are up at 7am for a health breakfast and by 9 we’re out to hike a 1.5 mile trail full of wild life and beautiful views for your pup to see and experience. By 11 we’re back home for a bit of rest before lunch. Then comes nap time! The long walk usually tires the doggies out. After a few hrs they are up again for more playtime, usually hands on with the family, games like tug and fetch. This leads us to dinner around 6 and a bit more attention before our 8:30 bed time. Every day your pup is with us is an adventure they will be sure to enjoy just as much as the vacation your taking! My wife works from home and I walk dogs and manage the boarding 24/7. It’s always been a dream job if mine to be able to spend all day taking care of dogs and now I’m finally living that dream! I have a huge fenced in yard but the dogs will only be out there to use the bathroom. Maybe later in the day for some fetch but mostly the dogs will be inside with us. Also our morning walk is about 1-2 hrs long and that take a lot out of the dogs leaving them easy to manage most of the rest of the day.

I have a fully fenced back yard for potty breaks. I live within a 15 minute walking distance to a park and can provide your fur kiddo with walks if permitted. “Heidi is so kind and really helped us out when we needed a sitter during our daughter’s graduation party. Our dog can be a bit anxious and also is a runner when off leash, but she was up for the challenge, and we couldn’t be more thankful for her help. Her two dogs are adorable and we’re super friendly towards our dog. I without a doubt will be using her again!”

“Swagata was absolutely amazing in accommodating a last-minute request. I reached out to her late at night due to an urgent appointment the following morning, and she graciously accepted without hesitation. I already knew Tommy was in good hands since he had a great experience with her previously. Throughout the time, Swagata kept me updated with pictures and messages, which gave me complete peace of mind. Her warmth and attentiveness truly show how much she cares for pets. Tommy was happy and relaxed, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for reliable and loving pet care. I’ll definitely be revisiting!”

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
